    I had booked a reservation online for Friday at 5pm. I didn't really know where to go so my ride dropped me off in the rental parking lot. So I walked up to the building and entered it at 5:02. I casually approach the desk, as there are a few people standing at it. The man behind the counter (Dante sp) was having an argument with two ladies that were trying to rent a car. There was also another female employee behind the counter who perhaps was training. He glances up at me and says "we have no cars we're closed" I reply "sir I've already reserved and paid for my rental" He said "guess you better try to call and get your money back, I close at 5".....as he turns around and shuts the lights off. I calmly ask for his advice on what to do and he pointed at the competitor rental counters and said I should ask if they can help because he's been there all day and wants to go home. I told him I've already paid for it and he said "like I just told you I close at 5, it's 5:04." I responded to explain that I did my best to get there and now have no car that I've already paid for, that my appointment time was for 5pm. He said that wasn't his problem that I shouldn't have got it for their closing hour. I let him know that I booked through Priceline so I have no idea what their hours are. He finally said "give me your credit card and license" I complied obviously because I'm stranded without a car. I've never rented a vehicle before. He just told me "sign this" no explanation of anything, put the keys and paper on the desk and said "spot 19". That was it. I walked out to the lot, found the car, and made sure to circle it and take pictures of existing damage. At this point him and the other employee are walking to their cars. He walked straight by me as I was trying to ask a question so I asked her what I'm supposed to do about documenting damage so I'm not charged for it. She said to just mark them down on the paper.....yet sent me home with the paper. So I'm very skeptical about this, as I thought it was supposed to be done before I leave. The best I could do is take pictures and then my last one was the seal on the door so hopefully that will justify all pictures taken before I drove the car. Dante at Hertz and Montgomery Airport should seriously consider retirement. Dude is just plain rude for no reason.

    Agent was great, vehicle was ready. Pickup and return were a breeze. Great experience.

    They keep telling me that they close at 9:30, yet their app clearly shows that the LAST PICK UP is…read moreat 9:30 and that they CLOSE at 10. NOT TO MENTION the confirmation email that confirms my pick up at 9:30pm. And @national, don't bother writing the generic response to this, asking me to email you- you guys have already told me there's nothing you're willing to do to to rectify this. Regardless of my executive elite status with you, this is no way to treat ANY customer (especially the guy who was on my flight who had to sleep in the airport and wait for you to open the next day to get his car). "We close at 9:30", is all you kept telling me, as to justify why no one was there.

So after I walked past the counter, got my luggage off the carousel and walked halfway to the parking lot, I had to turn back and return to the terminal to get a contract and my car keys. At least it was quick when the very nice guy at the counter got me taken care of. I have Executive Emerald status with National, so I reserve a midsize and usually get an upgrade. Today, it was an almost brand new Chevy Equinox with less than 200 miles on the odometer. So new that the dust and suction cup prints from the robots installing the windshield were still visible in the right light! Very clean inside and out.

Then they ask oh did you order this today? Yeah the websites aren't updated. We do not have any availability today. We loved that it had blue tooth and wi-fi very nice. The only problem I did have was with the car seat we requested when I placed the rental request. I asked for a toddler/booster seat for a my two and a half year old granddaughter. When we arrived we were given a choice of two different infant car seats. I asked the clerk is that all you have I requested a toddler/booster car seat and she is too big for either of those seats, we were told that was all they had. We were driving 90 miles to visit my dad, so I couldn't come back to get a different one and it was 11pm and stores were closed to go buy one, so I had to take what they had so she would be in a car seat. I have a bad back so I could not carry her car seat from home with us, so I was very disappointed when our request was not accommodated.
