I made a reservation for rent a car. They checked me in, got my ID, credit card, hertz gold information and tell me that they don't have a car for me. Me: Why? Them: Because we ran out of cars. Me: Why did you confirm my reservation, we didn't. Hertz did. Me: what company do you work for Them: hertz Me: make this make sense. I reserve a car. You confirm it's availability. And you didn't expect me to come get the car, that I reserved? Them: I don't know. But we don't have cars. I walk off and call my travel agency. My travel agency makes another reservation with hertz, calls the counter and they confirm the car's availability. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!! read more

I had booked a reservation online for Friday at 5pm. I didn't really know where to go so my ride dropped me off in the rental parking lot. So I walked up to the building and entered it at 5:02. I casually approach the desk, as there are a few people standing at it. The man behind the counter (Dante sp) was having an argument with two ladies that were trying to rent a car. There was also another female employee behind the counter who perhaps was training. He glances up at me and says "we have no cars we're closed" I reply "sir I've already reserved and paid for my rental" He said "guess you better try to call and get your money back, I close at 5".....as he turns around and shuts the lights off. I calmly ask for his advice on what to do and he pointed at the competitor rental counters and said I should ask if they can help because he's been there all day and wants to go home. I told him I've already paid for it and he said "like I just told you I close at 5, it's 5:04." I responded to explain that I did my best to get there and now have no car that I've already paid for, that my appointment time was for 5pm. He said that wasn't his problem that I shouldn't have got it for their closing hour. I let him know that I booked through Priceline so I have no idea what their hours are. He finally said "give me your credit card and license" I complied obviously because I'm stranded without a car. I've never rented a vehicle before. He just told me "sign this" no explanation of anything, put the keys and paper on the desk and said "spot 19". That was it. I walked out to the lot, found the car, and made sure to circle it and take pictures of existing damage. At this point him and the other employee are walking to their cars. He walked straight by me as I was trying to ask a question so I asked her what I'm supposed to do about documenting damage so I'm not charged for it. She said to just mark them down on the paper.....yet sent me home with the paper. So I'm very skeptical about this, as I thought it was supposed to be done before I leave. The best I could do is take pictures and then my last one was the seal on the door so hopefully that will justify all pictures taken before I drove the car. Dante at Hertz and Montgomery Airport should seriously consider retirement. Dude is just plain rude for no reason. read more

I have never encountered a less helpful employee as I did here. Made a reservation online, paid to be able to insure and have multiple drivers. We got to front desk on 9/28/22 about 3pm. Both with insurance and licenses in hand..Worker sat there with headphones in & never looked up reservation or even touched the computer. Stated they needed credit card for deposit of first listed driver, but I was paying and had made the reservation on my account. I listed my sister first since she's a local and would be driving it more. (We are flying out of ATL tomorrow, but her return flight is to MGM.) The worker basically just said "no" when I presented my card. I Asked if she could switch the drivers, she said "no". I asked if we can cancel it and make a new reservation, she said "I'm not sure". So with absolutely no help from her, I decided I would cancel it myself, in front of her, and said "ok. Can we TRY to make a reservation now" and she said "I don't think we have available cars". I reminded her we had a reservation, and just canceled, so there should be at least 1.. she said "I'm not allowed to". I asked "okay, so if a random person gets off a plane and wants to rent a car, you guys.. don't.. rent cars to people??" She she said "I'm not sure". She explained nothing, and I'm not sure what the point a Hertz that "isn't allowed" to provide rental cars is we left wondering if a random passerby decided to sit there and pretend to work for them. Ended up just changing her return flight to land in ATL for an extra $280 & she now has to make the 2.5 hour drive back home after her day of traveling. So not only did Hertz lose the $ for our reservation, the airport money since we changed to ATL, & it ended up costing me money as well. If it was an honest mistake we wouldn't have cared, but the lack of work the "worker" did had us actually giggling on our way out because it was truly bizarre. read more

This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental place. First they gave me a car that hasn't had an alignment in months. It kept pulling to the side so bad that I had to exchange it. That in itself was absolute hell with barely any compensation given, on top of that they still charged me for the gas difference on the car with that had the issues. Customer service was a mess, everyone kept pawning off the responsibility to someone else because apparently everyone is incapable of addressing the issue or making it a bit easier. Please save yourself and go with Avis or Enterprise, never had any issues with them or their cars. read more

This Shit is Ridiculous I've been waiting here for over a damn hour waiting for a car I booked in damn advance not to mention the guy that's helping is not tryna call to see what's going on he just keep saying it wont be long it. Overall I wanted for damn near 2 damn hours I am damn furious. Not only when I finally got the car I go outside its alot full of damn cars so why was my wait damn 2 hrs? Hertz at the MGM regional airport is horrible. And the agents do not follow their own company policy, while also getting off on the perceived power they hold for renting ...oh doing their jobs. The agent hurled gender specific harassing communications to me after he failed to do his job. I reported this to hertz and their reply was infuriating. read more

Hertz Checking in was a breeze. The only dumb part about this whole process is that you have to go out to your car, check for scratches and then if you do find any, come back in to give the sheet to the counter. No one walks around with you at the car. So if you somehow, foresaw the fact, that you were getting into a fender bender, I guess you can mark that down. The car I had tends to swerve; not feeling the Nissan Versa. It felt unsafe on the highway. Turning in the car was easy. Just park it at one of the allocated spots and drop the keys off inside. This is absolutely the worst car rental counter in America. They leave before the flights arrive for the day and overbook to the point where a reservation means nothing. The supervisor, Chris, won't even answer his phone and the employee packed up and left about 8 customers (with reservations) without a car or an answer. Absolute failure across the board. read more

Booked a car for pick up at 11:00pm, however my flight into Montgomery was 17 minutes late on 01/07/15. When I went to pick up my car I was informed by an airport employee that the Hertz staff had left and there was no way for me to pick the car that I had already reserved and paid for! I was traveling to Auburn for business and was stuck at the airport until someone from a competing car rental company was willing to provide assistance after their business hours. Airport staff noted the Hertz employees at this location frequently leave early and I was not the first person this has happened to, even when flights are on time. It should be noted that this location closes at 11:00pm and despite this they accepted my reservation for that time, without informing me that they closed at 11:00pm. read more

Will never rent with Hertz again after being a Gold member for years this had to be the worst rental experience ever. Had to book online this time because for some reason the IHG app would not allow for the reservation to go through. No way to add member number on the online reservation....seems odd but ok. Received reservation confirmation via email, all seemed well. At time of booking I did not have flight information available yet, put pick up after 11:30. Added flight information once obtained that showed that arrival would be at 16:20. Received confirmation of this update. Upon arrival I was informed that due to hurricane, FEMA had come in to Alabama and that all vehicles were gone. Since I did not arrive at 11:30 they had no car for me. Informed agent that my flight information was added to reservation and that I needed a car. "We have no car for you you should have been here at 11:30. Cannot help you." When I explained that I was a long standing customer and gold member agent informed me that the car was just book online and there is no indication of my member status which frankly should not make a difference. Walked out to lot and several cars were in the lot. Returned to counter and questioned vehicles being in lot. Agent literally asked: "what's your point?" I explained that I needed a car since I made a reservation I expected to have a car. She asked if I am willing to take different car than what I reserved. I asked in disbelief if she was joking, she had previously told me there were no cars available. She initiated rental process and asked for credit card which is added to my account. When I pointed that out she proceeded to tell me that "you have a nasty attitude and I am not renting you a car". I am sure that I was annoyed at this time because I expect to have a car available when I make a reservation. At no point did the agent offer to apologize or assist with a solution. Refused to give me her name and her colleague Chris supported her non existent customer service. No wonder this company had to file for bankruptcy. Will never rent with HERTZ again after this experience. read more

Without breaking from his call, he stated they were out of cars. I asked "how could they be out of cars if I had a reservation?". When you travel to a small airport, service availability and quality can be problems. I have good experiences with Hertz in the past. When I reserved a car from Hertz at the Montgomery AL Regional Airport, I expected and received great support. I had come on business to attend a large IT conference and follow-on working group. I arrived the same day as hundreds of other attendees, so there were relatively long lines at the rental counters. The Hertz agents kept their lines moving efficiently, coordinating with their partner company, Thrifty. I knew I would have to return the car very early before the rental staff would be on duty. After dropping my keys in the locked box at the unstaffed counter, I realized I had left my cell phone in the locked car. An airport staff person tried to help but was unable to retrieve my phone before I had to depart. I used my laptop to report a lost item to Hertz's corporate web site. I also activated the lost-phone mode on my phone using the Find My Phone app (Apple iCloud). The lost-phone mode would display my wife's phone number and my email address on the lost phone. While I was in flight, Chris Parnham contacted my wife to say another employee, Fred Ballard, had found and turned in my phone. Wife offered to arrange a FedEx pickup, but Chris said Hertz has an arrangement with FedEx and would take care of shipping. After that, I enjoyed using the Find My Phone app to watch the phone moving cross-country toward Albuquerque. This was a good rental experience, demonstrating the extra considerations and efforts a quality company takes to ensure great service. Thanks to Chris, Fred, and the reservation agents. read more

As someone who travels frequently, I can't begin to tell you how often rental car places ruin my week. I am either issued a really terrible car, or have to deal with mediocre service. This is not the case at MGM's Hertz. This is one of my favorite Hertz locations in the country. The service is phenomenal. All Hertz employees I have met here have been beyond professional and genuinely obsessed with customer service. I have never received a vehicle that was poorly maintained here. Whenever I am in town, I know I can count on this Hertz to provide me with a clean, well maintained vehicle, and if I am unhappy with the car for any reason, the staff here goes above and beyond to find a suitable replacement vehicle. It is nice to know that there are Hertz branches that truly raise the bar for others, and they are local versus mega airport locations. read more

Service was awful. Got a jeep with no power windows or locks! The car had a big scratch on the side and there was no one around to see it, I had to call and let them know before I return the car. read more
