We were living in Marina del Rey and my husband was stationed at LA Air Force Base when we were given short orders to come to San Antonio. It was unexpected and we had a very short time to shore up everything in LA and move. PCSing is always stressful. Having to do it with just a few weeks notice adds even more pressure. While researching real estate agents in the San Antonio area and asking for advice from other military spouses, we were directed to Housing 1 Source. I gave them a call. Told them what our needs were and was assigned a realtor. We made arrangements to go house hunting in San Antonio. Before our trip, our realtor sent us links to hundreds of homes that met our criteria for our review. By the time we came to SA, we had a list of potentials. Dave (our realtor) drove us all over SA and educated us about the different neighborhoods - good school district vs. bad, low crime neighborhoods, easier commutes, access to conveniences, etc. We looked at both rentals and homes for sale. We looked at new developments and older homes. We covered as much ground as we could in one week. At the end of the week, we chose to buy a home and flew back to LA to pack. There was a small period of disconnect between us, H1S, and our home builder. Things eventually worked out and we moved to SA and into our home... although a week after we had anticipated. H1S helped us set up all of our utilities. The staff patiently answered our slew of questions. They even allowed us to use their office as our office in the week that we were "homeless" (living in a hotel). We had access to their computers...were able to print and fax...all free of charge. Water, coffee, & tea were always available. Overall, our experience with Housing 1 Source was very good. We'd recommend them to any military members who are moving to San Antonio. And yes, their services truly are FREE!

Housing 1 Source assist military members and families that are PCSing to the San Antonio area. They are a great one-stop shop for tons of PCS related to-do's. They can set you up with a realator or an apartment hunter to find your new place. Once you have a place they can help you get connected with cable, satelite, gas, water, electric, basically what ever you need. You can do these services on-site and becacuse you go through them many of the companies wave the deposits or give additional discounts for military. In addition they have other services such as auto-buying, banking, home security, you name it. Other cool features: Really nice and fun children's play area to keep your kids occupied All employees are licensed real estate agents First physical USAA ATM in their parking lot All services are FREE! When we first put our house on the market an investor offered a lowball cash offer, which we declined (but stayed in contact with). Three months later we had to 48 hours to close on our new house or lose it so we asked Lusi to contact the investor to say that we were willing to take the offer. She didn't even bother to reach out to them for several days, which meant we lost that opportunity! In the end, MY HUSBAND found another investor to sell our house to. We contacted them, negotiated, and sold the house. But guess what?! Lusi still got close to $18,000 for US selling our own house. I have no idea what she did to earn that money.

When we met Danny, we took a weekend trip to Texas. We wanted to meet our new realtor and visit some houses in San Antonio and the surrounding area, and we realized during this weekend to Texas we would need more time to find just the right home. The weekend we spent with Danny was a fun time getting to learn about him, and he learned about us so that we knew we were on the right track to find the right home. We needed to find a place to stay quickly once we move to Texas and during the weekend visit luck was on our side, Danny has a fully furnished Airbnb that we decided to rent while we search for our new home. Once we moved to Texas, we rented the Airbnb. We did find a house quickly (thanks to Danny listening to what we were looking for in a home) and we rented the Airbnb for four months while our new home was in the process of completion. Danny is very knowledgeable, professional and listens to his clients. During the closing process, Danny made sure we felt at ease during this process and took all our many questions and all were answered in detail. Danny was with us every step of the way. This was Sunday night, July 6th around 6pm. My wife, kids, and I were excited, celebrating this "would have been wonderful" purchase and new chapter in our life. We went to sleep that night. Monday, we went to work as normal expecting to fill out all paperwork in the evening as soon as we got home. But our realtor texted me to rush paperwork over to Renee by 6pm. So we are filling out paperwork and by 5:30pm, less than 24hrs of our verbal agreement, she texts our realtor and tells him that they have decided to go with another buyer! What about our verbal? Reason: because the seller got nervous because they had not received our official offer. We got the paperwork back to her before 6pm. But she refused to accept the offer. After some discussion with our realtor, she decided to "submit" our offer. Less than 24hrs, we went from excited and elated to sad, frustrated, confused, and angry. We were told both offers were comparable, but we were not asked to counteroffer. I am still confused. It doesn't make sense that we were not even asked if we wanted to increase our offer. It was just a done deal. The seller made their decision. And now what we thought would have been our forever home belongs to someone else.
