There are many residents who have lived there for years (moved in when it was a fine establishment with restaurants, doctor's offices, grocery, church - none of which exist now) who are elderly or handicapped and are often trapped in or unable to get to their apartment. Also, the air conditioning goes out on the regulator and the residents are sweltering. Bad plumbing, bed bugs, and abhorrent management. I wouldn't board my dog in this dump! wish there was a 0 star.

However, from the moment she arrived, the staff and residents made her feel welcomed, valued, and engaged. On her very first day, she was introduced to another resident who showed her around and helped her quickly connect with others. The staff has been exceptional--friendly, attentive, and always ready to help without making her feel like a burden. The variety of activities keeps her busy all day, and she's even enjoying things she never expected to like, along with many of her favorites. I love hearing her say, "They have so much for me to do, I don't have time to stay in my apartment!" The food is delicious and offers plenty of variety, and the facility itself is beautiful--more like a luxury hotel than a traditional assisted living community. The well-maintained grounds and lovely landscaping have her excited for the milder weather so she can relax outdoors among the flowers in the many seating areas with rocking chairs and benches. Sancerre Atlee Station truly lives up to its mission of fostering connections and enhancing shared experiences. Their warm, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service have made my mom's transition incredibly smooth, and both she and I highly recommend this community for anyone seeking a vibrant, supportive, and beautifully maintained assisted living environment.

They advertise using an app to keep families informed and we were also told this on the tour. Upon move in only a couple weeks later we are told they are "moving" away from that app. They have an app to pay rent but that doesn't work either and they won't provide login info because they are also moving away from that. I am completely in the dark about what is going on with my father. Is he eating, taking his medicine, participating in activities, etc.? They are still using a pad and paper at the front desk to have residents sign themselves in and out as they come and go. Why is this done on a computer so the entire staff has access? Am I really supposed to believe if the nurse comes to give his medicine and he isn't there, she is going to walk to the front desk and thumb though the pages to see where he is and when he is coming back? Food is good but they advertise 7am-7pm. Then upon move in my Dad is told he can't get breakfast until 8am, even though all the signs around the dining area still say 7-7. May seem like small stuff but it adds up when you are spending nearly $8,000 a month and not getting any information. THere were other far less expensive options but I was under the impression we would be getting more than those other places offered. I was wrong.

I have and would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, caring, and stress free place to live. Some of the reasons for my love of SMW are: 1. It is owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, which gives me a great deal of comfort knowing that they will never take advantage of me in any way, and they truly have MY best interests in mind always. 2. It is open to all, with no restrictions. In fact, many residents are not Catholic and are of many diverse backgrounds. 3. The staff at all levels are incredible. They are super qualified, helpful, and friendly at all times. I've never heard an unfriendly comment from anyone. 4. There are many different activities available and never any pressure to participate or not. Musical concerts of many kinds by outside professionals are a frequent and very pleasant activity. 5. Several different apartment floorplans are available. Mine fits me to a T! 6. Dinners are included in all plans and they provide a great opportunity to mingle with other residents and share some great stories and experiences. A great group of people. Please forgive the verbosity, but I want to convey what a great place this really is. If you're considering a retirement community, without a doubt, this is the place you want to be. I highly recommend it.

I must have visited this facility at least 3 times a week for a decade! I live nearby so it was convenient to walk there with my kids and visit my dad and the other elderly residents. We got to know many of the folks there, all the nurses and nuns as well. The front desk receptionist was always courteous and welcoming, the foyer is spacious and simply decorated. This place always felt more like an apartment building than a "nursing home." It was always fresh, bright, and clean. The floors were always so shiny and immaculate. We checked in and took the elevator to my dad's room. The living spaces there were always neat and organized, with laundry services provided. Residents can make their rooms as personalized as they'd like. We saw some lovely, well-appointed living rooms and bedrooms. The common areas are pristine and comfortable. We enjoyed seeing the other seniors there and took pleasure reading to them, helping with meals in the communal dining room, and even conducting Bible studies! The kitchenette has a couple tables, snacks and drinks for the residents. There's also a well stocked library and games. The nuns of the Little Sisters that run the facility provide spiritual support and many activities to keep the folks there encouraged and entertained when appropriate. They also have yard sales and festivals throughout the year. The nursing care was amazing and we felt confident in the safety and healthcare my father received. He was cared for in a dignified and gentle manner as he went through the stages of needed care. The staff made his adjustments for further medical assistance seamlessly. They certainly made a difficult situation much more easy to handle. Our minds were set at ease knowing my dad was being treated with compassion and love. Beautiful grounds surround the buildings, where residents can talks walks, pause for prayer and meditation and just enjoy being outside with nature. I'm so thankful for the extraordinary care my dad was given by the incredible people here. We couldn't have chosen a better home for him.

He was very nice and patient. I was able to explain her situation & he seemed empathetic. He worked out a deal with me, which I didn't know involved her having a roommate. Although I was concerned about that, I still entertained him and was ready to move forward with the process. It wasn't until I started completing the paperwork that I got turned off. They require that YOU be the guarantor and put YOUR CREDIT on the line for your family member. Even if you're the POA, YOU have to give them your SSN & assume full responsibility. Umm, NO SIR!! I have never had to do that as POA anywhere else. She is responsible for her own debt. I just pay it. I'm not allowing them to put an unnecessary inquiry on my credit. So, I immediately left and went to a different facility that I was looking at for her and signed the lease there. It's bad enough that this facility is outrageous in cost, but to also handle business like this is just too much. On top of that, the room that wanted to offer wreaked of urine and the roommate's family had control of the SHARED closet. I don't want her sharing a closet. Period. And the bathroom was on the roommate's side of the room & it clearly isn't cleaned much due to the strong Stench in the room that fills the room from the hvac system that also blew from that side of the room. It wasn't a good fit for us, but I did enjoy speaking to Reuben.

The staff at this assisted living facility could not care less about the residents. They ignore most of them each day and do what ever they can to avoid any level of care - even minimal. The residents are on their own. Please do your own due diligence. If you do, you will realize what we learned too late - that there are other, better, caring facilities who actually treat residents with respect, provide basic care, and actually give the support necessary.
