The second day, the spring thunder was rolling across the sky, filling all the upper and lower spaces with it's rumblings, then a moment of faded distance, followed by a final wrathful roar coming from behind the clouds. For you see, more and more - rightly or wrongly, I'm developing my desire to be alone with the sights and sounds of nature. From thunder clap to the little water crystals of mornings first dew, it all makes me feel a special way. As if nature is harmonizing within the depths of my souls mood. I'll sit for hours watching nature lay before me in a hush and there is no sense of movements, but I feel the flow of vital natural energy that no humans can disturb. It's here, below the trees sitting upon the grass which seems to offer soft words of comfort and sympathy. And now, in these moments - any human that might pierce suddenly upon my natural mood, seems to effect me greatly. Because one bad thought - problems in NYC, etc - and my souls tranquility is thrown into confusion.

In the 15 years we simply where not able to make friends with him because he is just not nice. The staff has been fine all these years, but not Steve. We have had a couple incidents over the years, one, my husband hit a $4 fiberglass driveway marker with our camper,we were backing out and he simple didn't see it, we stopped at the office to let Steve know and to offer to pay for it. He through an absolute fit. We gave him $10 and apologized and he was just terrible about it. We almost didn't return the following year but decided that we loved our site so much that we would just deal with it. The next incident, another campers car rolled down the drive way and crashed into the trees right next to our camper...just a few feet from where my children were playing. It was pretty scary....luckily everyone was ok....the owner never even checked on us. The last incident was about 2 years ago, Steve came down and scolded us for laughing too loud at 9 pm at night. Said we needed to quiet it down. I assure you we were not being loud or disrespectful....this is just how the owner is. This year when I tried to book our site for next year, I was told that the ocean sites were all going seasonal and we were out of luck. No warning, no apology, no nothing. So after 15 years of staying at Grays, all of our loyalty and all of the referrals and people we have sent there...we are done . Just like that. So for those of you thinking about Grays, it is beautiful, it is expensive, ( Steve charges for every little thing) and the owner is an ASS!!

There a dozen or so that are seasonal sites with more being converted to seasonal each year. Now these are not inexpensive sites but are reasonable for the location. We were traveling in our van and we made use of the shower facilities and the laundry facilities. There are two separate shower facilities - some on the exterior and two on the inside. The exterior showers were good - very typical for campgrounds. The showers on the inside were amazing! They were spacious and clean, hot water with great shower pressure, privacy and did I mention clean? The laundry room was attached and was very nice as well. If you have children (we did not), there seemed to be tons of things for them to do. Pickleball, volleyball, a paved surface and plenty of riding toys for littles and a playground. There was a nice firepit at each site and really nice touches through the park. The attendant in the office was so friendly and amazing! She, just like us, loves London (inside joke)! Anyway, I cannot recommend this place enough.

It was a small site, but had plenty of room for our tent, fire, picnic table, etc,. and you can drive right up. You can see other sites nearby, but there was still ample privacy and every site was extremely peaceful. The view was beautiful from our site as well. We clammed and went kayaking - both were awesome and super affordable. We steamed the clams back at our site and it was truly an all around awesome experience. The bay and grounds are really beautiful and it was nice to just walk around. Everyone we came into contact with was super friendly, but you can also have as much privacy as you want. We mainly cooked at our fire/campsite, but one night we did drive to the wharf to get lobsters which I'd highly recommend. It was beautiful over there and Five Island Lobsters was awesome.

The staff is super friendly and the store sells ice and other necessities. Every RV spot has a great ocean view and a personal trash bin that campground staff picks up everyday. No fault of the campground obviously but it was abnormally hot when we visited for 3 nights. The horseflies were very intense and were hard to get away from without being in the RV. The area is very tidal and you can walk very far out at low tide. It's a fun campground in a unique setting. Highly recommend but be prepared for all types of weather.

Pros: - Connie (owner?) was very sweet on the phone when booking and when we checked in. - Wooded, private sites with plenty of space for a tent, car, chairs, etc. - Tent site #12 was right next to a big field which we ended up having exclusive use of for frisbee and nigh sky watching - There's a pool (kids love pools) - 5 min drive to Bradbury Mountain State Park - 35 minutes from Portland - Clean (bathrooms, tent site, general campground) - Great for families and kids; very SAFE location and overall feeling Eh's: - There are many RV sites... probably more than tent sites, which adds a different vibe to the place if you're tenting. - There were many dogs at the RV sites... all yapping and barking all the time - RV people get up and start having a rollicking good time very early (and we were up at 730am!) Does this make it seem like I'm anti-RV camping? I'm not, I don't think... Cons: - "Quiet hours of 10pm - 8am strictly enforced!!" ... NOT SO MUCH. There were a few other families with kids near us, and it was great when everything got quiet around 9pm (when our young friend was tuckering out). Not great when around 10pm a car pulled in joining a tent site across the way and made lots of noise until 3am. 3AM is a terrible time to finally get to rest when you're with kids all day. Especially when the RV'ers wake you up at the sound of the rooster. - The "noisemakers" included a member of the staff/ daughter/ relative of the owners. We saw her working when we checked in, and then later when she brought her light-up hula-hoops to the site nearby. Her late night light show kept our tent feeling like a wooded rave for a few hours. - Public shaming of driving 10 MPH. oops! The MPH for the campground is 5. We went to the store after setting up our tent, and upon returning were driving too fast. As we slowed (approaching the stop sign at the office) a man (owner?) jumped out in front of us with his hand out and hollered "5 miles per hour!!!!!" in front of all the folks he was sitting on the lawn with. (from them: "where are they going?" "campsite 12!"). We came to a full stop, gave a thumbs up, and continued to our tent site at 3 MPH just to be safe. I'm sure this is my "stuff" but it made me feel weird for a little while....weird enough to include on this review I guess! Overall: I would probably come back, but asking young camping ravers to "please keep it down" at 230am sucks, so that leaves a sour taste. There's always a risk of loud neighbors when you share a wooded bedroom with dozens of campers, so the pros outweigh the cons here. Hopefully if we do come back, I'll remember to not use such a lead foot when driving. Again, Connie was a gem.

We are camping in a 34 foot R V and they put us very close to the bathrooms and showers. Showers were great and so was the laundry and you would think it would be loud where we were but it was not. I would say it is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed with and Freeport is only ten minutes away . The owners here make you feel like part of the family and they are working all the time to keep up this beautiful property. I would suggest it to anyone. It is an open woods environment with large grassy sites and good hook-ups.

We rented two cottages--the Water's Edge and the Rockycrest. The Water's Edge was the perfect little retreat for 2 couples with a gorgeous view of the water in the backyard and a prime location. The cottage could have been cleaned with more care (we found some dust and hair on some of the surfaces), but overall was quite lovely. The Rockycrest looked like it had seen better days, was located all the way at the back of the property across the street from the main resort, and the advertised kitchen was quite tiny. So your experience really does depend on the accommodation you reserve. The amenities really make this place quite a treat. The pool is heated and has wonderful views of the ocean. There are pickleball/tennis courts. There are lawn games and a volleyball net. There are bikes to ride for free. At night, there is an arcade and candlepin bowling. There are golf courses to play on (for a hefty extra fee) and motor boat rides to reserve (also for an extra fee). There are also daily scheduled events like tie-dye and make-your-own ice cream. We kept ourselves pretty entertained over one weekend here, and it's a fantastic place to bring kids (most of the people we encountered were here with little kids). The restaurant was surprisingly great. We only ate there for one lunch and all enjoyed our meals, particularly the excellent fish and chips. Breakfast is very expensive, so we didn't partake. Service was a little hit or miss. Check-in was very disorganized, but when we called the front desk to bring up extra items, they were accommodating, and all the staff we worked with were very pleasant. Overall, this was a memorable and fun vacation, and we would come back.

*Long Review Ahead* Please read if you're considering Sebasco…read more I stayed at Sebasco Harbor Resort July 14-16, 2025 during a 9-day road trip with my preteen son. I had high expectations: their website and Instagram portrayed a true resort with amenities like a bowling alley, arcade, pool, and polished dining. I booked a Lighthouse Room thinking it would be the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, what we experienced was not a resort, but a run-down campground with misleading marketing. Check-in & First Impressions From the moment we arrived, the property felt neglected. The reception area had a dead plant shedding all over the carpet, and the staff member checking me in looked unkempt and could not locate my reservation or key at first. There was no warm welcome, no orientation... just a finger pointing down a road. The parking lot greeted us with an overflowing dumpster and swarms of flies. Room Conditions & Safety Concerns Our Lighthouse room (#2) was unsafe and unclean. The card reader on the building was broken, the doorknob to our room was loose, and there was no interior lock. As a single mom traveling with my child, I felt extremely vulnerable. The room itself was dirty: dust and hair on windowsills, bugs on the ceiling, no trash cans, no pillowcases, a sink that barely drained, and bouncy, cheap "campground" beds. Sound traveled so badly through gaps under doors that I could hear neighbors coughing. Service & Dining I had pre-ordered chocolate covered strawberries... instead of the promised "nice handwritten note," they were dropped off with a crumpled Post-it scribble. At dinner, service was poor and the food was low quality... the truffle fries were made with rancid oil. Amenities - Closed & Misrepresented My son was most excited about the bowling alley and arcade. After wandering in the dark trying to find them, my key didn't work and the facilities were locked. Only after repeated calls (with no answer at first) did I learn these amenities are closed Mon-Wed due to staffing. None of this was disclosed on the website nor check in. In reality, many of the "resort" amenities are either unavailable or poorly maintained. Management Response At checkout, I spoke directly with the manager. Instead of empathy or resolution, he brushed off my concerns as "rustic charm" and sorry lack of employees. Rustic charm does not excuse unsafe, dirty rooms and misleading advertising. Despite requesting a partial refund, nothing was offered. Bottom Line & Recommendations Sebasco is not a resort - it is a tired campground charging $300-500/night resort prices. Unless there is a complete overhaul in branding, cleanliness, safety, and employee culture, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Maine has many beautiful, authentic resorts; this is not one of them.
