For over a month I tried to recover my property from Hermes aka Parcelnet. I even wrote twice to the CEO Martijn de Lange with no reply. The executive office of Hermes does not care about what you, the customer, may have lost to their incompetent parcel courier system, as evinced by the emails I've received from them. After a month of emailing, here is a direct quote from correspondence received from Hermes Executive Office: "Please be advised a thorough investigation has been completed and the item was damaged and in no condition to be delivered and the parcel was destroyed." Parcels don't get 'lost', they get stolen by Hermes staff. Hermes have admitted to intentionally destroying £760 of my property and there is no way I'll recover that money. read more

Absolutely the worst parcel delivery company; not only in the UK, but worldwide. They are liars. You can change you schedule and appointments for days waiting for the delivery. Their drivers say they tried to deliver, but they actually don't show up. They lie. No way to talk to a live person. No way to get anywhere with their chat bot. You can wait all day before seeing a notification 15 minutes before the delivery window opens. The 15-30 minutes after the delivery window, you're notified that the window has changed to a later time. This company should not be in business. read more

I've added this as I want to warn anyone who runs a small business. We were away from 10am on 27th October to 4pm on 30th October. We returned to find two 'unsuccessful delivery' cards from Hermes, one with a name and phone number, the other with only a phone number. I rang the first number and was told that, because he had been unable to deliver it, it had been passed to a colleague. I rang the other number; this person at first denied all knowledge. When I pointed out I'd got his number from the card, he suddenly remembered that he'd been unable to deliver it and it had been sent back. Fortunately, the supplier has agreed to send a replacement parcel by Royal Mail, but this is costing them money, which they will almost certainly be unable to reclaim. It seems very unfair they should be out of pocket because of Hermes. I think this is the worst delivery company I know I order something from a company which uses this crap company they said they lost my first parcel so I phoned the company to say I had a text from Hermes so they said they would sent another next day delivery thinking I will get my parcel tomorrow well I thought wrong because said there is a delay in senting this parcel still haven't received it plus it's no good phoning them because it's a waste of time because you just speak to a computer please don't use this company they are a job read more

Ordered items from Play.com & Matalan in December (the 15th!) and was advised when I placed these orders that delivery was guaranteed before Xmas. These couriers reckon they tried to deliver both parcels 3 times!!! I gave my work address for delivery which is a Brewery and is manned 24/7 and no deliveries were attempted on ANY of these dates or times (i have even checked the CCTV!) I finally got my parcels 27th December (way passed giving for Xmas!) and both the originating companies will not take responsibility for these couriers not delivering on time which is poor on their part. If I know a company will use these people for their deliveries I give them a wide berth! read more

Follow up note to Hermes: Please don't keep insisting black is white in the face of all the evidence. I've just had to send them photos to prove my case, when they could have got the information by looking on Streetview. In the end, I just suggested they move this driver to a different area, but they refuse even to do that. He has been allowed to invent a non-existent gate and claim to have read non-existent instructions on my package (it really isn't that difficult to check these things so why do they just keep believing his lies?). Original review: Since when did hurling a package into someone's back garden (when they are at home) count as 'successful delivery'. Following a really disturbing experience with a very nasty Hermes courier in mid January, I was frightened to open my front door for weeks, so avoided having anything delivered to my home for a while. Then I couldn't face going all the way to a soft furnishings store to collect quite a heavy package. My order was clearly marked 'pls deliver to neighbour if no one at home'. Unfortunately the company in question uses Hermes. We received an email advising the approximate 2 hour delivery time and one hour in, I noticed a card in my letter box claiming no one was at home and the package had been left 'over your gate'. I immediately rushed to my front gate, past a single trail of large footprints in the otherwise virgin snow and of course nothing was there. Assuming the package to have been stolen by the first passer by, I was about to phone the sender, when it occurred to me to look in the back garden. There was a large parcel lying in the snow by a narrow stretch of fence adjacent to my next door neighbour's front garden. I then opened my front door, intending to go next door, when my neighbour came out of his own house and confirmed that there was a single trail of large footprints in his front garden, leading to my back fence. Hermes took 2-3 weeks to speak to the driver involved in the previous incident, who denied anything untoward had happened and claimed his behaviour was due to being 'illegally parked' (in a residential street with no parking restrictions). This time he has invented a gate where none exists (the only access to my back garden is by walking through the house). I have had to email Hermes to complain as they refuse to provide a contact phone number. By yesterday afternoon I had received a 'query resolved' email from them along with a very casual apology about the 'inappropriate conduct of our courier'. Not good enough. HERMES Courrier REFUSED TO GIVE RECEIPTS FOR PARCELS SENT BACK. Of course 2 parcels sent back disappeared and the JDWilliams are refusing to refund me. I have to pay for stolen goods which HERMES Courrier took from me with no receipts. The signature presented when I received is nothing like my signature because I never signed for them at the time. HERMES Courrier used to bash the door down, throw the parcel down and run away as fast as he could. Do not ever want to use HERMES again as I can not keep paying for items that HERMES has stolen from me. Ordered goods in December. Still haven't arrived. Used the Hermes tracker which informed me that my parcel was at Castleford and being delivered. That was on 29 December!! Contacted the company I purchased the goods from and they are repaying me all my costs. I have contacted Trading Standards and Hermes will be investigated regarding my complaint. I have just had a parcel left outside my door saying I wasn't in. I was in and the driver was obviously in too much of a hurry to wait for me to answer. The parcel has been left at the completely wrong address I've tried to call Hermes but cannot speak to anyone so the recipient will not get her parcel and I am left with something that is not mine and cannot get in touch with anyone to advise them of the mistake. Hermes is the WORST delivery service possible. Every time we miss a parcel we receive a card with ONLY the number of the house on it. There is no name, no tracking number, no phone number nothing. When you call hermes about the mysterious package they tell you that they cannot give you any information about the parcel and that you have to contact the seller. Being use to shop online, I cannot even deduce from which seller it might be most of the time. In my eye and on many occasion hermes denoted itself my it's laziness and its poor customer service. This is a very generous rating - this company is awful and gives false tracking information. I ordered items from Holland & Barrett & Boohoo.com. Both times Hermes claimed to attempt delivery three times and leave calling cards but I was in when they claimed to make one attempt an on all the other occasions no cards were left. I even pre-empted this would happen on the last occasion so phoned Boohoo.com to give further delivery instructions and ask if Hermes could call me if they have any problems. I also left a note on my front door to leave in the parcel a safe place or with neighbour and they again claimed they'd attempted to deliver and left a card - but not surprisingly again no card was left or attempt to deliver was made. Useless service and unfortunately as a result I will not be using H&B or Boohoo.com again as their items never get delivered. Stick with royal mail as at least they leave a card and as a customer you can collect from the depot. read more

I sent an gold iPhone for a customer on eBay and the phone went missing and then was told by 02 "IT HAD BEEN USED WITH LOCATIONS" Hermes said the phone was in Thurrock in Essex then changed story about in Nuneaton. sent email and they sent back with a refund of 50.00 (phone worth 350.00) After a few emails back and forth they are not interested in trying to find this phone and want to refund me 50.00 (Cheek) Police are now involved and proceeding with court case against this company!! I wish i would read reviews before hand before booking these terrible service. Hadn't received my parcel for a couple of days, thinking it was coming from Zavvi by Royal Mail, so went on to track the order. Heart sank when I saw it was Hermes! Or is it? Tracking website claims courier has tried to deliver it twice - no cards left either time. I'm in a block of flats but my neighbour is in every day, he lives next to the front door, and he's said nobody has even tried to gain entry. Helpfully there's no door buzzer but there's usually him or someone else about to let you in - if you bother knocking. But we'll never know if they even made it to the door as - no cards left either time. Contacted Hermes though their live web chat to see if there was some way of contacting the courier to arrange delivery for after work when I'm home. Nope because it's a 'company' [??aren't they their biggest customers??] sending the parcel and it's not their [Hermes'] problem. So there's nothing they can do to help. Quick frankly that's ridiculous. It doesn't matter who the sender is, if the person physically delivering that item is a complete incompetent unable to leave a simple card through a letter box, it's the employer's responsibility to ensure they can do the job and either re-train or sack them if they can't. It's also the employer's responsibility to contact that employee and find out why they haven't left a card and how they can rectify the problem for the customer. Guess Hermes really don't give a monkeys about the quality of their staff or the integrity of the brand. They obviously take no pride in it as customers service is non-existent. No point having a web chat service if the people at the other end can't actually do anything. What a complete bunch of muppets. Now I've no idea what's going to happen with the parcel and this is more trouble than it's worth. Most certainly never going anywhere near another website that uses Hermes. read more

Shocking company to be avoided at all costs. Customer service staff do not have even a basic grasp of English, and simply resort to cutting you off when they tire of the conversation. They claim they do not have records of the collection address, but are unable to explain how they can possibly collect parcels without this vital piece of information. They claim they are unable to contact their own couriers, who are self employed. Frankly I cannot believe this. The net is awash with one star reviews. Parcels are stolen, damaged, mis delivered. Signatures are forged. Couriers damage property. If anything goes wrong they seem to hide behind appalling, web only customer service, and apparently routinely refuse refunds or damage claims. Wish I had read the reviews first. Will certainly never, ever use this pathetic excuse for a courier again. read more

There appears to be no easy way to contact them as their phone number refers you back to there web site !without the option to talk with someone. The retailer involved has now confirmed that my address is correct and has resent the parcel using a different delivery company. read more

Never use them! They claim to have attempted delivery four times in a week. I was waiting for a Christmas present for my husband. On the days and times they claim to have attempted delivery someone was at home so I am not too convinced that they even attempted. Hermes! That courier company is a disgrace! Why are businesses still using them? I ordered for some items from The Brilliant Gift Shop last week. I have been at home since Monday waiting for the delivery. No one has knocked on my door and the next thing I got was an email saying Hermes have been to my house twice to deliver and will attempt again. Hermes even claimed their delivery man was at the house around 9:30a.m again to deliver. I have not taken my bath for fear of being in the bathroom when they come; yet they have been here and could not deliver. No card of anything was left. I have 2 complaints about this company. The first time was about the rude driver for a package that wasn't mine. I was grateful I wasn't the one doing business with them at that point. Now, unfortunately, I have the displeasure of being the one doing business with them. I ordered a package from Amazon and the seller chose Hermes as the courier. Had I had a say in it, I would never have allowed it. Unfortunately, I missed my delivery (this is a completely normal thing, other couriers have methods in place to handle it). It was attempted twice and both times I was not in. I received 2 cards. The ONLY information on the cards is my flat number, and the date delivery was attempted. Neither card has a contact number or any information on how to arrange for redelivery or pickup. I don't have a tracking number, I don't have a receipt number. There is no contact number on the actual website, so I found a number via Yelp to try to get in touch. When I contacted the number, there was an automated recording that told me my options were to either contact my retailer or use the MyHermes website, it then auto-disconnects the call. I don't know what my retailer is going to do about it, as they don't have the package once it's handed off to the courier. That's the courier's responsibility, and the service that is paid for. I have contacted my retailer at this point and am now waiting for a reply, but I would like to be able to handle redelivery or pickup on my own, at my own convenience and not through a 3rd party in which I have to wait out business hours to receive replies from. I will be giving Hermes a 1 star review on Yelp. If it were possible, I would absolutely LOVE to request Amazon ban the use of Hermes by themselves or the sellers that use them. Much prefer Royal Mail as when I miss a delivery, I can just pop round and grab it when I'm actually available. read more
