Saturdays May thru October, you gotta go. Something you have to experience at least once…read more The spirit of Taos, the smells, the kind people, the music and farming culture all come together for this spirited (socially distanced & masked in 2020) party in the square which is: Taos Farmers Market. It's hard to pick my most favorite part of the market. -I simply adored the robust smell of ROASTING HATCH CHILIS in the cool fall air as we made our way through the market. -WILD LEAVEN BAKERY BREADS are flavor bombs which are in-sanely delicious. Make no mistake, toasted with butter it takes you to heaven. In hindsight I wish I had bought a few loaves and brought them home to freeze. Next time I will. They also had tasty hand pies which were awesome breakfast for that morning. -The family selling TAMALES were awesome, kind, and their food was delicious. -RODRIGUEZ S & J FARM was there selling their RAUL'S POSOLE. We had the unique luck of finding them at the Santa Fe Farmer's Market the weekend before. We cooked our first bag of Posole during the week and knew we wanted a few bags more to take home. So when we found them in Taos we were super excited. Also, their posole is a great gift to take home to family and friends who enjoy cooking. All and all, I liked the Taos Farmer's Market better than the Santa Fe Farmer's Market, which I didn't expect at all. The Santa Fe Market rocked and it was much larger. The Taos Farmer's Market was much smaller...more intimate. I think getting to experience the roasting of the hatch chilis really was really something special for me, which the weekend before we didn't get to see at the Santa Fe Farmer's Market. October 2020

The blue corn papayas with sour cream and green chili are a must. There is a lady that sells a lavender tea made with spices and oatmilk that is so unusual and one of the best things I've tasted!

We had a bit of traffic getting closer & finding parking as it's pretty limited. Also be prepared to pay $1-3 for parking at the stall. There's outdoor and indoor vendors. Lots of farmers selling their fresh produce near the front! I tried a blue maize pupusa on the indoor vendor for $10 & it was pretty cool to try. I'd recommend to add some salsa or the cream since the pupusa is pretty dry. Bring cash as well where you can save 50 cents on some items Lots of galleries & artists & jewelers if you keep walking down as well.

It helps so there isn't as much crowding while you're trying to go through. I have been to farmers markets in multiple states, but I have never seen one with a gift shop! That was very interesting to see. The market itself had a nice array of fresh produce, food, and artists' work. It was cool getting to see them roasting fresh chile and the band that played was soo much fun! The best booth for us was Dancing Turtle Studio. Absolutely stunning pieces of art and my guy bought me one of the hot air balloon pieces to commemorate our 1st anniversary. It honestly couldn't have been more perfect! The artist herself was incredibly sweet and wonderful to talk with. It was amazing getting to hear about her process as well!
