A dedicated college students dream, in my opinion. My good friend had an interview here for the PA program. We are from Michigan so this was definitely a change of scenery. The campus itself is extremely small but relatively new. It looks like the perfect campus to dedicate all your time for your studies. I personally LOVED the location it's so beautiful and literally a breath of FRESH air. Hoping to attend this beautiful university! read more

From the Business

Specialties

Heritage University is a non-profit, independent, non-denominational, accredited institution of higher education offering undergraduate and graduate education. Its mission is to provide quality, accessible higher education to multicultural populations which have been educationally isolated. Within its liberal arts curriculum, Heritage offers strong professional and career-oriented programs designed to enrich the quality of life for students and their communities.

History

Established in 1982.

Heritage University is unique in its origins. Both old and new, it is a successor institution to Spokane's Fort Wright College (formerly Holy Names College), founded in 1907 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. A new institution was born in 1981 through a change in name, location of administrative offices, ownership, and sponsorship. Under the impetus of two Yakama Nation women, Martha Yallup and Violet Lumley Rau; Sr. Kathleen Ross; and leaders from business, religious, and education communities in the Yakima Valley incorporated as Heritage College so they could acquire the outreach programs that Fort Wright College operated in Omak and Toppenish. On July 1, 1982, the transition to Heritage College became official. The new institution began offering undergraduate and graduate degrees as a separate, private, independent, nonprofit college, with its main campus near Toppenish and satellite campuses in Spokane and in Omak.

this place sucks and are dishonest and cancels appts with you for your drive and refuses to refund…read moreyour money when they don't follow Wa state laws and there own contract. they do not give full 30 hr course. they let the kids go 10 minutes early daily and they think this is OK!! I was told by ana the owner no refund will be given once a permit is issued. stating you signed and initialed. she won't even follow her own contract and fulfill her side of the contract and complete the classes as required by state law for my daughter. you can only get a permit after signing up for the driving class at 15 they think they don't have to teach our kids according to Wa state laws!!! I would NOT suggest this place. my daughter has done NO DRIVING and 2 of her 4 drive appts got cancelled 1 because the instructor Myra has a emergency and 2nd ana - owner cancelled the day before stating she forgot she has a appt next day. when these had been scheduled 2 weeks in advance. class started jan 29, and class ended Feb 16. hmmmm. ... and my daughter has yet to take her final test. Ana the owner refuses to give me my money back when she WONT a follow her own contract and wa state laws. they are a RIPP OFF. I'm sUte some parents might be ok with this so they can just get there kids classes done. I care about my kids learning in a fair, no stress environment , and among HONEST people. there are LAWS governing these schools. speak up and protect your kids and others out there on the road. they need to be taught right. the laws are there for a reason!!! avoid this place They are only money hangry. Don't care about our kids safety!!! I was told on the phone rates were $500 for a course I get there and they charged me $600. ‼‼ when I asked the owner she had about this she had NO RESPONSE

Social Worker = check Fireman = check…read moreDetective = check Gravity Wave Observatory Operator = check Dental Hygienist = check Police Officer = check And the list goes on.... These are the types of organizations we need more of. RGI put on a Youth Career Fair, and about 250 kids from the Yakima Valley got to see 17 different types of "Career People" (I was the Professional Yelper....jokes. I am the Gravity Wave nerd!). RGI ran a very cool event. As a presenter, I felt it was very organized, and I had a great time. For the kids, I hope they had a fun time (I fielded lots of questions, and acted plenty goofy making gravity wave "burp" and "whoop" noises). I wish I was able to see all these kind of examples of jobs when I was an 8th grader!!

This place is the best FBO on the field at Yakima. They offer all the usual services and repair…read moreservices that any other FBO does but they consistently go out of their way to make your sometimes very short stay comfortable and convenient. I've flown in here quite a bit and requested their courtesy car twice. Both times it has been unavailable so a member of their staff has personally chauffeured me around town to take care of the business that I needed to take care of. They've even bought me lunch before! What a great group of people.
