Gorgeous day for a walk in the park
Que N.

Heritage Park is one of the more recent additions to the Camellia City, nestled right by the ever so lovely Bayou Bonfouca. Conveniently located on Bayou Lane and right behind the old Slidell Train Station, Heritage Park is open to the public daily from 6am-10pm. Throughout the year, various events (concerts, festivals, movie nights, etc) are held at Heritage Park. The park features: a walking/jogging path, a large gazebo (which can be rented), Scoggin station (also can be rented), playground, splash pad (the kiddos seem to really enjoy it during the summer), 7 shelters, scattered park benches, and a free boat launch. It's a nice park to go to for a morning/evening walk or jog, taking your kids out, fishing, boating, and get everyone out of the house to enjoy the beautiful outdoors when the weather permits. Heritage Park is family-friendly and a good spot for a picnic/bbq/get togethers. I always see the high schoolers here for their graduation/homecoming/prom pics too! As a reminder- pets, skates, and skateboards are not allowed. Aside from that, this clean, beautiful park is worth a visit if your travels take you to Slidell.

This is Slidell's newest park and its a great one. It's located on the banks of scenic Bayou Bonfunca where you can launch your boat free of charge. The main playground area has a one way in/out entrance so you can actually sit and relax a little and not constantly scan the crowd of crazy sugar-high children looking for the one with your DNA. In the summer the splash pad is turned on and the kids love running around in the jets of water. Shoot, I love running around in the jets. There's a large amphitheater where the Louisiana Plilharmonic Orchestera holds a wonderful and free concert every spring. A large gazebo can be rented for parties as well. The only con is that because it is a fairly new park there aren't that many large trees so not much shade. Trees have been planted all around the park but they're still babies. Oh, and no pets, skates or skateboards are allowed in the park.

Cute park right on the water! They have an adorable wood play structure and splash pad for kids. There is a good paved areas for walking/running. The City of Slidell always put on free concerts and movies here. Walking distance from so much in Old Town.

Established in 1942, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the most-visited park in Louisiana has nature trails, a sandy beach, a new, all-inclusive playground, a splash pad, and the ruins of an 1829 sugar mill situated among towering oaks. Huge beautiful park! A real treasure find for this Alaskan!…read more Took the Sugar Mill trail which is a nice, wide gravel trail. Very easy to traverse for just about anyone. Some walked while some biked. Sugar Mill is a looping trail about a mile long. The alligator boardwalk trail was closed, likely due to damage from Ida and hasn't been repaired yet. There was another trail, but we did not take it. The massive cypress are just awesome! The Spanish moss slowly wavering in the air as you walk underneath these giants is just captivating to me! We did not encounter any creatures except squirrels and a male Orchard Orbweaver and his impressive web. Sooo much space and things to do here we didn't even do all of it. There's big open fields for playing, a playground, tons of parking available. I did see the pier and water of Lake Pontchartrain in the distance, but we were too hungry to keep exploring lol $3 per person to enter the park - 100% worth it
