The most interesting movie theatre.. I am new to Altus and have been here twice now, for Top Gun 2 and Jurassic World. I realize how spoiled I am coming from Dallas with the stadium seating and comfortable seats, which this theatre has none of. You can hear the movie in the next auditorium playing and before the previews it is really dark in the auditorium so it's hard to see who is sitting where. I will say the prices for admission and food are great and nice people. It's currently June 2022 and today we got a trailer for Top Gun 2, scheduled to come out in Summer 2020. Obviously it was delayed due to covid but it was bizarre seeing a trailer for a movie supposed to come out 2 years ago. But this is THE movie theatre in the town so better enjoy it. read more

They allow young kids to come in and be loud I hated this movie experience. Cursing, talking about things they don't understand and no one did anything, the kids are local walked and a handful of them young with no parent we watched the bogey man . I was irritated read more

Basic movie theater. Reminds me of the dollar theaters but with new movies. Altus is lucky to have a theater though. One of the only things to do at night. I would recommend going there but don't have any expectations. read more

This theatre barely meets a one star.... we get it.. it's a local theatre in a small town but the sound of the movie is so low I can hear the people around me breathe. Also...you can hear the AC unit.. which means it's louder than the movie. I'm disappointed but not surprised. The movie I'm sitting in is a Quentin Tarantino movie, and this theatre just ruined that movie for me. read more

Heading to Lawton I gave them several opportunities to get it right. I let them know on one occasion that they had a blown channel in a speaker because it was crackling during the movie. Three weeks later same problem. Floor sticky and we were in the first show of the day. Temp control is a challenge because it is always mostly hot. In Jurassic World it felt like we were in the jungle, must have been to get us in the mood. We were literally sweating. I guess we will be taking the trip to either Vernon or Lawton from now on. read more

It's hard to review theaters out here since I am used to new, stadium seating type theaters in California. So I am trying to compare these theaters with the ones in Amarillo and the one in Childress. It is somewhere in between those two. It is a small theater. Only a few screens. The ticket is $7. Not too bad. The drinks and stuff are cheaper than Amarillo theaters but the sizes are smaller too. There aren't any stadium seats but the theaters are clean nonetheless. I don't recall my feet sticking to the floor. We decided it is worth an hour drive to go there as opposed to the Childress theater. It is also decent enough to save the extra hour to Amarillo. read more

We did visit this theater frequently while in town, but partly because we like movies and there isn't a ton of evening opportunities for entertainment in Altus. The theater has an awkward setup in that you enter and exit the seating rows on one side only. Most theaters have an aisle on both sides of the row. If there is a line for tickets you will be waiting outside the theater without shade or cover from rain. The concession stand was fast, and prices were reasonable. Each time we found the theater and restrooms to be very clean. At one of the movies we went to they skipped the ads and previews going straight to the movie. According to the manager this is what caused the movie to keep stopping during the show. Each time an audience member had to go out to tell the staff that the movie had stopped. When the movie was finally restarted it was never in the same place it stopped. Once we had to go out to ask the manager to rewind the movie a ways. After the third time it stopped the manager offered us vouchers to see the movie at a different time. We did return to see the movie in full later in the week. We had to laugh because they forgot to turn out the theater lights until the last few minutes of the show. That being said, the staff was very friendly and its still a decent option for entertainment in Altus. read more

Ok being an avid yelper for the past 5 years (with my GOLD badge) I usually side 100 percent with other yelpers especially when they say something sucks. Yes I have been to much nicer theaters. I am a movie theater snob. Have you ever heard of iPic theaters?? yeah...badass. BUT this place wasn't THAT bad. To watch some kid movies with my 4 year old it is a decent experience. I wouldn't come here on a date night with the hubby but an occasional treat for my child is doable. I went in with lowered expectations and enjoyed myself despite what I read. I think others should do the same. read more

Horrible. I keep giving them another chance because I love movies, but every time it is a let down. Super 8 had a green line through it and the staff just shrugged and said they knew, Thor went out of focus and they had to turn the lights on, stop the movie, and started it up somewhere forward in the movie so that we missed some of it, horrible bosses had a blown speaker and the speaking was almost impossible to understand. That is just the past 3 I have seen there. Always walk out asking why I just don't drive the hour to Lawton. Oh, one more warning about this place...if you go watch a movie that is quieter and a action movie is next door, don't bother. Someone please come build a new theatre in Altus. read more

My husband and I are movie buffs. We love all kinds of films and we've attended multiple film festivals. We've been to all kinds of theatres, from the old and rundown to the brand new and super fancy. We've been to this theatre twice: first to watch a quiet, thoughtful movie and a return visit to watch a loud action movie. The individual theatres here are small and narrow, so it feels a little like watching a movie on a big-screen TV at the end of a bowling lane. The sound system is okay but nothing special (no surround sound or Dolby here) and the seating is not stadium style, but the chairs are fairly new and comfortable. Both times we've been here, the floors have been really sticky and the theatres have been full of leftover popcorn, drinks, and candy from the previous screenings. It seems like they don't clean the theatres between screenings, only at the end of the night. Watching a quiet, thoughtful movie in this theatre was a big mistake because we could hear everything happening in the theatres on both sides of us. It was really distracting and kind of ruined the movie experience for us. My husband didn't want to go back again after that, but I recently convinced him to try a loud action film that I didn't want to have to drive an hour or more to see. This was a much better type of movie to see in this theatre, though we managed to sit next to an air vent on the wall that rattled every time the air conditioning kicked on, about every 20 minutes or so. I've heard the owners are working on addressing the lack of sound baffling between the theatres, so this may improve over time. It's not a bad theatre (I have certainly been to worse), it's just not one I would go to for anything other than a movie that I knew would be really loud. I could also see this being a good theatre for kids movies. Definitely keep your expectations low when going to this theatre. read more

Look folks, this is a small town, and so expecting a whole lot out of entertainment, restaurants, even grocery stores can be a bit disappointing. I was raised with theaters like Graumann's Chinese, The Pantages, and The Egyptian. SO I know a good theater when I'm in one. But I love the family atmosphere at Heritage. Yes, it's no Pantages, but its good for a night at the movies, pop corn and a cherry lime aide. Hey if I want fancy, I'll drive to Lawton with their new Big screen theater, or Moore for dinner and a movie at the same time. But friends and I can meet here locally, share a good flick and have a fun evening for a very reasonable price. Plus the folks that work there and run the place and courteous, friendly and just make it a good evening. I do think they should toss the popcorn from Sunday and not serve it on Tuesday but other than that, I can live with less than fantastic. read more

The family and I wanted to see 'Joyful Noise' so we decided since we weren't going to Lawton we would go to this theatre. Well, the theatre we were in now has a digital picture. This is why I gave them 3 stars this time vs. 2 the last time. Once again though, we could overhear the action movie in the adjacent theatre. At one point, an explosion came from the other theatre which made folks in our theatre react by jolting and sighing. Overall, it was a good experience this time, but if you are planning on seeing a movie with a lot of action and sound, then go to Lawton to watch it. read more

My husband and I are co-owners of this theatre. We appreciate the comments, even though most are generally negative. Since we purchased the theatre we have taken several steps and invested significant sums of money in an effort to improve the movie experience for all of our patrons. Over the past few years we have purchased and installed a state of the art digital sound system, new theatre seating, remodeled the concession area and restrooms and most recently installed state of the art digital projectors for every auditorium. We do realize the problem with sound bleeding over from one auditorium to the next and hope to eventually improve, if not eliminate, that as well, but there are structural issues with the way the theatre walls were originally constructed that pose engineering and other problems that need to be worked out before that can be accomplished. Small screen size. Blurry picture. Picture is rarely if ever in focus on a couple of the screens. No stadium seating, the people in front of you will annoy you. Get out for a weekend and go somewhere else. This is our only option in Altus, Oklahoma for movies and it is just not worth it. I would say pass and go somewhere else. Save up for a nice flat screen and stay home. read more
