Beth and her team are great teachers. My son has fun, all while learning the guitar. Highly recommend.

After I-don't-know-how-many-years, Guitar Center is still a go-to for musical gear and instruction…read more Yet for me, it's a necessary evil. [Begin Cynical Section] Doing business here reminds me of the reason I left the music business as a career. Narcissists outlast the rest of us. I've been eyeing seven and eight string electrics cuz I'm trying to self-teach myself some shred metal and six strings just aren't enough enough rock to shred with. I found a 7-string on the used wall here, came back a week later it had sold. Came back again found another one that I thought was priced $100 too high, only to realize it was on the used wall, but was actually new. Oops. Third guitar was an eight-string used with some damage at a good price. I asked the guy if he could do an out-the-door-price below sticker with some cables and he said couldn't. I told him I'd been shopping here for decades and that wasn't true. The answer, "corporate is trying to move away from that image." I'd already done my homework and couldn't beat the price online. But, was still tempted to walk because the guy was a kinduva d***. But, it's a music store right? They deal with people all day who have rock dreams and believe that American Idol is a real thing. [End Cynical Section] The store is fairly clean, though stock was uneven in various areas in all three visits. The guitar walls are always full. Keyboard area is weirdly different each time I go. The cable racks were somewhat bare. We had to use the bathroom, which I won't again, and both guys and girls were out of toilet paper and paper towels. Hand sanitizer was available on a stand at the door, even before the restrictions began, which I appreciated. So, it's ok. Honestly, I'll shop online and buy somewhere else unless I absolutely have to. If you want to have your hands on the guitar, the only way to do it is do your research and go in. Maybe you'll find someone who will come off the price a little, or maybe this guy wasn't blowing smoke up my a**. Good luck!

Always nice and helpful staff. Maybe too helpful considering my husband spent 5 grand last time we…read morewere in there haha.

Anyway, our daughter is pleased as punch with her bass lessons, and it's affordable, close to home, they're flexible with occasional rescheduling, and she's growing in her new hobby. I thought cool I have the whole store to myself, not so fast. I was kicked out for not wearing a mask. Now, it's no secret that Guitar Center is practically bankrupt and about 6 seconds away from complete collapse so you'd think they'd be doing anything they can to get customers in the store spending money, not kicking them out for no mask. I completely understand that even though Governor Abbott released the mask mandate they can still require it. I get it. But, why be so militant about it? It's rather stupid to be starved for cash and customers then kick them out because you're scared of their breath. I don't expect Guitar Center to protect me from anything but I do expect them to sell guitars. That's all they have to do. It's their property and they're free to make the rules even if they put themselves out of business. In a free market I just took my cash to their competitor in Dallas who was operating his story just like it was 2018. I got the Strat I wanted and he got my cash. Rest In Peace Guitar Center.

After that happened, there were no other lesson times that worked for us with a teacher we preferred, so I reached out to cancel. I used their Contact Us form on the website and also called to cancel, but I never received a response. A couple of months later, they contacted me saying they had not received payment. I explained that I had already sent a message requesting cancellation months earlier. They told me their policy is that cancellation only becomes effective thirty days after they send a cancellation form, but they never sent one. They even acknowledged that they do not regularly check their emails and said I should have come in person to cancel. I do not understand why I am being penalized when they were the ones who were unresponsive. I followed the process that was available to me at the time. For them to refuse to honor the date I originally contacted them feels unfair and comes across as a way to keep charging customers longer. Their pricing is also very high for what you actually receive. We have since switched to a private tutor who charges half the price, is more flexible, and also offers recitals. There are clearly better options out there. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Creative Soul. The communication, policies, and customer service were very frustrating.

Young Musicians - picking out her first violin

Great experience(s)! After many years of disuse and no…read morepractice, I decided to bring out my good ol' violin and take a shot at it again. To my dismay, when my sister had borrowed it many years ago, she had broken both of my bows and failed to tell me. Dejected but determined, I went on the hunt for a new one. After a bit of research online and visiting a couple of shops closer to me, I decided to make the 45 minute drive out to Young Musicians. They had a great deal of selection online, so after calling I decided the drive might be worth it. Upon arrival, I found that not only were they extremely knowledgeable, they were also very competitively priced and had a huge on-hand selection. Young Musicians strictly deal in stringed instruments and their corresponding accessories, repairs, and if you don't want to buy, rentals. I also picked up (in a second trip) a new set of strings and a (well advised) practice book. During my most recent trip, I brought my instrument with me and he offered to replace one of the strings for me right there in the shop. While he was replacing the string, he noted that my bridge was very high, recommended that I might consider lowering it, and then offered to reshape it for me while I waited. Oh. My. God. What a huge difference it has made in both the sound and the ease of playing! Little did I know, that I had been playing with a bridge much too high for MY ENTIRE LIFE. I have had the bridge replaced before, and they just shaped it the same as the old one! I didn't know any better because, I'm talking, I had been playing this way since I was seven years old and it had ALWAYS been hard. I had always wondered why I had a more difficult time with vibrato and quickness of fingering after practicing as long and hard as I had while the other students seemed to play with ease. Had it not been for this wonderful place, I likely would have continued playing with difficulty for the rest of my life out of ignorance. In addition to this, the woman helped me pick out a beautiful bow that handles well which had further encouraged me to play longer. After visiting just about every shop on the Tarrant County side of the metroplex, I have determined that Young Musicians far superior to their counterparts and is worth your time and money. Shops like this don't exist like they once did. Keep this place alive, y'all.

New owners, but still good people. The experience was definitely different, but we will come again.read more
