My husband and I almost skipped the Biltmore because we thought maybe too touristy, but that would…read morehave been a huge mistake because it ended up being one of my favorite stops in Asheville. I even found myself wishing we stayed at the Biltmore Inn so we could wake up and enjoy the beauty everyday in Asheville. We visited during Luminere, which is a new attraction where the Biltmore estate and gardens basically light up after 9pm. We got there a few hours earlier to enjoy the grounds, do some wine tasting (lines too long so just purchased some wine instead) and take in a beautiful sunset. It really is the most gorgeous place to watch a sunset. Luminere began with a light show that shared the history of the Biltmore Estate which i found pretty interesting. Then we walked thru the gardens, which was all lit up similar to what i've experienced at many botanical gardens during the holidays. It was a gorgeous night, a beautiful show and a great way to get our steps in. I think visiting the Biltmore any time of day would be special, but this was an extra fun way to see it!

Being a history and architectural enthusiast, along with being obsessed with this time period, it was amazing to walk through every room and envision what it was like during the time they lived there and marvel at the construction and invention. I highly suggest touring it if you haven't. NOTE: I hear Christmas is spectacular there!

Tucked away in a quaint old coach house, Colonial Florist is an adorable, local flower shop. The…read morestore itself is overflowing with flowers, flower paraphernalia (pots, vases, ribbons), and cheery, helpful salespeople. Colonial has always helped out when we've needed flowers for family events - even on very short notice (That's right - if you live in the Waynesville area and have received flowers from me, they may have been last-minute. My secret is safe with Colonial!). As a bonus, Colonial is home to a couple friendly animals. Papa B. met a cat on one of his visits, and later that weekend, I was greeted by a German Shepard puppy. Flowers and puppies? It doesn't get much better than that!

I am extremely disappointed with the order I placed on 4-16-2. Apparently, I was wrong because what was delivered was a bouquet of lilies with tulips. I call and spoke to Mr. Jack and his response to my dissatisfaction was... "I did you a favor by adding the lilies plus I didn't charge you for the lilies" I did not ask him to add any other flower to MY ORDER and I was quite thrilled in his assurance that my requested bouquet could be filled. Sadly, he ruined my birthday gift to my dear friend. I will never give my business to Colonial Floral & gifts ever again nor will I recommend them to anyone. Mr. Jack did offer to go pick up the arrangement that was delivered to my friend informing me that -he would be "happy to go pick up the bouquet" So, that's how CF&G do business. Such a shame!

We found that both carry the same items, however, so if you've been to one you might not need to hit the other one. But since I've been to both I thought I'd write a bit here, too. It may be bias since the other location was the one I was first acquainted with but I found the other space a bit more comfortable and charming. Not to say there's anything wrong with this one. I just love the more rustic, wood decor of the other. But this location still has so many delicious honey varietals to choose from! They have their own locally sourced honey including Sourwood and Wildflower, and some sourced varieties from out of state, including Tupelo from Florida and the Chicory and Meadowfoam from the Pacific NW. They even carry Lehua from Hawaii and Fireweed from Alaska! There's also infused flavors like coffee, ghost pepper, chai, lavender, vanilla bean, and more. And the best part? You can try them all! They also have some really cute bee themed housewares, plus skin care, candles, and other products made from beeswax. Perfect for gifting or hoarding for yourself. Not that I'd know anything about that.... ;)
