We have been banking at Heritage for about 3 years and we love it. The staff has been very helpful and the only problem we've had is that we can't get paper delivery stopped for one of our son's s accounts. We have done international wire transfers and CD's and savings accounts and all has gone well. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. Such a joke. My husband and I wanted to open a joint account together (we already have separate checking accounts set up through heritage). They said they could not do it because we 1. Needed an appointment. 2. "It takes AT LEAST a half hour, it was 3:30 and they close at 4". 3. They needed our actual marriage certificate to open a joint account even though my social security card and driver's license have my married name on them. The teller acted as if we were the biggest inconvenience to ever walk into that bank. My checking account and my husband's checking accounts are now closed due to this HORRIBLE experience. If you want to bank in Willmar go to Lake Region Bank. They were more than helpful and stayed after hours to open up a joint account AND individual accounts for my husband and I. If I could move our mortgage from heritage to Lake Region Bank I would! read more

Please don't bank here! Place your money where people care! This used to be an awesome local bank and in the last two years it's fallen out of grace with every customer of theirs I know. The new "upgraded" banking site is a joke! I am moving my business (personal + business + mortgages) away from here. I will be done with them by the end of 2021. read more

My husband and I had checks we needed to cash written to us from customers of Heritage, so we decided to go to their local branch in our new city, Willmar, MN. This was on a Friday at about 2:15. We told the teller we had checks to cash, we also asked if we could open a new account with them and how long it would take, she said it would take about 30 minutes, but that their was NOBODY in the bank who could do that for us, we would have to come back another day and try. So we said we'll just cash these checks then, after she's had my id and entered all the data, she then tells me it will be a $5 fee...for each check....since we don't have an account with them, for checks written from Heritage Bank. Haha, what a joke, we won't be opening our new joint account at Heritage Bank in Willmar. read more

They have a great variety of services available, friendly staff, technologically advanced options.

Heritage has incorrectly issued a "late payment" marker on my financial records for my home mortgage. These issues are all related to the payment book issue that took nearly 5 months to send to me.I asked for a payment book to be sent out so that we could see the official amount that was required to be paid. I never received an official document telling me what the total was to be paid. There was a monthly payment increase of over $1000 per month on my mortgage payment in July of 2019 when I passed the 1 year mark since the purchase date - due to a tax increase that Heritage Bank did not calculate when they put together my initial mortgage payment. This figure was not communicated to me. I received one email from the city of Detroit that said that the tax bill had increased $700, not that my own payment would go up by a different and larger figure. I asked for a new payment book so that I could calculate the correct payment and impact that my usual payment overages would incur. I did not receive a firm communication outlining what I was supposed to pay for nearly 5 months - the first month on that is on my payment book is December of 2019. The bank claims that they sent notice, but I did not receive any notice or phone call about this subject. I did call in and ask to receive a firm bill/invoice/payment book that listed what my new payment was and it took 5 months to arrive. In the meantime, I tried to overpay my old payment by $700 to account for the change. I find these actions to be completely out of line - I have overpaid the amount owed on nearly every month for which I had a clear communication from Heritage bank articulating what the payment amount actually was. I think this issue was incompetence by Heritage in not calculating the impact of the tax update after the house was sold and then not updating my preferred payment option (payment book) so that I had visibility to what my actual payment was supposed to be. read more

I live in Georgia and dealing with a small bank in another state that does not answer the phone or respond to emails is very frusrating. I originally went with this bank because of the high interest rate, now the interest rate is not very attractive. read more
