03/0/2024 Driving past Heritage Auctions many times and now seeing the huge banner for Planet Hollywood movie items on display. I took a chance to see if just anyone could come in. Hopefully everyone who wants to bid on these items, the auction is still going on until March 24th. Currently held in Dallas but I am sure you could still bid over the phone or something. I don't remember the very nice lady who walked me through and talked to me about each item on display. It was like walking through a museum seeing items you would not ever see again. I want to see if those two motorcycles actually work so I could take it for a test ride. Rolling down the street as Judge Dredd or Butch on motorcycle called Grace would be priceless. Thank you for the hospitality and your time allowing me and probably a few others to come look at everything on display. Wish I had space to store and display some of these items to bid on. read more

This is a truly horrible business. They will consignment items KNOWING that the consignee will receive pennies. Very dishonest by using OMOMISSION as the vehicle for their dishonesty. By omomitting details such as informing someone that their is not much hype around their items or allowing the consignee ti have high expectations and not interfering with the expectations. The buyers premium is all that mmatters to specialist who do this for a paycheck. This is a seriously messed up business- 90% of lots up for auction would perform better on eBay. read more

Heartbroken. I bid for an item that I didn't initially intend to bid on, but it was something I had my eye on in the past, and the listing which came up had the full correct name of what I wanted, the photos looked good, and due to the speed of the bidding I glanced through the description but didn't get the chance to pore over every word in the description. The sculpture arrived at my house with an entire leg broken off. Not chipped, not cracked, the entire leg is detached from the body. And they won't refund me as there was a single line at the bottom of the description stating "Right leg broken at top". Given that the pictures showed an intact sculpture with no zooming in on the broken part or to show that entire leg was completely detached from the body, isn't this false advertising? (They didn't hesitate to zoom in with photos on other areas!) Also, "Right leg broken on top" doesn't sufficiently describe what is wrong with it. It could be a chip, or a crack? It certainly feels like they intentionally glazed over it hoping no one would notice and bid as per normal on it. An extremely upset as I only bid that amount thinking that it was an intact sculpture. Definitely the last time I'm ever giving this company any business and I would advise others to be extremely careful when dealing with them. read more

Full disclosure, I wasn't able to sell anything as my items weren't valuable enough. So I can't speak to the auction process. BUT, I CAN speak to the process of having items appraised and I walked away very impressed. I brought in some old jewelry from my family that was just lying around. Ana was there and she gave me lots of her time carefully appraising each item, and letting me know how much they would be worth. She was extremely knowledgable and I trusted her professionality very much. She never pressured me or anything to sell, so I didn't feel like she was trying to swindle me. Just giving me an honest assessment of their value. They don't offer to auction anything less than $5,000, so just know that going in. But I had a great time anyways! I loved learning about my items, even if they weren't worth that much! read more

For those not in the know, these guys have had a history of market manipulation from the day they opened their doors. Not only do they have a substantial fee for buyers (20%), but they take a further 5% of the sale price from the sellers. This would sink them if it weren't for the fact that they are purposely creating speculative bubbles on items and benefiting from investors who end up with an item that's worth less than even the fee they paid for it. If you are purchase from these guys you are not only perpetuating their scam, but there's a good chance you'll find yourself a victim as well. read more

A truly professional organization...I've purchase many collectibles from their Auctions and I'll continue to do so...I've been considering to sell some of my assets thru them as well... The staff was friendly and attentive and I really enjoyed the Private Preview of the Animation Auction though i didn't win any of the items over the weekend... Jim the Director was very friendly and knowledgeable I really enjoyed talking to him...this was the first time I was able to get out to their office in Beverly Hills and I'll try again in the future! They have gone downhill in the last 2 years or so in their customer service, they used to ship my items the same day I pay or within 2 days Max, but now I get my check cleared and wait 2 weeks before they ship my items, even when I tried to do a wire transfer to speed up the process, they still hold on shipping for at least a week or more before they ship my items. I contacted them many times before via E-mail and get no reply or a very late reply after they ship it saying we just shipped it or if I reach them by phone they tell me the same answer as every time " we will ship it within a week". I buy many items for trade shows from them and many times they would arrive after the show is over, now I'm thinking to stop doing business with them altogether and not stress over it and spend my money somewhere else read more

My son and I went in with 5 boxes of comics, and were told that they were worth nothing. ("they're just comics") We were also told that the professional we had gone to before who graded a #1 Wolverine was way off on his assessment. Ok, on the surface, that's his opinion-and that's fair enough. However, he went out of his way to be rude and dismissive, and frankly, ignorant in implying that post 70's comics were basically worthless. "Well they're not 1940" he said Yeah, no kidding grumpy, but that doesn't mean they have no value. My son who was hopeful about his collection, was as bummed by this "experts" attitude, as he was his evaluation. Maybe the comics are not worth what we hoped for (maybe they never are) but that's no excuse for rudeness. Although I didn't sell my collection through Heritage I was very impressed with the way Chad S. Reingold, Cataloguer - Rare Books, handled my inquiry. I sent in the description of my collection with pictures and Mr. Reingold was quite prompt with a detailed response explaining why my particular collection wasn't quite right for their auction. He also directed me to a great valuation tool that would help point me in the right direction. Quick, efficient, honest and neither of us wasted any time unnecessarily. I consigned several Japanese Samurai swords to Heritage Auctions.....swords I have had for decades, laying around, gathering dust. I met with Desiree Pakravan at their BH office....and the procedure was smooth and pleasant. I found the commission they charged to be very fair, especially as there were no extra add-ons for shipping, photographing, etc. I guess you can say you always want "more" for what you sell....but I was VERY pleased with the prices I received, and the ease of listing, selling, etc. I will definitely use Heritage in the future with any other items I may have, so long as they fit their requirements. As Heritage does have minimums, they attract a clientele that knows what they are looking for.....Thanks Heritage for helping to clear out some stuff...more to come! read more

SIMPLY TERRIBLE ALL THE WAY AROUND! After I wrote my first review about how inept they were and not at all forthcoming or apologetic, I was contacted by the woman who originally took care of me with an apology. She promised my item would be immediately put up for Auction. They offered to relinquish their commission and give me the full amount it sold for. That was December and my item went up for auction in February. I was finally paid in March and was SHOCKED! This was a $1300 Judith Leiber snakeskin belt in white with gold buckle encrusted with crystals that I purchased at Neiman Marcus. They had told me it would sell for $150 - $200. They sold the belt for $28 and KEPT THEIR COMMISSION, paying me $21. UNBELIEVABLE! I must warn everyone to NEVER TRUST HERITAGE with anything and to AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE! read more

Very impersonal experience consigning 15 vintage posters to this auction house. 10 Posters were consigned to regular Sunday auction and they failed to bring more than 1/3 of their market wholesale value. Signature auction is a joke. My 5 posters brought a fraction of their market value. 1 poster did not sell because they over consigned the auction with worthless posters that had no place in a signature auction. Bottom line: Heritage auction only cares how much commission they pocket selling as many posters as they can not how much each poster brings in. The consigner's good faith is not a concern for these people. You will lose money if you consign with these used-car sales people. read more

I attended a live auction and bid on a very expensive handbag. There were pictures of the bag in the catalog and on the site. The bag they tried to deliver to me was not the bag that was shown on the picture. The damages on the actual bag were way more than the ones in the picture. One side of the bag had completely collapsed and at $7500 I think they should put the correct picture up. I am still waiting to hear from herritage after leaving multiple messages for them. I have bought many items quite often from Heritage Auction in the past couple years. I have found some of their departments in general are pretty good such as coins or currency since most of their items are certify (even though I did bought couple fake raw coins from them). However, their Asian art and jewelry auction are not that good. They never foreclose the true condition of some of items in jewelry and art. Some time it just one simple sentence or only one photo to show the item. Most importantly they always don't tell the buyer if the item is nature color or enhance color such as jade or coral. On September 24 Internet Jewelry Auction #171739 I won two items and I sent the payment to HA right away as I usually do. Couple days later Jill Burgum senior direction of jewelry from HA sent me an email telling me that HA will cancel the auction result due to some bids were not be able to post. HA always remind bidder (buyers) that a bid is a contract and is binding by law. How come HA can cancel the auction after it ends? HA did not play by the rule created by them if the result is not in their favored. LOL. I posted this review just want buyers beware of this. After this instance I don't think I will buy form HA again or at least I will reduce buying. My review is for the Heritage in Dallas, TX not for this CA office. I never deal with this CA office. I am revising the review I left below inasmuch as after writing the review, I was contacted by Heritage Auctions and they refunded the amount I paid to repair the watch. They also stated that they were reviewing their return policy in order to avoid such issues in the future. Do not trust the descriptions of the merchandise provided by Heritage Auctions. I bought a gold watch that was described as in working order. When the watch came, it was not working. I called Heritage Auctions and they said that although they had (purportedly) inspected the watch and described it as being in working order, the watch was sold as is so it was my problem and they would not take it back and would not repair it. I had to pay over $200 to fix the watch that had been described as in working order. I suggested they refund the repair costs out of their 25% buyers premium however they refused. They offered my $100 credit towards my next purchase. Needless to say, there will not be a next purchase. I paid the buyers premium to do business through what I believed was a reputable auction house. I was clearly wrong: their are neither reputable nor accurate in their descriptions. read more

As a longtime customer, things seem to keep getting worse. After raising their buyer's premium, they then added a %2.5 fee for credit cards and now have discontinued Paypal. Not exactly customer friendly. But very profit friendly for them. read more

I had an unpleasant experience with Heritage that I felt was important to share with the community at large, especially fellow numismatic collectors. I acquired an Ancient coin at Auction which upon receipt thereof I found the texture and coloring to be questionable. In addition numerous other experts upon looking at said coin raised questions regarding the authenticity of said coin. This happens, and at first Heritage was very accommodating and when I brought my concerns to them they agreed to send the coin out for authentication. I had originally wanted to send it to David Sear, a renowned expert, however Heritage insisted on sending it to NGC. I delivered the coin to Heritage and they assured me NGC would be ideal and that they could answer any questions regarding authenticity. I agreed and awaited a response. I later learned that NGC clearly states on their website that they do not authenticate ancient coins. I found this troubling and since authenticity was at issue, NGC should not have been the source to assuage my concerns. NGC encapsulated the coin and sent it back to Heritage without any notes or details. NGC states they will not encapsulate any coins unless they feel they are authentic, so in a round about way they were claiming the coin was authentic. I contacted Heritage to inquire further and found that they were more interested in acquiring an undisclosed fee of $46 for this alleged service from NGC. I had never wanted the coin encapsulated, nor was this fee disclosed to me upfront. If they had disclosed this fee, I would have instead had Sear authenticate the coin. When I was rebuffed by Heritage regarding this NGC service and this undisclosed fee I dispatched an e-mail to the executives at Heritage detailing my issues. I received a phone call from Cristiano Bierrenbach, one of their top executives. He seemed upset and added fuel to the fire by asking me if I expected people to work for free. A service had been provided and I owed Heritage for said service. Since the sole purpose of my initial issue was authentication and NGC proclaims they cannot authenticate I failed to see what service had been provided nor had this fee been disclosed upfront. The call went badly, and I was totally put off from dealing with Heritage. In the end Cristiano did agree to issue a refund for the initial coin purchase. I accepted this, but a bad taste was left in my mouth. Later, Cristiano called back and apologized for his demeanor and I accepted his apology. My only caveat here is that Heritage should have went above and beyond and resolved this matter in a way that allowed me to keep the coin I had initially purchased in the first place. I find this whole event tragic, more so because for a small price Heritage could have come out ahead and made this a poster event for exemplary service. read more

I had extensive documented research on the item from high end professionals stating the authenticity of rhe item. Never received any response when told them this. Terrible customer service. I took in a gold mesh purse to sell at their Beverly Hills location. The man took it and allegedly tested it to see if it was really gold. He returned to say that it wasn't gold and kept saying who told you this was gold? who? He tried to humiliate me and told me he'd give me a few hundred dollars for it for resale. I then took it to a reputable jeweler who said yes, it was gold and gave me several thousand dollars for it just for the gold weight. Heritage Auction Galleries is not trustworthy. Again, know your dealer before you commit. This is an acution house and I have heard they have a wonderful reputation for their auctions. read more
