They even have a salt for making tofu taste like scrambled eggs! Along with the amazing salt selection, they also have more craft chocolates than I have ever seen in one place before, including a selection of truffles that even features vegan options! If salt or chocolate aren't your thing, then enjoy a whole section of bitters and mixers that are a home mixologists dream. All in all, this is the sort of store that you head to whenever you need a gift because you'll be able to find something here for everyone. The service is always warm, welcoming, and friendly with fresh samples of popcorn featuring their famous truffle salt available any time I've visited. I cannot recommend you pop by for a visit strongly enough.

The store was full of cute and unique items, and it had such a fun, lively atmosphere. One thing that immediately stood out was how happy the employees seemed. They were singing, chatting, and genuinely looked like they enjoyed working there, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I also loved that they had four different popcorn flavors available to sample. They were all so unique and made it hard to pick a favorite. The chocolate selection was even more impressive, they had a huge variety of chocolate bars from both local and international makers, and I honestly had no idea what to choose. Thankfully, one of the staff members was more than happy to help and recommended the cinnamon chipotle chocolate bar, which ended up being such a fun and interesting combination. My favorite discovery, though, was the little chocolates by the checkout counter. They were almost too cute to eat! I picked up the raspberry chocolate, and I have to say it was one of the most unique and delicious pieces of chocolate I've ever had. Even if you don't plan on buying anything, I'd still recommend stopping in. It's such a fun store to browse, and I loved every minute of being there.

I asked her about what I was looking for and she immediately brought me to it (they had two to choose from). She explained the differences to me then left me to decide and explore. I appreciated that she was so helpful but also not pushy or hovering after she answered my question. I explored the rest of the store and even grabbed another tea to try. The store has a lot of teas and spices in various sizes. It was well organized and stocked. They all had various tea and spice related items. When I checked out she told me that if I bring the container back they will refill with any tea and take $3 off the purchase which I thought was great! She was bright and friendly and offered to help me create a new mix when I mentioned looking for a dupe of a discontinued brand. I definitely recommend if you're a tea lover.

Unlike, say, a shop that sells fragrances, where your senses are assaulted when you walk in, Penzey's keeps their samples in airtight glass containers, so you can browse with your eyes, and then open individual jars to see how they smell. Products are well labeled, and wandering around is always a pleasure. When we inquired about one item that we had not spotted, one of the associates immediately came out from behind the central checkout counter to escort us to the desired item. Whether it's for everyday items you want in your kitchen, or an unexpected impulse purchase, Penzey's is always a fun stop.

The shop is maintained beautifully, and my group was greeted warmly by Catherine who was working the store during my visit. She gave my group a thorough explanation of all the specialty salts available, and explained the differences in cultivation & flavor profiles of fleur de sel, sel gris, flake, smoked, and shio salts just to name a few. I loved trying the chocolate salt! We also learned about all the different origins and makers of the chocolates available as well. Catherine was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to detail, she made the shopping experience feel fun and comfortable. We ended up purchasing the black truffle salt, sel gris, hana flake salt, the meadow's own backyard blackberry patch & strawberry dark chocolate bars, a few other dark chocolate bars, some of the delectable small individual chocolates at the counter - and we couldn't resist also buying the cutest tiny fairy star salt spoon, too. Amazing experience, and everything was so delicious - I would definitely visit again!

Their wine bar is fantastic, and good-priced, and it was fun to watch the last of the World Cup here today. If you're looking for something special or hard to find, this is the place, much like the old Pastaworks was on Hawthorne. They really shine on their produce, pasta and fresh meats here, and there's always something new, but I love that you can count on the bakery for your focaccia and other fresh breads. Cheese case is like Rue Cler, Paris--so much selection and they will tell you about each one of them. Don't be afraid to just ask a lot of questions. I wish that they did some little items in the bakery, one of my fondest memories from childhood was going to Pastaworks with my dad and getting a breadstick, probably eating it before we even paid (we did), as we strolled around, and where's the peanut sauce for pasta, another favorite of the old days, yup, I'm old. Can't say enough good things about this place, it can add up though as others have mentioned, but, if you keep to a list or just slow the roll on the impulse buy, it's actually reasonable and you know you're getting what you're paying for. I've never regretted a purchase here or thought it unfair. I mean, it says Fine Foods right there in the name...:) Thank you for the amazing ingredients for dinner tonight, cheers!
