The Hepatitis C Council of South Australia is now Hepatitis SA and covers all forms of Hepatitis not just Hep C. This is a positive thing because due to limited funding and government interest the whole area of education surrounding this most difficult disease has grown quite small, similar with HIV/AIDS; to the extent that even someone as great a role model as the Prime Minister of our country (Julia Gillard at the moment) does not even bother to mention World AIDS Day or wear a ribbon for it, yet there was a time not so long ago when all politicians would make it their business to promote things such as safer sex education and community education programs concerning sexually transmitted infections. Sadly it is left to underfunded community organisations these days.
The education services for people with Hep are very important; showing them how to keep safe from other infections, to not infect their partners, family and friends. Treatment options and alternative therapies that contribute to the overall wellness of people.
