The black lady with glasses in the office is so rude and racist and she doesn't even do her job…read moreright. She is rude even to army vets and only when they're Hispanic. She made us purposely wait and made us miss lunch when that was the whole point of going and she was just talking to a teacher of non school related things and when I reminded her she kept being rude and yelling at me and all the Hispanic people she made us wait and didn't attend us and then when she does she has the biggest attitude and complains about "people" right infront of us. She was telling the Hispanic army vet that she wanted to see other forms of id. I heard him even confused. Please do something or we will all take our students out. This black office lady is being racist and targeting Hispanics. She told my daughter that she was a liar and that she doesn't know how to open a door. and she kept calling people and my family memebers that are emergency contacts to my daughter. And since I'm Hispanic but I speak English fluently she refused to help and asked for a translator and then she made me wait and didn't do anything but yap with the teachers and kept telling me I'm wrong and I'm not on MY daughter's emergency contact and she didnt even want to check or make sure.. her and the other black teacher kept calling me a liar until this nice nurse lady told them grab the book and check and they still kept telling me no and kept telling me im not a contact or anybody. and saying I'm not in there until the nurse kept telling them over and over that I am and she recognizes me cause I visit all the time. They are always rude and give the most attitude I don't think they are fit for this job they make it so difficult and they only make it difficult for us Hispanics. like another staff does not have to tell you someone is the parent because you wanted to be racist and rude and didnt even want to check.. she even grabbed my id and everything so i dont know why the black office lady with glasses did all that... I didn't want to think that but all the times I go I notice the same. She is so racist and rude. She sees a Hispanic person and before we talk she asks if we speak English she also looks at us with the most nastiest look like we did something when all we are doing is waiting for our kids. Please do something or I will report this again and again. She is no principal or higher up it's the lady that opens the office doors and calls our kids out of class and let's us visit but when Hispanic people try like I said she makes it impossible and ignored you. She made us miss our lunch when we got there early but she kept ignoring me and the Hispanic army vet telling him to show other form of id when he did she is just being racist. I saw it with my own eyes. To other black black parents she was nice to them and even let them skip us this is really inexcusable do something or I will record and post it online for everyone to see I'm really not trying to do that but it's been going on so long and you all don't have reviews on your school website what is that about like everything is blocked like you all know this school is so bad and y'all won't let us leave a review. I will never recommend this school to anyone one of the worst schools ever. My daughter got hit and chocked by another students and the staff didn't want to BELIVE her and refused to show us video evidence of it happening please fix this or I will do something myself. dont bring your kids if you are another race other than black or white because these staff members are racist.

Based on my experience as a parent with three kids here, this is a great school…read more - The facility is nice. It's big and clean. - It appears to be in a safe place. It sits far back from the road and forms a campus with the adjoining middle school. - With your eldest at the middle school, it's convenient having all three kids on the same campus. - The leadership (front office, Principal, etc.) have been very good, and are engaged, caring people. - There is a very active PTO here as well. Most of us don't have a choice about public elementary schools, but if you're shopping for a home within the Sunset Elem. district, I can recommend this school to you without reservation.

The bathrooms are complete garbage, I threw up as soon as I entered. The male P.E. coach was CAUGHT in the (GIRLS) bathroom. This is NO safe place for ANY child of ANY age.

I went to withdraw my son from this school to attend Home School. I was buzzed in withoit asking…read moreany questions (that was my first red flag). Then I enter red the main office where 4 adults were having a conversatio. I said hi and was greeted. However, the older lady sitting at the desk had her back to me the whole time. It was obvious she was the main office front person. Another lady finally asked what I needed and then pointed to this older lady and said she was the one who needed to help me. After the other lady then kinda nudged her to say hey this lady need help. She acted like she had no clue what was happening so I repeated why I was there. She handed me a paper told me to go somewhere else and then spun around and started chatting again. I left this school CONFIDENT I did the right thing for my child. If that is how the main office personnel respond to people entering, I know my child would have also received mediocre education. Every person is a reflection of your environmen. If she didn't even wanna greet or hep me, pretty sure that same attiti runs within the school. Would take that as a sign to not choose this school for your child's education!

The school was good overall but the fact that they don't allow lockers anymore is just blast for…read moreme. Sure people are smoking or vaping but just do a few unexpected locker checks. The cafeteria is good and also the classrooms. One problem I'm noticing is that they treat you like your in the 6th grade when your in the 7th grade. Plus on 2023-2024 they had a recess schedule for all grades. Normally middle schools should normally not have recess at all because that's what the state of Tennessee says. But overall besides the problems I recommend going here. Watch out for really mean kids though.

I got a call from the school one day because my son was sick and they needed me to come and get him. So I put on my shoes and headed toward to the school. 2.9 miles total I lived from the school. So I arrived at the school and as I was walking in to the school the Assistant Principle was walking out of the front doors. She stopped me and asked me if I had seen a little boy, I replies No and continued into the school. I looked back and saw her and another woman jogging down toward the road. I go in to the office and tell them I am here to pick up my son. They call his teacher and she said she sent him to the office, he should be in there. Well he was not. So I check the bathrooms right down the hall from the office and he was not there either. Then the light bulb went on in my head and my stomach dropped! Oh My Goodness, that way my son the assistant principle was looking for! So I immediately got in my car and headed back towards my house. NOW, this school is on a main road with no side walks, 45 mph speed zone, and semi trucks galore! I'm praying that my baby is OK. As I turn off of the major road on to another major road I see three cars stopped on the side of the road and the people standing out of their cars all looking down! My heart sank, panic sunk in, and tears started flowing. I thought the worse, please don't let my baby be hurt! I jumped out of my car and ran over to them. Thank God! My son was standing there with these complete strangers, the assistant principle, and another teacher. Apparently, my sons teacher told him that he had to go home because he was sick, my 5 year old son took him literally, got his backpack, and walked out of the doors, and started walking home. A passerby called the school to inform them that they saw a student walking down the road with a backpack on, that is how they knew they were missing a kid! A different stranger was pumping gas at the gas station adjacent from the turn he made on to the other major road and as he drove over to my son and stopped him and called the police. Thank god this was not some creepy child molester or something! Anyhow, my 5 year old son walked .25 miles on a busy roadway with no sidewalk until he was stopped by a stranger. The stranger told me he called the cops and the assistant principle said " I don't think there is a need for that" REALLY???? And then she had the audacity to look at my son and say " You know you are not suppose to do that, you could have gotten yourself hurt" HOLD UP..... Don't tell MY child he was in the wrong for going home like his teacher told him to. He was 5 and his first year in school and he did exactly what he was told. He was not told to go to the office ( in which he shouldn't be allowed to go alone to anyways) he was told to go home. The cops came we filled out a report. The man who stopped my son from walking further told me he would testify for me if I chose to sue the "h**l out of them" but I didn't pursue it. I did however go off on them for the negligence but never filed anything against them. I was told they have put in a buddy system since that incident happened and I believe that they still till this day use the buddy system. I am so thankful my son was not hurt and I am glad it taught those teachers something too. So, needless to say, I pulled my son out of that school when the year was over and never returned!
