NOV 30, 2018 - Don't know why this was taken down Yelp! but I am reposting:…read more Finally an audition yesterday (been a bit quiet lol) and as always, warm-up before going in with 10 counts of happy, ten counts of sad etc. The energy and electricity I could feel in my body radiating to my arms before I went in was amazing. I went in with that energy and was so present about what I was feeling and how it changed as the audition went on. I did what was expected of me, what I have been taught: the job was the audition and I showed up for that job in a way that I know I don't always...and it made a huge difference. Whether I get the part or not, it doesn't matter. It was a chance to have a practical application of the theories from MDS. I was prepared and did what I was trained to do; the outcome is irrelevant. Thank you Michael for your guidance, wisdom and techniques. And thank you to my classmates who through their energy and support, help me to find and be the actor I want to be. Much love! Aug 8 - So follow up...I didn't get the part but as I said, no problem as the audition was the job and I nailed it. However, they called me back for another part and doing the exact same technique, I booked it!!!! Michael, I can't thank you enough. Your support, encouragement and techniques have helped me to be more confident in my auditions and it's paying off :-)

Oh boy. This will be a long one. I attended Langley Fine…read moreArts School for six years (Grades 1-6). As such, this will not concern the high school experience, but rather, my experience going there as a young child. First off, the education itself is great. I did not have any issues with the ways core subjects were taught. The arts program is great for people that have an interest in the arts, but it mainly distracted people that had ambitions outside of the arts. There was definitely a pressure to pressure one of the fine arts, and they were not very modern about it. No modern dances, songs, or art mediums to be seen. It's a split issue, and is something that any arts school would have to deal with. Technology is almost absent apart from photography. Computers/laptops are used very rarely, and strictly for research purposes. I never learned how to type properly as a result. The school itself is pretty fine, no main issues with the building except for the portables, which have no heat or a/c. The school has an odd tendency to catch fire, but that isn't really the fault of the people who built it. Overall perfectly fine building. The teachers were a mixed bag, some great, some fine, some downright toxic. I did not have many issues with teachers myself, but many did. The general attitude of the school is accepting of lgbtq, disapproving of technology, and very focus on rewarding those that are naturally gifted. The kids and parents this school attracts are not always the most in touch. The parents gossiped about their kids' friends like a bunch of 16 year old girls. It was not very to have grown adults talk about me behind my back. However it's worth noting that my experience might be worse than average due to the fact that my grade was notoriously rowdy and snarky (if you know, you know). Last thing that I want to mention is that this school does not treat those with autism and/or ADHD very well. Fidgets are very frowned upon, support for kids that need it is practically non existent, and certain teachers made habits out of publicly shaming neurodivergent students. My brother, who is autistic, had a miserable experience there. In summary, this school is great for "Gifted" students. If you aren't gifted, you will probably have an average or negative experience.

It's a good school for arts from Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, Music, Photography, to Writing majors…read more You have 4 majors (Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, and Music) when you're kindergarten to 7th grade. For 8th grade you have to choose two majors from those 4 categories too. For 9th and 10th grade you choose one major from those 4 categories as well. As you reach 11th grade you have to choose one major from (Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, Music or Photography). When you are 12th grade you can choose one major out of the 6 majors. We have two electives starting from 8th grade and there's so many to choose from. Ceramics, fabric & fibre, multimedia, stagecraft, musical theatre, vocal studies, photography, filming, stretch & strength, weight training, and many more. I've been to LFAS for 5 years and graduated from Visual Arts major and got an award at my grad show/gala night. This school prepare you well for universities. My first year in art university was a lot easier than half if not most of my peers. If you are in Visual Arts, you have AP art too and it's great. We learn art history, techniques, do critiques, practice interviews for portfolio day, studio time, and more. Great school! They have some amazing teachers but a few more judgmental and narrow minded one but in general it's a good school.
