Hennesy's fish bar café is a proper traditional style fish and chips restaurant, as it dates back to 75years ago. Located close to the Ely cathedral in the market square makes it popular with tourists. This restaurant has also taken food to a different level apart from offering traditional service to customers.
They serve the traditional English breakfast of two bacon, sausage, egg, mushroom and tomatoes, or you could create your own breakfast from their list of ingredients. They even offer the healthy option of grilling instead of frying.
I was there on a bright summer afternoon, so breakfast was not an option or maybe, you never know. Anyway, I ordered the fish and chips and one of their soft drinks at the counter. It was a little warm inside so the staff led me to their courtyard, the shade provided by the canopy was just refreshing.
My drink arrived quickly shortly, following it was my fish and chip. Eating the fish & chips was sheer bliss as I savoured it to the very last crumb. The cod was very fresh, the whiteness of its flesh was all the evidence I needed and the chip was just the right texture.
The staffs were very helpful and polite and I had a good conversation with one of them. It was great to have a fresh cod for a change and the weather also contributed to the good experience. read more
