I can't even begin to explain how gorgeous this park/trail is. Me and my friends were heading to…read moreNiagara for the weekend, and wanted to start off the day with a physical activity. I found this place after doing a little bit of research, and I was not disappointed. The trail is a bit bumpy, unpaved, and difficult to go through. I personally love good trails and hikes, so it doesn't bother me. But i'll recommend wearing good running shoes with strong grip. As you're going through the trail, take it slow and easy so you don't slip on any unstable wood or rocks. You first go down a large staircase from the area I went through, then a 15 minute path. Once we reached the water, I was in awe. The water is bright blue, clean, the trees are as green as they can get, and the breeze is beautiful. The wind was blowing, which was refreshing after a sweaty trail walk. The views were unbelievable, including falls further away. I couldn't even believe it was in the Niagara area. If you're looking for a short trail and stunning views that transport you out of the city, this is the place to visit!! I will definitely be back and try different pathways :)

This is a lovely hike early in the day. Tons of stairs, you have to go up them on the way back…read more The path is fairly well marked, but has plenty of areas with a drop off so pay attention. I'm pretty familiar with this hike and enjoy it. Easy parking nearby.

Let's make this clear: This Disc Golf Course rocks!…read more It's huge. Quite a drive North of Buffalo, Joseph Davis has a 27 hole Disc Golf course. Myself and a few friends went to check it out and were very pleasantly surprised. Several of the courses are short, but ideally technical. Not too many trees, the hazards are legit, and the course is well maintained: the pads were new and the greens were mowed down. And it wasn't busy! That was fantastic! The people that we did see were friendly and moved along quickly. One local guy did bring his dog, which I hate, but the dog was a pit bull and couldn't be less interested in chasing discs, but instead was totally loving on us while we let the guy play through. That was alright. Our group was really into chatting, so we totally messed up the order of holes and got turned around, but that's on us. If we had actually been paying attention, the course is fairly well marked, even if the signs are dated and the tree hazards have grown out of what they originally once were. There are no water hazards, but a few marshy drainage ditches. Overall, the course itself is very dry unlike many in Buffalo, because it's just outside Lewiston and has some elevation to let all that rain run off. Big win over places like Beaver and Ellicot which stay soggy for days following a rain. This is a great place for disc golf--just really wonderful! That being said, if you came here for anything else, you might be disappointed. There's no charge to get in, and that lack of revenue shows in the degradation of the buildings, the age of the playgrounds, and the lack of up to date picnic areas. It's basically a playground desert. It seems like all the money this park gets from the State goes strictly to lawn maintenance and that's it. There is one fairly new playground, but for the size of the park, it's kind of sad. But for disc golf? It's absolutely fantastic!

Today the temps were warm in the mid to high 20s, and the windchill was 10 degrees less - it doesn't bother us! This time when we arrived, we saw a band of teens playing hockey on the ice! They were doing quite well too! Quite a few people were hiking in and out, and there were several cars in the lots. Did not see anyone at the new children's playground. We'll be back!

Four Mile Creek State Park, New York I found this campground…read moreon Https://parks.ny,gov as I was planning a trip, a lifelong goal, to see Niagara Falls. I chose Four Mile Creek State Park for its proximity to the Falls, and nearby attractions like Fort Niagara, an Aquarium, the Niagara Power Vista, and the Underground Railroad Heritage Center, to name a few. This camp offers a shuttle service to these places, no need to worry about parking! I was welcomed by a cheerful office staff and given a map for the Niagara Falls State Park. I went to my site 13, it was nicely shaded and I had access to 30amp service and water a few sites away. The bathrooms & showers were clean and had access to washer/dryer. I met lots of nice people and the weather was great. (6/1 to 6/8) Every member of staff I encountered was friendly and accommodating. Shout out to maintenance staff, Mike, the shuttle driver and Tim, manning the Camp Store. In fact, Tim even circulates the campground every night after the store is closed with ice & firewood. I visited the Falls, walking all over the American side then walked across the bridge to Canada for lunch observing the Canadian side of the Falls. But my favorite thing about this whole journey was the sunsets on Lake Ontario. On clear nights, the city of Toronto is visible. Every night campers would drift down to the field on the lake to watch the sunset. It was the most mesmerizing thing, many different people connecting with this beautiful world.

We love this campground and our tent site! We were near the bathrooms, within sight of the…read moreplayground and could see the water. The little beach area was only about a 3 minute walk. It is such a cool campground and with it you get free parking in downtown near the attractions.

What a beautiful, natural, "un-touristy" stretch of rocky shoreline, adjacent to grassy meadow…read morefields, just two blocks from the main drag (Queen Street) in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This area is akin to a craggy shoreline with a walking trail by the water's edge. You can clearly see an old, rocky fort/garrison just across the bay. My TO friends told me that area is actually in Nw York state, and the building is Fort Niagara. When I say it's close, I'm saying a good swimmer could swim there from here! There is a large, prominent hexagonal gazebo centrally located on the grassy stretch by the water's edge. It is quite Victorian in style, with white wooden cut-outs and embellishments. I thought it would make for a gorgeous location, with he craggy shoreline and Lake Ontario behind it, for wedding or engagement photos, or any momentous occasion, really. Just a beautiful site. (A gallery owner later informed us that this gazebo was built for the Stephen King movie, "The Dead Zone", and they gifted it to the town when the movie was done, as so many locals loved it. It really does seem to fit perfectly on the site). There is a large parking lot by the park, but I believe it is paid parking, FYI. It takes but ten minutes to walk the shoreline trail and back, but it's a wonderful stroll on a lovely day, and the area is so picturesque, it's like out of a postcard. Definitely worth the time, if you are in the area
