I have not found anywhere cheaper to get a wax in Leeds that appears professional and clean. I visited it after a recommendation from a girlfriend who said it was easy to get an appointment quickly and she was right. Even during what I would imagine to be a busy period for beauty salons such as weekends over the Christmas party season, I was able to call up in the morning and be hair-free by the afternoon. A half leg only costs £9.50 and the most you will pay for a bikini wax is £18. There are plenty of other therapies that I haven't tried yet such as a Swedish body massage, tanning treatments and a few facial treatments that I am not familiar with like the 'bio-ultimate platinum non-surgical' facial. Maybe something I will let someone else try?!

Which puts me onto the salon and how clean it is unlike many others. Could recommend to all my friends and family!

They offer many different treatments, not just for hair. These include, facials, massages, nail treatments, tanning, holistic therapies using hot stones, and hair removal by waxing. They are one of the only spa's in North England to use Lycon waxing which is supposed to be a much more comfortable waxing experience. They do also do traditional waxing treatments if you prefer, Lycon comes at £5 more than traditional waxing treatments. I am not a fan of tanning, and I don't think anyone should be either, you are a human not a steak, cooking yourself is BAD...but each to their own. The other treatments do look very interesting though, I would definitely try the massage, and the interior and decor looks very peaceful, unlike many salons full of luminous pink accessories, fake breasts and lots of women who have been majorly tangoed. This is the higher end of the realm of beauty salons. They also do Worship Wednesdays where students receive 25% off hair treatments and 20% of beauty spa treatments. Damn! I wish I was still a student!

First, the large silhouetted Buddha on the window and then the name: being into yoga I am familiar with the idea that the body is one's temple. I think this is probably what the marketing department of this company had in mind when choosing these potent motifs and I willingly fell for it. Having had hand-knotted messy dreadlocks and an undercut for 3 years it was a big step deciding to go to pay someone to give me a proper hair cut. After diligently chopping and brushing out the accumulated dirt until my hair was chin length, I decided the final stages of rescue had to be tackled by a professional. So off I popped to the salon that had most prominently stuck in my mind. As an in-experienced salon visitor I was a little nervous but all the staff were very friendly when I explained my desperate need for a hair cut. I had an idea that I wanted something asymmetrical and started making hand gestures around my head that probably made no sense. But my stylist - a young Leeds lady - seemed to catch my drift and explained the options. More importantly she explained that, even though I might want a random shaved bit on one side, it all had to make sense as a whole cut. She talked about how it would look when it grew out, probably realising that I would not become a frequent customer. I didn't feel in any way uncomfortable, as I had imagined I would - the space and the banter pleasant to be part of. As the Buddha suggested in the window it had a calm atmosphere. Best of all I didn't feel pressured into anything I didn't really want. As I left I took them up on the offer of being put on their mailing list for future money-saving offers - even though I haven't yet returned it would be my first port of call in a future hair-cutting event, especially as it wasn't overpriced - only £33 for a whole restyle! Some people didn't even recognise me. I would even consider visiting for another beauty treatment as their hair removing and massage treatments were also reasonably priced.

In this case I booked in for a waxing treatment, it was the first time I'd been to Bliss and I was apprehensive about it. Waxing can go terribly wrong in so many ways and often there's the embarrassment factor. My therapist was very warm and friendly and chatty but not too chatty. Bliss salons use the Australian Bodycare waxing system and it was this, along with the therapist's expertise that prove to be a revelation. I've had waxes in very many salons over the years and even frequented a very fancy place in West London that claims to be favoured by celebrities and I have to say that the wax I had at Baby Bliss was one of the best, quickest and least painful I ever had, not to mention good value for money. The salon and treatment rooms themselves are small and are showing some definite signs of wear and tear so this would not be the Bliss branch to choose for a luxurious and relaxing treat but as a local salon for your regular beauty maintenance you couldn't hope for much better.

I'd been meaning to get a leg wax for an age, and finally decided to bite the bullet, look on Yelp and get myself sorted. I think winter and laziness were the biggest catalysts in the process, having not actually paid any attention to my prickly props for sometime, so I was long overdue a visit. I telephoned to check out the times and such and booked myself an appointment. On the day I came along and was greeted nicely by my beautician, Kirsty, who wasn't in the slightest bit phased when I said, "OK, so I've never had a wax before!" I went through and she talked me through the basics, I got myself sorted and we did a test strip to check it was all good. It was totally fine! In no time at all she was waxing away, whilst we chatted (she was, as Carol C mentions, friendly but not over the top) and in no time I was finished. Of course, it stung a little, but it was by no means a harrowing experience. The salon itself is fairly small and dinky, but very welcoming, as all the staff I encountered were lovely. I was so impressed at the speed of the service I braved a bikini wax then and there, which had a lot more sting to it (I don't believe was anything to with the salon, more my pain tolerance levels!), but the whole process was swift and over in no more than 10 minutes. It was really good of them to fit that in too, as I'd only booked for a leg wax. As a reward for having spent over £30 I got to pick a small gift for myself, which is always lovely, so am now the happy owner of a delightful jar of nail varnish. I also have a loyalty card, so I plan to reap the rewards of that, in time. Essentially, if you want friendly swift service, and a great wax, this is the place to visit. (As great as waxing can be, that is!) Lovely place and lovely staff.
