My partner and I ran across this place when wandering around Old Town in Delft and wanted some…read morelunch. I had eaten plenty of pastries and potato-based food already in my visit to Holland, and was ready for something healthy with vegetables and protein. This place delivered exactly what I was looking for, and then some! The service was friendly, they had an English menu, and everything we ordered was tasty and had high-quality ingredients. The menu had two different quiches, several types of wraps and sandwiches, and a full meal-sized salad on the menu that you can customize with your preferred ingredients that looked good, I'll have to come back another day when I'm craving more greens to try it. We were quite hungry so we ordered two dishes each, but a single sandwich/wrap/quiche would make a nice light lunch or between-meal snack. We each ordered one of the two quiches, and then my partner also ordered a sandwich and I ordered a wrap, and everything was really tasty. All of the dishes came with a fresh green salad dressed lightly with a lovely creamy vinaigrette. They didn't protest when we both ordered tap water to drink (which they can't charge for), but instead brought us a large pitcher of it with ice, which was exactly what we wanted on a warm August day. I'll note that they were happy to take my MasterCard chip + pin debit card, when many vendors in Holland won't accept it, which made paying for our meal nice and easy. Our bill was only €20, or €10/person, a great meal for the price. There's also a shop inside with some beautiful knick-knacks and clothing. I enjoyed browsing the unusual succulent plants they had on display, but unfortunately can't take one home with me on the plane.

De Bijenkorf Rotterdam is one of the largest department stores in the city, located a short walk…read moreaway from Stadhuis, on Coolsingel, it is located in a very impressive building, opening in 1956. It is a high-end department store chain, with the same ownership as Selfridge and Co in the UK, the stores do appear to be very similar to what I'm used to with Selfridge and Co back home, especially in terms of the appearance of the exterior. The main difference for me is the absence of a Food Hall (This particular location does have a Cafe though). The upmarket prices and vibes remain in most areas of the store, I do find some of the store's clothing sections to have vibes most similar to a market, rather than an upmarket department store though. The staff are very friendly and offer good service, with good product knowledge to explain beauty and fragrance products in detail, with benefits when appropriate. It is over multiple levels, with a decent number of escalators/lifts, and toilet facilities. A large department store with good service and a good selection of products, certainly worth a browse when looking to shop or kill some time in Rotterdam. 4*
