This is the place to go for super cheap, fresh produce and interesting sights! The market itself is huge and has three main aisles. One end has mostly food while the other clothes and electronics. The produce stands are amazing, filled with a great variety of fruits and vegetables. To give you an idea of the affordable prices, you can get 3 avocados for 1 euro, 1 kg of brussels sprouts for 1 euro, and other big bunches of greens for a couple of euro. My biggest worry was not that I would spend too much money, but that I wouldn't be able to lug everything back home!
There are also specialty stands that sell olives, bread, and cheeses. If you are looking for something to eat on the spot, there are also little food vendors dotting the market, with everything from halal food to smoked fish and sticks and corn on the cob. I went on Saturday morning around 10AM and it wasn't too crowded, but I read that it gets pretty crowded later on in the day. read more
