When I yelped the closest frame shop, I assumed (having no experience with framing) that I would just be be dealing with a typically indifferent salesperson, pick out whatever frame, and call it a day. But from the first second I walked into the store, it was clear to me that this was a different kind of place. Penny and her husband are not only genuinely awesome people who took the time to make sure I found the perfect frame, but they made me feel like a friend. If you are in need of any type framing, do not look any further. I had a limited edition Phish concert print framed with reclaimed barn wood, and it looks amazing! In fact, it came out so good that it has inspired me to start collecting more concert prints to frame. And you better believe I'm bringing them all to Penny!

Even though I was a walk-in, Penny made the time to look at the piece, figure out exactly what was needed, and take care of things in a professional manner. She didn't try to price gouge me or upsell me and even gave me a same day turnaround of two hours! What's really wonderful is that you're not dealing with a big box store, but instead a person who is truly passionate about her craft and wants to make sure that everything she does is perfect. I have to admit, it looks better than before it was broken. She did such a tremendous job, and I'm happy to be able to display it. I will definitely be going to her for all of my framing needs in the future.

That being said, this is a first rate framing store attached to their factory. Huge selection of mats and frames, some pre-made. The salesman was very helpful and not pushy. He figured out quickly what I wanted. We put the mat and frame together within 5 minutes. Ready in about a week, and it's the holiday season. Plus the pricing is at least half of what the going rates are elsewhere. Yes it's in Paterson near the Great Falls and they save money by not having a sign but I often help friends' frame their pictures. I figured the mounting, mat and frame would be at least $200, which would be a good price. Even $500 wouldn't be out of line upstate NY or outside of Philly. It's $125! I looked carefully at the work being picked up and it's nicely done. As good, if not better than elsewhere. Let's keep their retail business going! Maybe they'll even buy a sign!

Three purchases and I think it's about time I gave a review for Derbyshire…read more.. When we started searching for furniture for our new house a few years ago Derbyshire popped up on just about every list I checked and had plenty of great reviews. Now that we've made a few of our own purchases I totally understand the praise this small business gets. The shop is small but mighty and packed with so many good pieces. If your style leans traditional - they've got it. If your style leans more contemporary/modern - they've got it. Plus a few things in between that could go in either direction and work with just about any style or decor. Everything is solid wood and totally customizable. You can pick your stain or paint plus your hardware (should you order something with hardware, of course). The couple that owns the shop have always been very kind and very patient, answering all the questions... especially when I was coming in every other week for too many weeks to look at dressers before I finally made up my mind. Lead time was accurate, delivery days/times were accommodating and the guys that arrived to place our items were totally courteous. For our last order/delivery the guys didn't leave until they leveled our dressers perfectly. I didn't even have to ask.. they just did it and that's how a good delivery and install team should operate. Truly, I only have good things to say about Derbyshire. Next piece of wood furniture that we need I will definitely be stopping in Derbyshire first to check things out.

He used the CAD system to make sure everything fit properly, and to help visualize creative ideas. In April of this year (2023), I purchased a table from White House in Wayne New Jersey. It was…read moredelivered in June and there were no issues with the delivery and everything was fine. Shortly after getting the table, I placed a couple of plastic bottles on it. Later, I noticed scratches where I had placed the bottles (see attached photo). I thought the scratches might just be marks on the surface and tried to rub them out. I used a plastic scrubber and only made matters worse. I contacted the sales rep at White House Furniture and their response was basically, "oh, well." They would do nothing to help me repair the damage aside from giving me the name of a refinisher. This is a DINING ROOM TABLE but now I am now afraid to put anything on it because it scratches so easily. This table, plus delivery cost me almost $2,000 and I am stuck with a table that needs to be covered to be used. I might as well have gone to a Bob's furniture store and purchased a cheap one if it is going to be covered all the time. I like working with the smaller vendors but will not support vendors who do not stand behind their products. Avoid these people.

When it comes to sewing, they are great for advice and always interested in hearing about projects you're working on. I've shopped there on and off over the years, mostly for patterns that have long since been discontinued. The ones I have found have been great! Their fabric selection, though tends to be geared mostly towards quilting, really does offer a wider variety than one would think. Also, the man who fixes sewing machines is amazing. Such a nice person, and always willing to answer questions. His quick turnaround time was also surprising. He tuned up my machine (which hadn't been serviced in several years) and even left a note with it suggesting something that would make it run better. Big stores are great. But the quality of this store really reminds of how valuable small businesses really are. Stop in and take a look around. Talk to the friendly staff and see what they have to offer.
