It is truly wonderful and worth a visit. The playground is filled with families and children of all ages. Everything is spaced out nicely with plenty of walkways and seating for parents and caregivers. Town Creek also has bathrooms and drinking fountains with easy and convenient parking. No skateboards, bicycles, or pets.

Mountain biking park! This whole park is dedicated to…read moremountain biking! I've never seen anything like this! There's so many awesome trails to just simply shred on a mountain bike around here! The trails are categorized in green/blue/black, like a ski slope. The green trails were pretty flat, usually taking you through the more popular destinations, like the lake and the campgrounds. There were clear markers along each of the trails, which made it easy. The more difficult trails had cypress knees in the trail, or steep slopes. I managed to find a slalom course, with steep banked earthen walls along the curves so you're riding almost sideways. Many of the more difficult trails have all these awesome structures that have been built by local Boy Scout troops, with things like the Wall of Death, a lumber wall that you can hit at high speeds to ride completely sideways while flying through the trails. I talked a big game about the Wall of Death until I saw it. Yikes. Many other state and national parks I've been to that offer mountain biking implore visitors to tread lightly, or go easy on the forest floors. Not this place, they seem to encourage just shredding the place. The park is built around a big lake, and if you pedal all the way through the park, up the big ol' hill, you can get to a trail head that takes you to a pleasant man-made waterfall. There seems to be ample swimming available here in the summertime. I found the restrooms and showers to be nice, pleasant, clean, and fully functional. The campgrounds were not overly crowded, with lots of space between me and my next camper neighbor, who was an Alabama law enforcement officer. I absolutely recommend this park if you're into mountain biking. Wear a helmet!!!

There's even a Pro line that makes your butt pucker just by looking at it. Way above my pay grade as they say. "Chewacla State Park's 696 scenic acres offer plenty of rest, relaxation and recreation, just a short drive from the Auburn-Opelika area. Facilities include a 26-acre lake, swimming area, playground, a modern campground, picnic areas with tables, grills and shelters, cabins, hiking and mountain biking trails."

I enjoyed listening to these beautiful waterfalls inside the Lakewood Park in Phenix City Alabama. This is a large park nestled in a well established neighborhood. I think the name of the neighborhood is the same as the park. I hate to leave this peaceful space and I can't wait to return soon.

One of the best preserved historical military sites here in the United States. The movie in Hanger…read more2 is awesome. When you visit the airfield and its buildings, it feels like you're stepping back in time. I visited on a Saturday and there was only two other families there. Every room I walked into I was the only one in there so I was able to really immerse myself in the settings, sounds, and smells. You can not only go into all the different offices in the hangars, but you can also climb the old control tower. The staff are helpful and friendly. It's free to visit but I would recommend leaving a donation. The site also has a nice little gift shop.

This was an amazing stop! The main part of the site is made up of two historic hangars, one set up to look similar to the time it was in use (including no A/C, but it had large fans) while the other held a modern museum with a few artifacts and living history testimonials from some of the airmen and personnel. There wasn't a lot of foot traffic while we were there, which made it very easy for my kid to complete the junior ranger booklet. And we were surprised when she earned three different badges while we were there! The rangers were very nice and accommodating to allow access to a closed exhibit so my kid could complete the booklet. I would definitely recommend a visit here!

The committed people who maintain them are climate control experts, who are national heros, who gets my respect and admiration. My visit today turned out to be one of my new favorites. The trail which keeps ahold of your attention has been mysterious and exciting to navigate. Tree markers and great management keep you aware of turns and trail pathways. Eighty five miles from where I live on Route US-29, I will not get to use this prestine land much. I will be back with my backpack. Always follow your National park rules and please police yourselves and leave no trace.

What was worse is that the facilities were closed on Sunday for this west coaster I was excited to see this, I guess no one visits on the weekends? It was a ghost town, when I walked around...in some ways good for me, in others how sad and pathetic are we that we can run air condition in empty buildings, but not staff it with any park rangers.

The gentleman that answered the phone said there was space and told us to try to be there before dark. We arrived at 6:30pm, which was after dark, and were told we couldn't camp because he had locked the gate. It would have been helpful if he had told me on the phone not to bother coming if we were going to be there 30 minutes after dark instead of saying "try to be here before dark". We are now in a hotel in Montgomery. Thanks a lot.

Jackson Lake Island is amazing, especially if you are a fan of Tim Burton's Big Fish…read more You enter through a gate, and there is an entire process for paying and then obtaining the gate code. Luckily, we paid, and were then calling the phone number to get the code, when someone who was camping pulled up behind us and put the code in for us. The small road bridge leading from the main land to the island was a little scary for me. Good thing there wasn't a car coming the other way, or I would have freaked out even more. This land is wonderful. I could see the appeal to kayak, fish, or have a picnic here, or even camp here. We stopped at the bathrooms first, and they are clean and provide running water. On our drive to the town of Spectre, we ran into the goats. We were driving down the road and all of the goats were coming at us. We put the car in park and enjoyed the goats. One goat even jumped up on my door to say hello. They are fabulous and very friendly. When we exited the vehicle at the Spectre movie set, a super friendly goat was charging at me, I immediately went into the car and the goat approached my boyfriend. All the goat wanted was some pets. And that's what he got. They are like large dogs. There are swing benches around the lake and it is nice to sit and enjoy the scenery. Watch out for goat poop. That is the only bad thing. The goats keep the island well manicured and provide the best entertainment and are adorable.

My favorite part of this park was the gorgeous view of the fantastic bridge that goes over the river. It is peaceful and FREE entertainment!
