I went to Hello Gorgeous on a whim one afternoon looking for a barber to shave my face before an important job interview. I also decided I would get my hair cut while I was there just to save time. Rachel was the one who answered the phone that day and she also happened to be the barber who did my haircut and face shave. I had no idea what to expect never having been to this location and also never having had my face shaved professionally and I was very very very fortunate to have someone so well qualified to take care of my needs. Rachel is unlike any stylist I have ever been to throughout my lifetime of hair cuts. She actually listened to what I had to say about the style I wanted -- she didn't try to do her own thing or convince me that her recommendation was better than mine. She also never asked me 20 questions like most stylists have done in the past. I don't always want to chat when I'm sitting in a cozy chair getting my hair combed and snipped. Sometimes I just need to relax. After my first service experience with Rachel I definitely wanted to schedule more. She was more than accommodating with my tumultuous work schedule and has always found a way to "make it work" when it became tricky. Since I've been seeing Rachel for the past few years, I have received nothing but what I consider to be the best service I have had in my life. One special thing about my haircut experience(s) with Rachel is that she always shaved my neck with a straight edge -- a next level kind of attention to detail that not only do I appreciate, but I NEED. The first time she did my eyebrows I was shocked with how great they turned out. I have expected to lose all my eyebrow manliness and have pointy, thin, and super-shaped eyebrows. A woman named Jordan hood messaged me after I asked in a group for someone who could do Dutch braids w extensions for a concert, this was a very special event for my daughters birthday, I shared photos of exactly what I wanted, she said she could do them and we agreed on a price, I paid a total of $80 and messaged her after with photos of how they were falling out, she ignored me, and I ended up having to take the braids out of both my daughter and her friends hair. I had requested a balayage with money pieces, and walked out with a botched obre. The top of my hair was my natural hair color, the next section was a burnt orange, and the remainder of my hair was a yellowy blonde. I had been told by the stylist multiple times that the goal was to not damage my hair, I have always had good hair, and now my hair is super damaged. Needless to say I would have not trusted them to fix it, so I ended up taking matters into my own hands, and dying my hair back to its natural color the same day.. if I could give negative stars I would. read more

This salon is huge! It's located on 'the strip'. Walking distance from OSU campus and several bars, shops, and restaurants. Parking is extremely limited if you drive or bike. It's a bit over priced, but very nice. There's an excellent selection of hair products and the stylists are very kind. I went in there looking for a nice fresh haircut, came out looking like Dennis the Menace. Totally messed up my hair length, dyed it the wrong color, and left a bald spot. Bad customer service to say the least. I called a week ago to reserve an appointment and when I went in for my haircut they had to reschedule. My kids needed haircuts desperately and we are new to Stillwater. Chose HG because my daughter wanted to donate her hair. All my kids got fabulous haircut! Went in for my first haircut today in about 8 months and was slightly nervous about the mop on my head. They got me in a chair quick and I only had to show Wendy 1 picture of what I wanted and she instantly knew how to get there. She's a delight and also amazing at her job! She darkened ALL of my hair and made it black even though I asked for light brunette, and she put in yellow blotches of blonde. I was upset after and they argued with me saying that what I go was what I asked for. I was there all day and there were very rude and acting like I did not know what I wanted done to my hair. So, I went in for a perm, the first one fell out withing 3 days.. I went back because my hair professional (Robin) said it would be okay within 14 days of the original set. I went back, was really nervous bc the other hair dressers were saying no, you shouldn't do it again. I asked about breakage and she said,that will never happen. There were 2 rods stuck in my hair which she basically yanked out and not only that you should see my hair now.. I have about 15 rods that were basically fried off my scalp and now it is horrible to see the growth that is happening.. I talked to the owner and she told me they never guarantee perms, but this is beyond guaranteeing anything and seems like an excuse for very bad technique.. I can't wear a hat, I can't put it up in a pony.. I literally have short hairs growing everywhere!! Do not go to this place if you are looking for a change or like me, some body in my hair.. I had an appointment today with Bailey and she was running late, which happens. She called and asked me to come in fifteen minutes later then our scheduled appointment time so I did. I get there and I'm told she's running behind still and it would be an additional 20 minutes minimally. This is unacceptable and the lack of consideration for client's personal lives is evident. Rather then call me telling me that they continued to run late and see if I would like to keep the appointment, they allowed me to get ready and come in before springing that on me. My barber (black hair, nose ring, too much makeup) did a really hasty cut that did not meet my expectations. I normally cut my hair short on the sides and back, and leave it longer on the top. She cut it short waaay too high up, so there was no way to fix it. I expressed my dissatisfaction, but was not compensated. I will never return. read more

I have lived in Stillwater the past 3 years, but have always gone home to get my haircut. Today I threw caution to the wind and went to Hello Gorgeous because they accept walk ins. They were extremely nice when I walked in, and I said i just needed a haircut. Heather cut my hair, and let me say that she nailed it. I showed her a picture of the general idea of what I wanted and she got it to a T. It was a decent price considering all of the work she did to my hair. It wasn't just a wash and cut, she also did a great job of styling it and making sure that I liked it. I will definitely go back there next time I need my hair done. read more
