I visited this McDonalds twice during my trip in Northern Ireland, once for a late night snack and…read moreonce for an early breakfast. There are kiosks to order if you do not want to wait in line to order with a cashier. I noticed there were a lot of young adults at this location, and that it was busy during both times I went. Service seems fast despite having a lot of customers inside. What I tried: -Terry's Chocolate Orange Pie is delicious. We don't have that in the United States. The pie is hot and crispy on the outside, and has a semi-sweet chocolate filling, similar to a pudding consistency, with an orange flavor. The overall taste of the pie is light, and not strong or too artificial tasting in either chocolate or orange. -Hamburger: The hamburger is very small and flat compared to the US, but tastes similar, just slightly healthier. -Cheese bites: Also a non-US item. These are tiny mozzarella and emmental balls in a smoky caramelized onion flavored breadcrumb coating. I thought the cheese would be gooey but it was somewhat solid (but warm). It's served with BBQ Dip. -Mini Hash Browns: Got this in the 15 piece instead of the 5 piece. I counted as I ate and there were 13 in there (oh well). I prefer the minis to the flat hash browns (we don't have the mini version in the US). The mini hash browns are crispy and perfect to pop in your mouth. -Sausage & Egg McMuffin: It was okay. The muffin top and bottom are very thin and the sandwich flavor isn't as salty compared to the US. -Breakfast Wrap with Brown Sauce: This is like a McMuffin but in a wrap. I prefer this since it's more filling as it comes with bacon and potato rosti (hashbrown) too. Brown sauce is hard to describe for me. It's not like a BBQ sauce, so it's not smokey or tangy, it's more spiced, sweet, tamarind-y, vinegary, like a cross of ketchup and Worchestshire sauce. The music was blasting at 8 a.m. so that's one way to wake yourself up. I went up to the second floor to eat. There's barstool seating along some windows, as well as grouped sit-down seating. Both the first and second floors were generally clean.

You know, when you enter a Chinese restaurant full of Chinese guests, that means they are great at what they are doing. Same here, the place was full of Turkish customers, so I was confident that this will be an authentic kebab, nothing fancy but good old meat, salad, sauce and pitta. And I was right! Food is great and even though it can busy in the evening, I was always in and out in less than 10 minutes. Their opening hours are great, they also deliver and you can also pre-order for collection.

The menu is pure kebab shop, the usual array of kebabs on pitta, chips or naan, I plumped for the mixed doner on naan. Service was quick, and in the 10 or so minutes I was in the shop, another two punters came in, this was late on a Sunday, so that's a good sign. Home, and I unwrapped the kebab, there was a lot of salad, a lot of sauce and a lot of meat, I demolished it in double quick time and was struggling at the end, so it was literally a feed for £5.70. I'll be back, good late night filling grub,

Herself and her boyfriend eat there the occasional weekend and it's their fave take-away in the area. They always have their food ready to pick up pretty quickly and they've had no complaints about the staff either. A glance at the menu shows a starter is on average £2.50, kebabs and their vegetarian counterparts are under 5 quid and main courses are £6.95. Elsewhere on the menu there is a choice of tandoori dishes, chefs recommendations, masala dishes, curry dishes and some highly recommendable veggie sides. I recently had Saag Paneer instead of a main course when out for a friends birthday, it was delicious and perfect if you have small appetite. It consists of spinach cooked with onions and garlic and cubes of curd cheese. I'm sure I'll be sampling Taj Mahals version soon. There is ample parking outside which is very handy for visitors. Taj Mahal also offer a delivery service for orders over £10.

They are a really friendly staff that have good chat that remember you. Their indian curries are really great in taste and are perfect for a take away and they are such a bargain. I can't really understand why someone would pay £10 or more at an indian restaurant takeaway service when places like this exist. Such good value because I think you would pay £5/£6 for the equivalent dish. Their portions are huge and will have you belt busting before you know it.

I decided to try Geogia's on Holywood High Street as there's always a queue and I've always wondered if it was actually worth waiting for. First thing I am going to say is the staff are great, there were 3 working when I went in and they seemed to be running a tight ship, each person had their job and they were performing their jobs to perfection. I asked if they took debit card but unfortunately they didn't. The chap working said I could place my order and go to the ATM further up the road and by the time I got back my food would be ready. He wasn't wrong because I came back to the shop just in time to answer the all important question, 'Do you want salt and vinegar?' The food itself was good, although not mind blowing. There's plenty of competition in this area for fish and chips so Georgia's always had a lot to live up to. I got a 'Cod Supper' - I got loads of chips (too many) but the fish portion wasn't huge although it was fried to perfection. The meal was enjoyable and I will definitely be back although I might try something different from their large menu.

I ordered the Cowboy supper( chips, sausages and beans) and my friend ordered a burger (made specially by Georgia herself) and we enjoyed every bite. And after a few bad experiences, think I may just opt for home cooked food the in future. The food is standard Chinese fare. One good thing is that the menu is vast so there's plenty of choice. Perhaps too much choice. If the owners had focused on perfecting a few dishes rather than trying their hand at everything it might make for better cuisine. They offer everything from chips and sausages in batter to 'European dishes' 'thai curry dishes' to a plethora of chefs specials. I have sampled the chicken and beef curries before. They are a bit sickeningly sweet, too watery and contain soggy mushrooms. It's really not the best at all. One time I tried to sample a chicken and cashew nut meal with steamed vegetables to have something fresh. What I got was inedible and promptly went in the bin. Instead of fresh chicken it was made from yucky thin goujons that weren't fresh at all, whilst the sauce was a sickly honey flavour. Yeuck! The prices are pretty reasonable, a curry is £5.60. Nothing on the menu seems to be over the £6 mark. I think you get the picture. Whist the staff are friendly and provide good service, if you have any kind of a foodie palette stay away from The Ruby Star.

I feel bad saying that because its likely a family run business and they work as hard as anyone else. But the food isn't so great and the people working the front counter are not so great at what they do either, the times I have been in there I haven't had great experiences. I recall their curry chips aren't that bad but thats hardly a compliment. With their being better options in the area I would have thought they might attempt to be a little nicer to customers and try and up their food standard. Sorry Ruby, your no jewel in my book!!
