When I started my search for doctor options again this year, I found out about Dr. Joshi via Lapiplasty.com. After some clicking around on his office's page, I found out he took my insurance. I had known about the procedure for a long time and thought he would be a great option for my care. I was proven right. His office staff was great, very polite and professional. While the office does sell orthotics, no one even tried to push them as an option. Their goal really is to help fix the root problem, not put a "bandaid" on it so a patient has to keep coming back. When we sat down, he realized I had existing knowledge of the procedure, aftercare, etc., and agreed it was the best option for me. He ultimate goal when it comes to patients is to fix the problem, not use temporary "fixes." He was great; answered my questions (even the silly ones), he didn't rush the appointment in any way, refused to brush off any topic, and explained every step of the process before surgery. He really is a high-quality doctor, and makes it clear his goal is to help and work as a team with his patients. I am so excited to move forward in the process of fixing my foot with him. My only issue was getting to the office. The GPS kept saying "Take the next right." Normally this is onto a street. However, this time it meant into the office parking lot. Keep this in mind when you visit and leave your starting point a few minutes early.

It was end of July/August and I was planning on running the NYC marathon in November and wasn't sure I would be able to make it. Dr. Shier is a runner himself so, unlike other doctors, he didn't say I should just STOP running because we all know that's not possible. Apparently I had injured my Achilles heel which is very hard to treat. Anyway, he measured my foot for orthodics, gave me some exercises to do and suggested neutral sneakers. He asked the secretary about my insurance coverage and told me it was completely covered. I asked about the cost of a second boot for home use, he told me to pay him another $100. I got a bill from the insurance company for a "medical equipment deductible". When I inquired with the insurance company, they told me his office charged them $630+ for the same $100 boot, I bought from them; and therefore liable for the deductible. The doctor's office informed me that it was common practice to charge the insurance a different price. This is not only dishonest, but an example of why our insurance costs are so high. I complained to the office manager and she had the gall to explain that this was a totally normal and acceptable practice. Doctors are legally obligated to disclose all costs and coverage upfront. Judging from the other negative reviews, this office is not doing that. I went to another doctor, who gave me a totally different diagnosis, received one of five weekly treatments and walked out feeling better than ever. He was surprised to hear about my previous diagnosis and totally ruled out the necessity of a boot. Stay away..

When I inquired about treatments of toenail fungus dr. suggested topical solution distributed by some unknown company He was working with directly. He falsely stated that only one month treatment is needed and success rate of 92% which isn't true! The price for small bottle -one month supply was $85. Meanwhile my personal information was faxed to this company even before I left dr. Joshi office as I got bombarded the same day by texts, calls non stop prompting me to order their product !!! The calls continued for few days until I threatened with charges of harassment ! I was also sold orthotics to alleviate foot pain which did absolutely nothing , on the contrary a heal pad provided by another doctor at considerably lower price REALLY HELPED . And to top everything of - this was the ONLY OFFICE I ever seen that imposes interest CHARGES for using credit card to pay the bill !!!

I was recommended by another podiatrist the 3D bunion correction surgery [the one with two plates]…read morewhich is a newer preciger with higher rate of success and a quicker recovery. This practice said yes, gave me a brochure that explained  the 3D and led me to believe  that's what I will be getting.  Weeks later after the bandages came out I questioned  and asked why the bunion still looks large, my toe is numb and  the bottom of my feet feels so tight. I guess due to unfamiliarity with new 3D correction surgery they performed the old traditional two scrow surery without consulting with me. They should have been honest. Today almost seven month later the bunion is still there and getting larger. The toe is larger, still numb can't band my toe,  the bottom of my feet feels tight like leather. If I wanted to be corrected I will need another surgery. Based on my own personal experience no bunion surgery of any kind.
