I had a really positive experience from start to finish…read more Some backstory: I actually live in Maryland, and was only in NJ for the week on a business trip. I had an ingrown toenail that was giving me some severe pain. If I waited until I got home to have it checked it out, I knew it would be at least another week or two before my schedule would clear up to go see a doctor near where I live. I called Dr. Samofal's office and explained my situation to the receptionists. They said they didn't have any regularly-scheduled appointments available, but they went out of their way to squeeze me in as an add-on patient. When I got to the clinic, Dr. Samofal's assistant reviewed my insurance, and took the time to explain to me the procedure options that would be available to me, and how much each one would cost. Dr. Samofal was very friendly and explained very clearly the benefits of each procedure option. There was some pain with the numbing shots (that's the needle's fault, not his), but otherwise he performed quickly and painlessly. I left with a smile on my face, and a smile on my toe (see the picture to know what I'm talking about). I would definitely recommend his office to anyone seeking treatment.!

The office is filthy. They don't even put paper on the patient chairs. I had to wait over an hour…read moreto be seen in a small waiting room with every chair full. The doctor seemed knowledgeable when I met with him but I felt like I needed to take a shower when I got home.

At best he is incompetent, at worst, he is a crook. He is probably a combination of the two. I…read morepicked him from my insurance book. I visited him in his home/office. he had no staff, and was answering the phones, taking insurance, and acting like a receptionist all by himself. I handed him my insurance card, and he wrote down my name and insurance number. He did not even have a photocopy machine. The first thing he said to me is, "you have giant feet, do need to have your shoes specially made? My shoe size is a 12 1/2- 13. Hardly giant, and it would be strange that a person who claimed to work with feet for a career would be so shocked by size 13 feet. He then told me he wanted operate on both of my feet. I declined, and went to NYU, where I saw an orthopedic foot surgeon, who told me that this was nonsense, I did not require any such foot surgery. Things only got worse with Simon from there. I began to get bills and threatening letters and phone calls from his billing/collection agency. This agency, was very dirty, just like Simon. They had no address listed, only a P.O. Box. They accused me of not having insurance, and threatened me with suit, and to ruin my credit. They claimed that I did not just owe him the contracted amount by the insurance, but I owed him his full rate, which was at least twice as much. I explained to them that I had insurance, and it must have been billed wrong. I asked the full name of their company, and their physical address, and their names. They refused to provide me with any of that. When I tried to look up this business to report them, I could not find them existing anywhere, except in their threatening calls and letters. They finally agreed to bill it again, and to no surprise, the insurance claimed that this was not a valid insurance number. They said "once may be a mistake, but on the second time, no mistake. You are lying about having insurance. Now you must pay us the full amount. This was accompanied by more threats of suit, ruining my credit, and again, they refused to give the full name of the company, nor their physical address. Neither Simon nor his thugs apparently entertained the possibility that the insurance number that he wrote down, was not what was printed on my card. I called his office several times, and left messages, but he did not return my calls. They continued to send me threatening letters. When I finally got ahold of him, he screamed at me, calling me a faker, and somehow claiming that I produced a counterfeit insurance card, instead of the simple answer that he wrote down the numbers wrong. So, we are left with podiatrist who was shocked to see a size 13 foot, wanted to do unnecessary surgery, did not even have a photocopy machine, cannot write down an insurance number correctly, and uses dirty collections to try to get even more money than he is entitled to, and screams at people who resist this fraudulent activity.

We met doctor Joshi as a referral. He was amazing! Not only did he heal my foot and my husbands toe…read morehe is just wonderful. We drive a half hour no traffic to keep going for all our needs. Office is clean. Staff is helpful, and he knows his stuff. My favorite thing about him is 1) he doesn't have the God complex, 2) he's knowledgeable, and 3) cares. Very important since most doctors are in and out. Disclaimer I work in healthcare. He never stops amazing me.

When I started my search for doctor options again this year, I found out about Dr. Joshi via Lapiplasty.com. After some clicking around on his office's page, I found out he took my insurance. I had known about the procedure for a long time and thought he would be a great option for my care. I was proven right. His office staff was great, very polite and professional. While the office does sell orthotics, no one even tried to push them as an option. Their goal really is to help fix the root problem, not put a "bandaid" on it so a patient has to keep coming back. When we sat down, he realized I had existing knowledge of the procedure, aftercare, etc., and agreed it was the best option for me. He ultimate goal when it comes to patients is to fix the problem, not use temporary "fixes." He was great; answered my questions (even the silly ones), he didn't rush the appointment in any way, refused to brush off any topic, and explained every step of the process before surgery. He really is a high-quality doctor, and makes it clear his goal is to help and work as a team with his patients. I am so excited to move forward in the process of fixing my foot with him. My only issue was getting to the office. The GPS kept saying "Take the next right." Normally this is onto a street. However, this time it meant into the office parking lot. Keep this in mind when you visit and leave your starting point a few minutes early.
