You will also improve: - the health of your joints - your posture and balance - the control of your breathing as part of this moving meditation. I would kindly suggest taking one hour class daily or weekly with Mr. Stephen Wing. Stephen has been teaching Tai-Chi for fifteen years. He has been giving Tai-Chi classes five times per week. Stephen has also years of Kung-Fu practice. This teacher has been consistently patient and encouraging. As it is the case for running, Tai-Chi can be practice everywhere and with minimal gear. A pair of flat shoes with thin soles and you can rejuvenate...It is practical if you were on a business trip for example. Moreover, Tai-Chi is a low-impact sport. The DVD "Tai-Chi paradigm" will be soon released on Amazon. If you were to prefer to learn the Tai-Chi exercising sequence in the comfort of your own home, it would be an option.

After looking at many different schools, we were sold on the Cha family as soon as we watched one of their classes for children. The Cha's artfully mixed rigor and discipline with compassion and understanding in managing a diverse group of students while keeping the class fun but structured. We were also impressed with their offering of family classes that allowed parents and children to train together--something which helped keep my son going through the program and kept him committed past his black belt. The Cha's are also very committed to the community they have built among their school's members. They do what they can to help and support families and were outstanding during the pandemic by structuring online classes, developing a remote testing program so that students could advance in rank, and driving and delivering belts to the students. Leading by example, the Cha's have created a community of members who are all supportive and respectful of each other. Since re-opening in the summer of 2021 in a beautiful new location, the Cha's are offering an outstanding program of in-person training (masked for now). Cha's Taekwon-Do is an excellent place for children to build confidence and discipline (that translates to school work), for families to train together and share in the experience, and for adults to improve their fitness and flexibility while learning a practical martial art. I have seen many other martial arts schools over the years and none compares to Cha's Taekwon-Do. It is definitely worth a look.

As a kid who sometimes has trouble concentrating in school, he is always focused in the taekwondo classes. The teachers know each student and are a perfect mix of firm and encouraging that helps the students to thrive. They also get to know the families and maintain a community feel around the school. I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a martial arts school for themselves or their children.

Right from the very beginning, Sensei Logan's natural talent of working with children stood out. The high energy, fun music, and caring environment facilitated the requisite space for our daughter to thrive. She continues to learn the Kung Fu techniques, make belt advancements, build self-confidence, and improve her balance and coordination. Most importantly: she LOVES it! Recently, my husband and I also enrolled our three-year-old, autistic son into Kung Fu classes at SDSS Newton. Because of the pandemic, we were concerned that our son's sensory profile would clash with the robust health & safety protocols (which include kids keeping a mask on, checking temperature at the door, using hand sanitizer, each child staying in their own "zone", etc.). After expressing our concerns, Sensei Logan worked holistically with our family toward finding solutions which have enabled our son's successful transition into regular Kung Fu lessons. It is also worth noting separately that during the pandemic, the Digital Dojo experience has been both enriching and fun. The consistency provides motivation for the kids to continue practicing their skills throughout the week and keeps them mindful of and thinking about the Shaolin Rules. Sensei Logan's level of skill, integrity, dedication, and kindness are impressive, impactful, and inspiring.  He leads by example. As parents, my husband and I appreciate that our two autistic children are valued members of the Dojo who are offered the same level of respect and dignity as any other student. We highly recommend!

I have been practicing martial arts off and on throughout my life: judo as a young kid; tae kwon from late teens to mid-30's. One characteristic I look for in a martial arts school is how the instructors work with children. Sensei Joe is great with kids and the parents really enjoy talking with him after. Sensei Joe takes time to further explain techniques and show parents what the children and them can do to further work on skills while not at the school. Another characteristic I look for in martial arts schools is how the communication is between the upper belts and the lower belts. All of the people are super nice, helpful and take the time to explain technique and style. The only issue that I hinted at above is the hours. If the classes were earlier or the commute shorter, I would continue here. Definitely, if you live in the area or are able to attend, then this place is great to learn judo.

They had fun activities planned, everyone got to run around and get some ya-yas out, two teenage helper-coach-people were assigned to help me with logistics and cleanup, and it remains the most successful birthday party of my parenting career. All the kids signed a block of wood, and my kid got to break the board with a karate chop as the grand finale. I mean, come ON. What could be cooler than that?

My 8 year old has done karate off and on for several years, and is now an orange belt. The children's classes are grouped by age and a range of belt levels. There are always multiple teachers: generally a Sensei and "Delta Corps" teenagers with higher level belts so that after a warm-up with the entire group, the class is split up into smaller groups according to skill level. There are families who clearly spend a lot of time here - with adults and children taking karate classes. We are a family who just does a once a week karate class, and feel welcome. At the time of this review they are offering FirstYoga (child, parent/child) classes and TaiChi (just starting). We have done the "pizza and movie night" which facilitates a night out for Mom & Dad (while you leave your child at Esposito's). I know they have very early morning gym hours (4:30 am) by keycard. Since I am not a gym member, can't tell you more. This is a great local community karate teaching center.
