Fish Chip & Co is located on Bolton Road West in Ramsbottom, I decided to come here today to grab…read moresome fish and chips after hearing some good things about their gluten-free options. Parking nearby is fairly limited because it is a residential area with narrow streets, so I did find it a little difficult to find a suitable space to park where I could sit in the car to eat without causing any difficulty for nearby motorists and pedestrians. The interior is pretty typical to any chippy, it was small and noisy but it was clean and the menu board looked slick and modern. I did have some difficulty communicating with the man behind the counter due to the noise, he originally thought I had ordered three portions of fish and chips, but I quickly confirmed I said gluten-free instead. I felt uncertain while waiting he had actioned this request though. Pricing is reasonable and competitive and it cost slightly less than I'd pay at my usual choice for fish and chips, although the portion was slightly smaller. In full, I ordered - Gluten-Free Fish and Chips - Gluten-Free Sausage - Gluten-Free Irish Curry The fish and chips were OK, it was a little overcooked for my liking, while the batter was crispy the fish could have been better. The chips were nice though, especially with the curry sauce and I enjoyed the sausage. Overall, it certainly wasn't bad, I've better but I have also had a lot worse and would return if I was in the Ramsbottom area again. 3*

The gravy was just how it should be. I know this isn't something you expect anyone to get wrong, but they all to often manage to miss the mark. This simple heart-stopper was done to perfection!

Nando's - Medium Chicken Butterfly with Peri Chips and Spicy Rice £15.20

Nando's in Bury is part of The Rock in the town centre, it's a pretty good Nando's…read more In terms of vibes and decor, it's indistinguishable from any other Nando's, there is a small outdoor seating area but it wouldn't be the most welcoming sitting outside on the corner of a busy main road and a shopping area, combined with the weather. The seating area is comfortable if you're lucky enough to get the cushioned seating. The opening hours are good, they're open until 10 pm daily, although Pizza Express across the way does open an hour later at the weekend and it would be nice to see them follow suit here too. I did find the food expensive for what it is, as of October 2024, my meal came to £15.20, which I find to be rather expensive for fast casual, and that doesn't include extras such as drinks and Perinaise. The prices also seem to be rising out of control, even in the current climate, they seem to be putting their prices up every couple of months, much more frequently than rivals. Despite being a chicken restaurant, they don't offer regular mayonnaise, so you'll have to choose between their vegan alternative or pay extra for their Peri-naise (mayonnaise mixed with peri-peri sauce) I ordered my usual Nando's order, which would be a Chicken Butterfly (medium spiced) with peri-chips and spicy rice, the manager who took my order had good knowledge of allergens and the menu and explained that there had been some changes to the menu, he used his tablet to confirm my food would still be ready to eat. My food came out very quickly, by the time I'd got my cutlery, sauces and water, it was pretty much ready. I was pleased with the quality of my food, the chicken was cooked well, and the fries were seasoned well, I would have liked slightly more rice though but the portion size with the fries and chicken was good. One of my guests ordered a chicken Ceasar salad with the peri-tamer, adding avocado, he was very complimentary towards this. The chicken portion in the salad was again generous. 4* - This is obviously a good Nando's and a great addition to the town of Bury, while I don't really think it's value for money and I hate the fact they refuse to provide regular mayonnaise, I would return again.
