    Cappuccino
    Hannah Q.

I popped to Launderette with my husband, 8 month old and sister late afternoon on a bank holiday. We just wanted to go somewhere for a casual drink and the busy outdoor space with people enjoying coffees, cocktail and pizza drew us in. We were greeted by a friendly server who explained that the patio is only open until a certain time due to licensing (which seems a shame) but as we only wanted a quick coffee it was no problem to seat us out there. We managed to grab a large table with low comfy sofa style seating and I can imagine happily whiling away a few hours with a few cocktails on a warm summer's evening there. As I said, we only wanted coffee so I ordered a decent enough cappuccino and my husband and sister both went for flat whites. My husband wasn't massively enamoured by his as to be fair it looked pretty much the same as my cappuccino and not the smaller, less frothy drink it should be. Most other people around us seemed to be enjoying cocktails from the pretty extensive and interesting sounding cocktail menu and lots of people were having food too. We didn't look at the food menu but I think it is quite pizza heavy and the ones I saw looked pretty good. I've only given it a 3 as we didn't experience everything they have to offer on this occasion and based on the flat whites not really being flat whites I couldn't really give it a 4. All in all though it was a really pleasant place to have a drink and a chat in the sun and I'm planning on a return visit soon for a bite to eat and to try out the amazing sounding cocktails.

This place was recommended to me as I wanted a casual meal in a cool place in Chorlton and this place didn't disappoint. Everyone was sat outside and there was no room so we were briefly seated inside until a spot became available. On Sundays, there is a DJ. If you are sat indoors, this isn't ideal as you can barely hear yourself talk. The menu/placemat is very amusing with terminology, symbols and pictures and my friend took one hope as a souvenir. Drinks are cool and are served in jars with coloured straws. This is a place to come to for cocktails and they have ahappy hour. We ordered dough balls to start with and a pizza each. My friend ordered the mushroom, pancetta and rocket pizza. The presentation of this pizza was disappointing as there was too much rocket placed on top. I opted for the smoked ham, black pudding and spicy sausage pizza. The pizza was really tasty. I got to the last quarter where I had to ditch the knife and fork and use my hands as the dough was a bit burnt but it was where all the meat was! The tomato base was really sweet and tasty which was the highlight of the pizza. Negatives, the music was too loud indoors, the seats are quite low and we struggled to get out of them or it may be that I'm getting old and with any alfresco dining there were a no. of smokers near us and the wait staff were not observant enough to get them an ashtray so there they put ash on the decking. Overall a great place to eat if you like being amongst the hip folk of Chorlton. Food and drink looks good and very fresh.

Lots of outdoor seating, only half of which was accessible when we showed up during an almighty downpour. Like true Brits we braved the rain and stayed for food, even when half of our table was soaked. To eat we ordered a smoked ham and Bury black pudding pizza, fat chips with parmesan and truffle oil, and hummus with flatbread. The pizza was delicious, piled high with meaty goodness with a crisp base. Fat chips were pretty good. The hummus tasted okay, and there was a lot of it for the price, though I found the grainy texture quite offputting. Staff were great, with one member of staff in particular doing everything in her power to keep us dry, and giving us the option to cancel our order/get the food boxed up if the rain got too bad. We paid £25 for a pizza, chips, hummus, and two pints of Löwenbräu which isn't bad value. Overall I would happily head back here, though maybe not while it's raining.

    Blueberry gin mojito. Yum!

Popped in for a light bite on a Sunday afternoon and was impressed. The menu had some good sounding dishes and options to share. The drinks menu is also rather amazing! We sat outside at a comfy table and staff made the two kids at our table very welcome, bringing over some fresh berries for them to munch on and hats and crayons. It took me a while to decide what cocktail to order and while my blueberry gin mojito was delicious, I was envious of a number of other cocktails I saw heading to other tables including one topped with home made candy floss! We are the sharing platter which was tasty and a generous portion and had a few sides too, the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've tasted. Would definitely head back again. Lost a star for only having one female toilet! There was a long queue when the place wasn't even that busy.

Quite expensive, but the food is good. I had the halloumi and it was really nice, but quite spicy! The coffee doesn't taste that nice though. Good amount of seating and the outdoor heaters are a godsend! Worth a visit if you're in the area - fits in really well with the Chorlton vibes!

I've been many many times since and now I live so close by, it's one of my local bars on a night out. This underground tiki-themed dive bar is small, but always has the best atmosphere. The drinks are all yummy, mainly rum based and the cocktails are a delight to watch being made and to drink! The bartenders in Liars are very friendly and are always up for a laugh. I do find that Liars Club is better during the week than at a weekend - the weekend gives off a different vibe, and gets a little too busy for my liking - but rest assured you'll have a good night in here no matter when you visit.

Plus, I read this place was known for its many types of cocktails so I wanted to check it out! The bar is well decorated and looks like it was taken from a set of the cheap version of Gillian's island or something. The decorations can be considered tacky, but come on... It's a tiki bar! I give props to them for their effort. They have a big cocktail menu so don't come here for just a glass of wine or beer... Nope, you're in the wrong bar for that! When we ordered our drinks, we found out that there was a 2 4 1 deal, so we ended up with one extra drink...score! We ended up ordering the zombie (it had fire so I thought it was cool) and three others I can't remember... Haha. All I remember is the drinks were strings, some were well mixed while others were eh it was ok... Just tasted like alcohol. Though the bar is cool, it does have a smelly funk to it so prepare to close your nose especially if the place is crowded...the drinks are cool, pretty creative but the art of making yummy cocktails is kinda lost because the proportion of the juices and alcohol isn't quite well done. Fun place to go to though if you don't care about that stuff!

Magical? Chemical?…read more The alchemist is not only a nice surrounding to sit in but the service and food are great and delicious. When we checked in and were asked if there were any allergies we made jokes about my husband's allergy to cinnamon - that we would not need to worry about out it before desert. We ordered a few items from the menu - which is a very delicious mix of classics with some twists (tempura fried fish and chips for example). Order was taken and a couple minutes later the manager came and said "I am sorry - but the sauce to the fish contains a bit of cinnamon" wow! We change the order of course and the manager came back to the table asking if we would be worried about cross termination. We have been not and everything went well after that. Great service. The food itself plays with the alchemist theme for example the chorizo meatballs come with a syringe to inject your own amount of cheese (what you think? Yes of course o injected the whole Syringe into the little delicious meatball duhh). The menu consist of a lot of small items which makes me so happy since I can have so many bites of different things and at the alchemist they are all worth it! And of course classics like burger, salads and sandwiches alongside their mains. The menu is not too big but literally has something for everyone. You have to try the crispy pork skins! After we had been told that the crispy fish contains cinnamon my husband learned they offer their "chicken in a basket" as a vegetarian version as well and that is what he got. Damn that is so good: A bed of chips (fries for our American friends) are surrounded by one of the best coleslaw I had in a long time (almost as good as Guy Fieri's if not even better) then slightly pan seared onions and peppers layer on top of the fries. Ready to be mixed in. Then of course a generous amount of chicken or in this case plant based chicken smothered in a sweet chili sauce. Not to forgot to mention that it came with an extra little bowl of dipping sauce. Delicious! We also had a mocktail which name I might not be allowed to recite here let's named it "virgin adult film star" what a perfect combination of fruit, creme and sweetness. Yummmmmm To end the night I had coffee and Choclate - any serving of coffee comes with a set of three pralines. What a way to end the night at the alchemist. Great atmosphere perfect service and delicious food and drinks.

Recently opened, the new restaurant is one of the few on First Street so it is quite easy to find. Obviously we took advantage of the January offer and judging by how busy it was on a Tuesday night, so did a lot of other people! Walking it the vibes were really good with great lounge music playing and people chatting away. The menu and drinks offerings seemed to be the same and prices very reasonable. We all knew what we wanted to have anyway- our favourite burger or pizzas! We started with a sharing platter which would probably suit 2 people more than 4, but everything on the board was cooked perfectly. We especially liked the spicy mayonaise as it had a good kick to it. I really liked the burger- big thick and juicy with accompaniments to match and we ordered 1more mac and cheese to share halfway through our meal cos we couldn't get enough of it! The staff were really friendly and bubbly which made the night an even better experience. We sat on the outside tables, so you might want to watch out for the heaters, as they are really hot! I must say, I was very impressed with this restaurant, and dare I say it, as good as the original!

Hence, enter stage left, the manager. He tried to see how it could be put right, it was taken away, and returned 8 minutes later, medium to well done. My appetite was lost, as I took one slice and then left it on the plate. My wife had: Grilled spatchcocked poussin, charred red onion relish, pomme purée, chicken sauce (£28.00) - She half of the poussin, and left the lukewarm pomme purée. However, she didn't complain. (NOTE HERE: Daughter was on another table the other side of the bar away from us. I learnt that she had sent her steak back too.) The place was packed with drinkers around the bar and on the terrace area. I think I concur with another reviewer: " It's more of an influencer hot spot, first day with for a sugar baby, mixed with a London finance bros wooing clients dinner spot vibe. Nothing really screams luxury or fine dining except the prices IYKYK. " A brash clientele, who I found quite rude in their behaviour. One chap bumped into me, and definitely their fault for not looking, but no apology. That's not the fault of the restaurant, but possibly the type that is attracted. I think my wife was sold on this place based on the hype she'd read, and the views. I will not return nor can I recommend. I'm generous with the 2 stars.

I was lucky enough to have Neil C. take me to Manchester House last Friday as a treat for starting my new job. I have visited the bar on 12th floor numerous times and have always been impressed, but this was the first time for dinner. Upon arrival, the hostess on the ground floor congratulated me on my new job! Excellent customer service and such an amazing, personal feel. She knew this from when the table was booked, but she didn't have to say anything. She did and it was amazing. Heading out of the lift into the restaurant we were greeted by a few more lovely hostesses. They welcomed us, took our coats and we were shown to our table. Walking through the restaurant, it has been very cleverly designed so that you walk past the kitchen first, giving you chance to see some of the dishes being prepared and sent out to their tables. I was SO excited. We ordered 2 full tasting menus. I ordered the drinks flight in addition and Neil C. went for the wine flight.
