Was led here as part of our cruise excursion at the end of it. First off, for such little time you have, they will waste it by trying to get to force you into buying an overpriced rug. The initial cost of the rug will be at least 10x the actual worth. Then they bargain it down for you so you feel like "you're getting such a good deal" when in actuality you're still overpaying by 3-5x the true cost. They claim it's handmade, they put on a whole show for it, but I found the same exact rug we were pressured to purchase at another store in the bazaar as it was displayed in the window! I looked on Amazon later in the day to find the exact same one for 1/4 the price we paid. I read a review that they tried to peddle more rugs upon delivery- this is exactly true. Fortunately, we didn't have to deal with that because we weren't available at the time they wanted to deliver the rug, but when they called they literally said "oh I have some extra rugs I wasn't able to sell, I'll give them to you for 50% off." (WTF??). Anyway, they ended up shipping the rug to us via fedex rather than hand delivering, and I couldn't believe how, for such an expensive "investment" they f*cking FOLDED up the rug into a 1.5ft x 2.5ft RECTANGLE, wrapped it in plastic, placed in a thin-material rice bag, and this is how it was shipped! I opened it and it was DAMP for some reason, and had terrible wrinkle lines which now ruin the sheen/pattern of the rug as some of the fibers are now bent in different directions. I can't stop kicking myself for not just leaving the facility immediately (which actually was a bit out of my control, they try very hard to stop you)...but suffice to say I will never return to Türkiye ever again because this is what their culture is like. I won't even bother to get this trash appraised because after doing research I'm almost 100% sure it's not handmade and fake. I only hope this will help save the next poor tourist who ends up here. Can't believe the cruise company "backs them up"...don't go for it, all of them are getting a cut of your hard earned money. read more
