Yelp Review 2023 #266:
You go to Vienna for the opera, the cafes for the coffee, cakes and pastries, Christmas markets, the schnitzel, and chocolates. Chocolate-wise, nothing screams Austrian louder than Mozartkugeln, marzipan with pistachio in the center (or not) covered in chocolate.
Heindl is a popular shop that has different chocolates and variations of Mozartkugeln. I personally prefer the one with pistachio. They also have alcohol, gum drops, some white chocolate (they know there's no point in white chocolate), and some vegan items.
What I got were the Mozartkugeln and Schoko Maroni (chestnut cream in chocolate shaped like a pointy chestnut). Not a huge fan of the Schoko Maroni - I've never had it before so I'm not sure why I got a whole box of it! But now I know. The Mozartkugeln are tiny balls but I can only eat 2 at a time because they're quite sweet. I've never had chocolate that gave me satiety after eating 2 pieces. They're perfect gifts for friends and family since they're individually wrapped. But I didn't buy for any of my friends and family - I'm just saying it's a good idea. read more
