Had my 3rd visit to this office and have been treated respectfully each time. The staff is great…read moreabout answering questions plus researching what my insurance will cover. My insurance has changed in network for glasses this year, which makes me sad as they have been great with helping me chose what looks good on me.

I went to him for over 20 years so it pains me to leave this review. I had two different issues…read morehappen--all since he opened the current business here and multiple smaller ones. First, the doctor himself is amazing. His family, however, is mostly not. The wife called me to tell me I had an overpayment of $30 after insurance. Would I like her to send me a check? YES, I say. But she then never sends one. I stop by when I'm close--a few months later--and ask for the money. She spends a lot of time (reminder, I only know of the refund due to them telling me) and informs me that I actually owed them $10 more than I paid, and she hands me a check for $20. Which is bizarre. Then she tells me to enjoy "a steak on them". What the heck? It was my money, lol, none of it makes sense and she was rude the whole time. The other main issue--is that while I and my husband a had insurance through his work our kids were on Healthy MT Kids because our insurance deductible is $5,000 which means we pay 100% for everything ,so this was to their benefit. Well, it was upsetting to this family. The son, who is now a doctor there, decided it was utterly offensive and showed my kid some frames while saying "Medicaid" frequently. Always with that word louder than the rest of the sentence, which caused other people looking at the glasses to look at me. Every. Single. Time. It was humiliating. At the counter my kid asked for an ice cream and then he said something to me about how I might have to get a job. I stood there with my mouth hanging open, eventually getting in my car and crying while my two kids sat there. The only thing I even qualify for is Healthy Montana Kids. You have to work to meet the minimum income requirement to even be on that program. It's for the underinsured so kids get what they need. Not to bash those who even don't work, but it's not true. I can't imagine how they would treat someone on regular Medicaid. Although it's my understanding they no longer take it and his wife Sherry informed a person on the phone in front of me "it's not worth it" when someone called to see if they took that. One told me they had a lot of kids and they "self insured" them. It was so over the top that it was shocking. To many the kind doctor may be worth it. I get the feeling the idea is for the son to take over one day and he's now a doctor there. I highly recommend not going to him. What he did to me that one day spoke volumes about who he is. I tried to stay, and then the thing happened with the mother/wife Sherry and the overpayment and I'm just done. I took my kids elsewhere and I stayed. It just became not worth it to deal with the rest of his family. However, the other son who works in the office was always kind. I've watched his wife be rude to people on the phone also. I'm just sad to even write this, I was so excited when he got a new business going after his stroke and the issues with Vision Optical. I wanted them to succeed and continue going there. I just can't because you have to deal with the office.
