If you ever have a dental emergency while visiting the Gettysburg area and need prompt dental care,…read moredon't hesitate to contact Gettysburg Dental Associates. After chipping my tooth on Thursday evening I contacted the dental office on Friday morning and was able to get an appointment early that very day. Gettysburg Dental Associates was professional and courteous from the time I called the office to the completion of my tooth repair. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr Seidel and his dental care team of Mckinlee, Katelyn, Amanda, and the whole office staff.  They provided outstanding and stellar patient care. I highly recommend Gettysburg Dental Associates.

There is no clear verbal explanation of potential fees. I had to cancel two appointments for legitimate reasons. Both times, I called the morning of the appointment and was told it was "fine." At no point during either call was I informed that I would be charged a fee. When I later rescheduled, I was hit with a $70 "rescheduling fee" -- $35 for each cancellation. This was never mentioned when I called. Transparency matters, and this felt deceptive. To make matters worse, on the day of my most recent appointment, the office cancelled on me. Did I receive a credit? A refund? An apology paired with policy consistency? No. Apparently the fee policy only applies one way. Policies are understandable. Lack of transparency and double standards are not. After this appointment, I will be finding a new dental provider -- one that prioritizes patient communication, fairness, and mutual respect over rigid policies and revenue protection. If you're considering this office, make sure you ask very specific questions about their cancellation policy -- and get everything clarified upfront.

I received an email prior to this morning's visit informing me that the retainers were ready, for a cost of $406.00. When I asked the assistant why I was being charged, she told me to talk to Rachel, who would provide me with an explanation. Rachel explained that there were several treatments provided to me, that they forgot to bill me for going back to 2022 for periodontal procedures. 2022?!? Apparently, there were 4-5 services I received between 2022-2025. Since when does a dental clinic forget to bill a patient? Something that might have been overlooked a year ago, I can understand, but billing errors going back four years? I never received any billing in the mail for any of these services from the clinic or Delta Dental, which they stopped accepting last year. They never gave me a phone call or email explaining the billing mess until I asked why I was being charged for the retainers. This amounts to unprofessional and unethical behavior by what was once a professional institution. How do I know these are legitimate charges? I was not even provided with documentation other than what Rachel had on her computer screen. I was not provided with a detailed summary of the charges. I feel as though I was deceived. I am requesting a detailed summary of charges, insurance payments, and true balance due broken down by date.

I was a patient of this practice for about 4 years, and I don't have any complaints about the…read moretreatment I received - it was about average, not bad but not outstandingly good, either. My problems were with the office administration. For starters, they changed the insurance coverage they accepted twice in the 4 years I was a patient, so I had to change my coverage as well - that's twice in four years, so I wasn't staying with any insurer long enough to qualify for the full benefits. And I would only find out about these changes when I showed up for my appointment just to be told, "Oh, we don't take that insurance anymore." There were no treatment or billing coordinators, so if I wanted to discuss a treatment plan, it had to be with one of the dentists - and I had to wait 6 months for a consultation appointment. And if I had follow-up questions, I had to take them to the receptionists who were not qualified to answer those questions. So even though I like all the people in the office, I am now shopping around for a new dentist.

I recently had to switch from my current local dentist because our insurance no longer supported them in our network. I initially had some concerns because I was happy with my previous care, you know how it is. But by the time I left it was obvious I would be in good hands. Everybody was very polite and interested in answering all of my questions. I'm relieved to be continuing my dental healing journey here at a business that clearly cares for its patients. The website indicated they participated in a MetLife Dental program I did not recognize, but did not address the MetLife federal program. I called and was told I would just have to call MetLife to find out. I went to the Federal program section of the MetLife web site and Michael Tomczyk DDS was the first provider listed near Dillsburg. I then called the Dillsburg Dental Care office again and it was allegedly answered by the dentist himself. He proceeded to pass the telephone to the female who had answered my original call. I began to explain that their practice was listed under MetLife's federal program but was interrupted by her statement that I would have to pay her $20.00 in cash personally in order for her to "look it up". Shocked, I said "you're kidding" to which she replied "no, the doctor is right here and he said so." She then hung up on me.

I was 10 minutes late for my appointment and he started with a rude, smug "hurry on back, we're having a VERY late start today." I complied and tried to help hasten the process as I felt bad for being late but it didn't matter. Within 5 minutes he said we'll I can go ahead and give you a root canal today if you want. I had one done before and it was terrible so I was skeptical of it as well as the attitude he had. (Would you want someone with a bad attitude towards you working on your teeth?) So I tried explaining how I wasn't tally prepared for a root canal and he said im not comfortable rescheduling you as late as you were so I think your better off going someplace else". I was in no way letting this a- hole work on my teeth. It's possible that he is good at working on teeth but his people skills are terrible and his patience and compassion is very lacking.
