This gallery moved to this location after being on pricey Canyon Road, and the space seems like it is much better suited to the wide variety of works they display.
We attended an artist's talk by Moira Garcia, whose fascinating work was featured for the month. We arrived early enough to wander the gallery for a little while, enjoying the eclectic, surprising, and exciting "made by hand" works by local artists.
Moira's paintings that focused on the idea of florescence, as influenced by Nahuatl culture and art, were stunning, large-format, unframed works that were mesmerizing on their own. The gallery also featured her lithographs based on Codex hieroglyphs, and included a major work on delicate Mexican paper that was actually two paintings sliced up and then woven together into a third, composite work.
The gallery provided pastries and coffee for the healthy-sized crowd who showed up on a Sunday early afternoon, and kept finding more folding chairs to accommodate the stream of interested folks who stopped by for the talk. Highly recommended as a stop on your downtown Santa Fe wanderings. read more
