The Marshall Life Center is a decent gym. It has a variety of things to offer (swimming lap pools,…read moreweight machines, free weights, cardio machines, personal trainer, training classes, locker rooms, etc.) for a great price. I didn't pay for the membership fee. I opted to pay $48 dollars for 1 month instead. I, personally, use the cardio machines and the free weights/weight machines, and they're always available - I've never had to wait in line. The equipment is typically clean - the staff provides an abundance of small towels and have alcohol wipes placed in opposite ends so that the people can use to clean the equipment after they're finished using it. A downside is that you can tell that some equipments are getting a little rusty and old. For example, the dumbbells are very loose and squeaky. I have to tighten the screws in the dumbbells to keep it from falling apart sometimes. Another slight downside is that there's not a true indoor track to run in. There is a "track" that you can run/walk on - it basically circles the cardio and weight machines area in one loop - but you would need to do about 25 laps in order for it count as 1 mile. It's definitely not a big gym - no where near the size and capacity of gyms like Lifetime or 24, but the one storied Life Center is more than enough for a small town. Overall, if you're a gym rat who's looking for a variety of things ranging from availability of equipments to good hygiene upkeep to good membership prices, LIfe Center is good choice.

I know a lot of people have said they're worried about coming to this gym because theyre intimidated by it. That is the absolute opposite of what people need to think. The people that come here are of all fitness levels and get along flawlessly. Nobody judges anyone for their abilities and are phenomenal people. The new owner (Mike) is trying hard to make sure people feel welcome and is always willing to talk to people about any concerns or complaints. Outstanding environment, new equipment, and great people. I recommend this gym to anyone in the area that doesn't want a large (purple) gym that is fairly limited on what you're allowed to do. Because he was swim team competitor, advanced for his age, the last summer he was there, she allowed him to participate in the Jr. Lifeguard classes with some older swimmers. She actually encouraged him to participate to give him the head start in learning lifeguarding skills and techniques. Gina and her staff were very professional and VERY nice. When I would call to enroll with her before the summer sessions, she would always patient in working with helping me weave a swim class into his busy little daily summer camp/activity schedule and appropriate for his skill level. The pricing was fair. The few times I was able to be in town and sit with the other parents and watch classes, Gina came out and spoke with me about my little ones progress, sharing her observations and making suggestions, as busy as she was. Yes, I can be "one of those" parents if things seem "suspect" regarding the children in my fold, but I never felt any kind of way with Gina, nor her staff. Highly recommended for youth swim. Okay...if you're reading this don't get your hopes up that you'll ever get to come here...this is a…read moreprivate lake owned by SWEPCO so you ain't getting on the property unless you're a SWEPCO employee or an invited guest of said employee... Very nice lake with 4 cabins...also there is motel like structure with 16 individual rooms with a conference/ball room in the center... There is a boat launch with covered boat parking that will handle 4 boats and a canoe... There are 3 private piers where you can tie off your boat if your staying in one of the 4 cabins... Each cabin has 2 bedrooms with a bunk bed in the living room area...covered and screened in patio on each cabin with a nice view of the lake...fire pits for hanging out, drinking and making s'mores etc... If staying here you have to bring your own provisions (food, utensils, cooking gear, bottled water, booze etc...) It's a great location and wonderful place to hang out with friends and just enjoy some peace and quiet...very relaxing but it's too bad you'll never get to experience it...
