I brought a first time patient to Heaton last week. I drove from Ft worth to take my disabled friend to Heaton which is another almost hour away. I had spoken with Jen before hand and explained that my friend could not use drops as he had a very allergic reaction to them that had put him in the emergency room before. She said if they could not examine him without drops she woud let us know before hand. We got there on time, filled out papers and then another women who worked there told him that they would not see him without using drops. That is very unethical. My friend has been blind for years with cataracts and we were so looking forward to him getting help. They should have let us know before driving all that distance. read more

Very disappointed in Heaton Eye. Patient beware. Heaton Eye Dr started billing me for a visit that they coded incorrectly to my insurance company and I sent in three different times, information to show where my insurance approved the visit however the eye dr billing did not code it correctly. Because they didn't want to correct it on the eye Dr side they decided to send my bill to their collections company to collect the amount because they didn't want to be bothered with fixing it and resubmitting it correctly. Poor patient service for sure. Will never use them again nor recommend them to anyone to use. Their billing dept even said at the end that they had been having issues with their billing and were trying to fix those issues and with the collections dept. . Well you lost a patient at the patients expense. I have never had anything go to a collections and for no reason or warning either. Poor customer service. Shame on Heaton Eye. The kicker was the other bill from my first apt. Was coded correctly and my insurance covered it just fine. The woman I spoke to this morning said yeah she saw that but still was fine taking my money instead of resolving their error on their end. Shameful at best........ read more

Wife and I both had our eyes examined and the Staff was extremely nice and professional. Dr. Hardin was very friendly, professional, and very efficient in his exam and recommendations. The facility was clean and comfortable. We did have to wait about 30 minutes from our appointment time to start the procedures. Other than that, I rate it a 5 star! read more

Dr Hardin and the staff are excellent. I have had cataract surgery in both eyes and YAG procedures a few years later. The doctor and staff are great, however the billing department is a hot mess. I paid $1000 up front for my last YAG procedure and never got a straight answer if they filed on both my employer insurance and Medicare. I then received a bill for $995. I am waiting to get an itemized statement before paying. A friend of mine had cataract surgery a few weeks ago. He received a refund check for overpayment. Two days later he received a bill, which he has not paid, and today he received another refund check. It certainly leaves a sense of dread to ever go back and having to navigate the charges and billing nightmare. read more

I took my father for an eye exam. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The visit was longer than I expected, but over all I think they did a good job. read more

This location is very nice and huge, and you (the patient) are paying for it. I thought the exam was very thorough but it took over an hour. You spend very little time with the actual dr. I should have asked prior to the appointment what their charges are, but I didn't. With insurance, I have never had to pay more than $25.00 at an eye dr. My total bill was $440.00!!! Even with insurance I still had to pay $168.00! I was going to get glasses there as well but the man who was working was quite snooty and I could tell their glasses prices would be outrageous. Worst care I've ever received!! All the employees are rude and have no customer service skills whatsoever. The optometrists were also rude and made me feel insignificant. I went for a normal eye exam and they told me my insurance was accepted there and I come to find out AFTER my exam that they actually don't take my insurance. Now I am stuck with a $400 eye exam bill. Worst experience of my ENTIRE life. I would rate them negative 5 stars if I could. read more

Never treated worse in my life. I had something in my eye. The receptionist was nice but the person who "interviewed" me in the first room treated me with disdain and no matter how hard I tried the person was clinical and at times rude. After getting passes that I was left in the exam room for 50 minutes before I got up and left. I drove two blocks to Dr. Robson at Optometric Associates and she got me right in removed the foreign object and charged me $10. I won't go back to Heaton........ read more

I called them several weeks ago to set up an appointment time with them, just so I could establish with a local optometrist. After setting up the appointment via phone, they mailed some medical paperwork to me to fill out before coming in, so that when I came in for the actual appointment I could just hand them the paperwork I already filled out, and bring a copy of my driver's license (or other photo ID) & my health insurance card. They also sent with the paperwork they mailed, a biographical sheet of the Dr I was to see. It was a nice way to get to know them. I liked that they had plenty of parking places, a nice waiting area with a TV (HGTV was on at the time), & they made good use of the small spaces of their rooms. There was a mirror on one wall, where I could read the TV monitor, which showed the mirror images so that I just had to read them normally. I thought that was neat, so they only needed half the space of a typical optometry exam room. It's nice to establish with this clinic as my new optometry home. read more
