My wife and I worked hard to clean our apartment and followed everything they said during the pre-move out inspection and they only returned $50 out of our entire $500 deposit due to "$250 carpet cleaning" and a $200 sewage bill that was way higher than any we received while there. Just let them clean it for you and don't go through all that work, you won't get your money back anyway.

I actually lived in three different apartments there, a one bedroom, and each of the two bedrooms (roommate situation) and Whitney made sure the transfers went smoothly. The property is beautiful and it's so close to everything but nestled back from main roads which is awesome. I loved having the gym and sauna access... tennis court and a sun bathing area. Ahhhhhhhhhhh I wish I could move back now! I highly recommend Somersett Hills to anyone and refer my friends there all the time. From what I've been told, there has been some remodeling going on since I left so I imagine the community is even better than before, although I wouldn't have changed a thing. Happiness in an apartment is hard to find. Sharing walls with neighbors is never easy but the residents here were very quiet, polite and respectful.

Most notably, cleaning up and modernizing the property. Jaylene H is the best on-site manager hazelwood has ever had. She is very friendly, professional & thorough. Office now has great communication and follow thru thanks to her and management. Brand new HVAC in all the units is a huge WIN. I can't describe how bad the aging old ones were. Even though former maintenance tech , Jaime was a pro and keeping them going. New dishwashers, new paint, new landscaping, new laundry machines, new patio fencing. Also new laminate hardwood floors & windows in unit. Huge PRO: problem tenants gone. Even the swimming pool spa and workout room are refreshed. It's like a whole new complex and great community. I talked to so many neighbors old and new who love living here. Nobody parks in your spot anymore, there's always an extra parking space if you need one. Very few cons living here. Any issues we had Jaylene and maintenance were ON TOP of. They replaced a faulty toilet no questions asked. There's cameras by the gates now and the busted lock box keypad was even replaced and they ditched the huge speed bump. Pro: cheap SMUD and brand new HVAC ac units work great! Even after we moved out in April, they were still remodeling and improving the property! The immediate neighborhood around hazelwood is a bit dodgy at night. But its nice having safeway winco 24hrs nearby. The post office and auto zone are right across the street along with little caesars and liquor store etc. i wouldnt recommend going into the dennys ross groc outlet parking lot at night but the homeless problem has greatly improved. They seemed to gravitate to winco or raleys area. CONS: Thin walls, old cabinets, lots of residents with dogs that pee/poop everywhere and a few pothead residents and smokers. Note: They were enforcing the pet waste and smoker issue when we moved out. And old cabinetry was due to be replaced. Overall 5 star community and awesome manager jaylene!

The only issue we ever had living there was the "Karen" downstairs complaining about everything and anything because her life was just that miserable I guess. Thankfully management handled everything professionally and with understanding instead of punishing us. They try to keep everyone's deposit no matter what... and I cleaned my unit they tried to charge for cleaning they tried to keep deposit and charge on top of it, and even charged utilities past the date they took possession like 2-3 weeks past that date. They've done a few questionable things like tell tenants to photograph people walking dogs.... Some tenants park 3-4 cars in guest parking and never get in trouble... and it's just ugggghh wow. So idk I stayed three years so two stars.. I liked the trees.. my car windows were never broken my car never stolen.. so "safe" for this area.. sidewalk is kinda an issue No safe way to actually walk out of complex to those stores because sidewalk doesn't exist in parts.... So a little stranded.... Walls thin, water pipes REALLY loud.. but my main issue was me being a great tenant paying early and over for three years. Cleaning up... etc. dealing with the mold etc... then them charging me and keeping deposit at move out. That's not how you treat good tenants. I would have easily recommended them even with issues if they'd just let me go on a good note. But no. I don't think they have a properly trained accountant at FPI or foxburough... idk what the deal is... housing laws say no mold. No appliances after life expectancy and this place doesn't follow those laws.. sometimes they'd fix things without trouble other times they'd push back way too hard I seriously had a smud bill in the $400s for a one bedroom one summer... for months I told foxburough there was a problem they needed to replace the AC or fix HVAC leak because that cost for a one bed is craaazy, I was told for months and months that I was the crazy one basically until I requested a smud meter audit repeatedly. When they techs replaced the AC appliance I was told it was over 30 years old. I was never reimbursed for the extra utility charges caused by FPI/foxburough negligence... I know a lot of apartments run this way.. it's not okay... but I've never stayed at an apt that had issues like this.. then kept my full deposit AND tried to charge me hundreds on top. It was almost comical the gaul... and they apparently do that to everyone good tenants bad tenants alike... why? When I moved in I did wonder why deposit was so "low" I think they think people won't fuss when they keep it without standing reasons at move out idk. I don't get it. I enjoyed living here, but it's definitely not an A+ , simple easy ways to be better and do better.

As a single mother I moved for the safety of my child and myself. I had to file restraining orders against multiple members of the management and family. So I could live in peace before I moved. If you are looking for a nice peaceful safe home I would look elsewhere.

As an African American woman, these interactions often came across as discriminatory and created an environment that felt uncomfortable and, at times, hostile. A home should be a place of peace and safety. Unfortunately, I did not consistently feel that here. Instead, I experienced stress, scrutiny, and a lack of support when concerns arose. Because of this, I would advise others--particularly Black American residents or individuals from underrepresented communities--to carefully consider whether this environment will feel safe and supportive for them.

It was a very family-oriented apartment.  I loved the grass field right by our place, which anyone can walk to with the bridge! There is a tiny creek that is full during winter. My apartment faced the sun, so I had lots of sun and a beautiful sunset view! Once, I had a package stolen, so I put up a ring camera, and the problem was solved. The apartment itself was old, but the office knew that. The ceiling in the living room was high, and the balcony was much longer than the usual balcony, which was excellent for storing bikes. I got a full refund on my deposit, which was unexpected, yet I am so grateful! This was my first apartment that actually refunded me! my only issue was when I first moved in the old secretary failed to mention to me the bottom tenants spoke. It filled up my bathroom, and she tried to explain that it should not affect me. It does. It is one building. Unfortunately, the tenant died, and the spouse moved away, but the smoke smell did clear up. The new secretary is fantastic and sweet. Enjoy the photos, I miss the sunset view!
