A few months after booking her, she shot our engagement photos in the South End where we live and we were OBSESSED with them. It wasn't at all pose-y or awkward like I thought it would be. She made us feel completely comfortable and embraced our awkward (and our pics look anything but awkward). Fast forward to our wedding this past July in Gloucester. The day started out perfectly sunny but quickly turned to black skies and rain. We went forward with out outdoor ceremony and I couldn't have been happier with how Katie handled the whole weather situation. She had been tracking the weather and we went outside for photos until right before it poured. The photos are gorgeous and dramatic and her calm demeanor and attitude made all the difference that day. She also always gave us our space on the day of and I never once felt like she was in our face taking photos. We knew our wedding photos were a priority for us when budgeting throughout wedding planning. Katie was easily the best decision we made. She was also always available for the entire year leading up to our wedding. She answered even the most non-photo related wedding questions for me and I cannot recommend her enough if you are looking for an unreal photographer!!

Her husband Jaildo came with her to assist and it was so great working with both of them, they are a great couple and gave us a good idea of how to pose for the photos. The best thing I like about Savannah is her personality, you can feel it right away - she is a warm and kind person, so we didn't feel the presence of a photographer around us but rather of a talented friend who delivered a fantastic service.

KatesEye Photography is Kate Russell Jones, whom I used for my wedding last June. She has many…read moreyears of experience as a professional photojournalist, but I think mine was only the third or fourth wedding she'd ever done. Pro: Kate is very eager to please. For example, the day after my wedding was Father's Day. So at my request, Kate edited and printed a photo of Dad and me going down the aisle, glued it to a card, and hand-delivered it the morning after. She did not charge for this. Pro and Con: Kate is very open to suggestion. This made working with her easy and fun. However, I think a more experienced wedding photographer would say, "I know you don't think you need a shot of the wedding party, but you six stand here and smile anyway. Trust me, you'll want it for your album." Pro: Great candid shots of almost every guest! Kate knows how to take advantage of the moment and its lighting. Con: The large group formal portraits did not turn out well. The main problem was that someone's head would cover half the face behind it. A more experienced wedding photographer would've said, "Move your head to the left." However, doing the group formals on the staircase was my bright idea -- it looks awesome in three dimensions, but there's no natural light and you can only shoot from an unflattering angle. Pro: The less formal (but still not candid) group shots of guests were spectacular. I sent everyone a 4x6 of themselves with their thank-you notes, and I would not be surprised if a few ended up in frames above the fireplace. Pro: Because she is less experienced with weddings, Kate charges half as much as other professional wedding photographers in the Boston area. While I imagine the price will rise after she does more weddings, I was able to hire her for less than a thousand dollars. Overall, I am very satisfied with this photographer.

What my husband and I loved most about Kate's photographs was how she managed to beautifully capture the spirit and energy of our ceremony and reception. Kate has a photojournalist background and does an excellent job creating natural candids documenting the wedding as in unfolds (though she does take the formal posed photos too, if that's what you want). The reception went by so fast, so it was awesome to be able to go through Kate's pictures after and relive those special, little moments we had forgotten. She also does a great job of taking advantage of the setting and natural lighting and focusing on small details other might miss to create unusual, inspired shots, while remaining completely professional and unobtrusive. I highly recommend Kate to anyone who wants natural, photojournalist-style photographs. Full Disclosure: I have been friends with Kate for about six years. I had seen Kate's work on her website and at her non-wedding photo exhibitions, so I immediately thought of her when I was planning my wedding. I knew having a friend photograph the wedding could put a strain on the friendship if the photos were in any way disappointing, but because of my trust in Kate and confidence in her talent and work, I never had a second thought about having Kate do the photography. And I couldn't be happier with the results!

I get lots of pictures taken of me, and in almost all of them, I feel awkward, and it shows. This is especially painful when taking 'out and about' pictures with really attractive women, who are used to showcasing their pics on the internet - you definitely don't want them to feel that they're doing a favor by posting it - make your friends look good. In any case, Zahar spent over an hour and a half with me, taking around 100 photos to help me get comfortable and teach me how to pose and take good pictures. This resulted in a few fantastic, professional photos that I have since posted on many social networks, including personal and business ones, and have been lauded several times for. We got to know them when they did our "Love Shoot" which they offered for free with our package. It was a great way to get to know them so we felt comfortable on the big day. James and Kate are high school sweethearts who are SO much fun to be around. We had a blast with them for the few hours we were shooting around the city. The pics from the love shoot turned out SO amazing - and mind you I was SICK that day so if you can make me look GOOD when I'm really feeling TERRIBLE then you get double props from me - but the pics were so amazing that I couldn't wait for our wedding day and to see the pictures from the wedding day. I knew they would do an AWESOME job of capturing everything for me - which is saying something because I'm photo-addicted. I think i took like 2000 pictures during our honeymoon - MAYBE more! So I'm big on pictures. I haven't seen my proofs yet (but they will be ready soon!!), but here's something I've never seen done before and I LOVED IT. The Feds did some quick edits from before the reception (getting ready, bridal party pics, etc) and had them on a slide show during the reception. Every picture I saw on the slide show was amazing. I'm not kidding you - I stood there and each one that came up I was like OMG I love that one! Every. Single. Time. I can't recommend them enough. They are fantastic.

We had no clue what to look for, but a stack of contacts from Newbury Street that was given by friends of ours. We wanted contemporary work; our parents wanted the normal family shots. We wanted art; our parents wanted conservative shots. With The Feds you will get the best of each world. We were astonished how many different aspects they caught of our wedding. There wasnt anyone that didnt say "wow", "amazing", "astonishing", "unreal", "who did your pictures?", "that should be in a magazine". And that was only for some of our highlight pictures! We just cant wait to show them the other 600+! Lets start from the beginning: Part of the package that they do is called a "love shoot". They will travel wherever you would like around the area and take pre wedding engagement pictures. Dont waste your time trying to say you dont need it, because that in itself was worth the investment. We cant tell you how much fun we had getting to know them! We are not people that enjoy having our pictures taken either, and we were nervous before the shoot. James and Kate changed that within seconds of showing up. 100 pictures later (which takes about 10 minutes by the way that they shoot; think Hollywood red carpet...)and we were laughing together and smiling like we had known them since we were kids. We must have been shooting for 4 hours and now have the best pre wedding pictures a couple could ask for. An amazing experience... more on this later in review... But it doesnt end there... We didnt know what to expect when they showed up the day of the wedding. But when we say professional, we mean professional. Both dressed in black, and both decked out like Rambo with camera gear. They were covering every angle, view, and person while being invisible, yet interactive during the ceremony. When we arrived to the reception they immediately kicked into family and bridal party picture mode. We thought it might take an hour just to bang through all the normal pics, but The Feds orchestrated each picture like Holtz's Planets and we were on to bride and groom pictures in no time. Ahh yes, now comes the fun. Next thing we know Kate is driving a golf cart with James holding on for dear life snapping shots as we drove down the 18th fairway at Worcester Country Club. Kate was always looking around for a new location, a different angle, or taking shots, while James was lying in tall grass or balancing between rocks and a pond just to get another perspective. It was so much fun, and a great break from the chaos of the wedding. Now if I didnt convince you that the love shoot was already an amazing part of The Feds experience; this should do it. At the reception they printed out hundreds of copies of the best love shoot pictures for people to take home with them from the reception. Think of it as another favor for your guests! As the Guinness commercials say... BRILLIANT! The Feds surprises don?t end there either. During their break, they reviewed some of the best shots of Tara getting ready and the ceremony. They then put a slide show out on an Apple Ibook with a signup sheet for family and guests to be notified when the pictures were ready to be purchased online. We had a fantastic band which drew quite a crowd, but that laptop drew an impressive crowd as well! Even when it was time to cut the cake; We had no clue what we were doing. But James and Kate guided us through the process like Cliff Notes. We dont know what we would have done without them there. Oh, did we mention that Kate was 7 months pregnant at the time and on her feet for 11 hours? She was AMAZING for what she had to carry around all day! If you are not sold after reading this review you already made a mistake. Stop wasting time looking for a photographer and just contact The Feds. This will be the best investment you have ever made for your special day. Not only were we blown away by their work, professionalism, and personalities; but being able to relive our wedding day over and over for years to come. They bring true meaning to "a picture can say a thousand words". And after 800+ or so pictures... Thats a lot of words.
