Joy does NOT have the ability to do your work for you and lastly Joy does NOT by any means sell herself short on the services that she provides. Joy, you are an absolute god send. Seriously.... I have been thru various counseling all of my life but that didn't resolve my issues nor did it really give me the tools needed to actually resolve them. So since I had tried that previously and pretty much got the same result, I knew I had to try something different. So, what did I do? I went to my trusty yelp and reached out and received several responses. I had a few phone interviews because I needed to find the right person to help me thru some heavy stuff. I liked Joy right off the bat. You can simply tell by the tone in her voice that she is an angel. I signed up for 6 sessions with Joy...and after my 6th session, I signed up for 6 more. And I threw Joy some crazy challenges (nothing in my life has EVER been easy)....there were issues that she flat out told me she couldn't do anything about (I appreciate the honestly more than you know) and there were some issues where I really feel like I challenged her but guess what? SHE NEVER GAVE UP ON ME. SHE NEVER TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T WITHOUT AN EXPLANATION (again she doesn't have a magic wand). Instead what I received was far far greater than any gift...Joy gave me the tools I needed to see where my deficiencies came from and also gave me some positive insight as to how to fix the behaviors and this is something I now work on EVERY SINGLE DAY and it's made me a better person. So if you feel like you are stuck, and don't know where to go, and you have tried traditional methods (and they haven't really worked) I would seriously urge you to give Joy a call...set up and appointment and more importantly work on your (O&*%(Q*&)%(. From the very first time I stepped into her office in late 2014 to this very day I felt comfortable; as comfortable as any one person could be, discussing the circumstances I had needed to talk about with a neutral 3rd party for some time. I also felt that I could trust her which I still do. I feel it's important to note that Lori does a range of therapeutic methods within her Roseville office one of which is EMDR (Eye movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing). This is not an easy type of training to locate and for anyone who may be suffering and living with PTSD and has locked so much away within their conscious and subconscious mind and cellular tissues, EMDR has the ability to tap into it. It takes time just like any other form of therapy but I felt that since I had a hard time locating a provider of it I wanted to put this out there to pay it forward. I've thought about writing a review on my greater than 1 year experiences with seeing Lori for some time but to the sensitive nature of the "why" anyone would seek out the help of a "mental health" professional I decided that if this review helps another seeking a female therapist who has been trustworthy, provided a safe place for me to work out and thru some issues and who has always been kind and compassionate yet firm in her actions and speech then its worth putting myself out there. She has helped me immensely. There are several mental health providers and therapists which practice within this same East Roseville office. Psychiatry as well as therapists which makes seeing multiple doctors and the like more convenient. There is a restroom which is public use and located in the outdoor corridor and requires a key to access which only adds to the sense of security and safety of the area. Her appointments have always booked up quickly so don't be surprised if you have to wait a month or two to get your new patient appointment but you're emailed your intake packet in advance and fill it out electronically if you like sending it back to her prior to your appt. Return visits can be booked in advance at the end of your visits which ensures you can receive your therapy as often as need be. Lori books her own appointments and does her own insurance billing which for me has worked out well as I don't have to deal with another stranger for these things. There is a cancellation fee if you don't cancel an appt. within 24 hours but that's all disclosed within your registration packet.
