A bit disappointing. The settlement I received was ok and all the people were friendly, but it came…read moreat a price. I didn't feel as if i were a priority to them - which considering what they earned for so few hours and such little negotiation imo - was surprising. I was in an accident where a car hit me as I was walking on the sidewalk. Open and shut case. Even though the perpetrator had no insurance, I had uninsured motorist so it was simply a matter of collecting from my insurance company. Imo, there was very little or no negotiating. My real complaint is that I wasn't kept informed of anything. I would have to call Melanokos every few weeks to find out what was going on (after several months elapsed first). Then they would take action and typically say, "Oh, we have to file so and so at a different place." They didn't know. This happened 3x. I never even knew the case was settled until I got a letter in the mail from my insurance company. No excuse for that. And then 3 months later I received my settlement. Also, when you sign with a firm, make sure the percentage they take is only from what YOU GET...As an example, if you agree to pay the firm 35% and your settlement is 200k dollars, make sure their 35% commission is from what you RECEIVE, because if you owe say, Medicare, the law firm might have to pay Medicare 25k (or whatever) before the law firm gives you your money. So it's 175k you get, and then they take out their 35%, but they take 35% of 200K and not the 175k lol. Why? I never would've signed up for that if i knew. I'm paying Medicare the money, and then the law firm is taking 35% of my TOTAL settlement (i.e. 200k)? So I'm paying 135% of what i owe Medicare? How ridiculous. I probably ended up with a bit more using Melanokos than if i did it myself, but not worth the aggravation, "extra" payment, and basically no communication from them - unless it was initiated by me. Not for me.

I was in a really terrible car accident and this law firm provided the best care possible in order…read morefor me to recover physically and financially after such a traumatic experience. I can truly say that Michael Melonakos is extremely thorough, consistent, and determined to provide the best financial outcome for his clients. I moved to CA and my husband was in SC but was supposed to moveas well. Obviously life happened…read moreand excuse after excuse developed for him not to move. My husband requested a divorce and I later found out he had been having an affair for two years. Due to the distance and the affair I wanted a quick and easy solution. With no kids involved my husband and I agreed to an amicable divorce. The husband wanted to file the papers ourselves but I refused due to the chance of something going wrong and potentially finding out later I was still married. Being in CA complicated matters but after some research I found Brian! Brian was the upmost professional and was understanding and gracious. He was helpful at every turn and honest. This was supposed to be a quick divorce that only took 3-6 months but my husband would not get his part done quickly and the divorce took nearly a year. Brian was patient and understanding and continued to work with us. Brian is fabulous. He is quick to respond and answer questions. He is honest and forthcoming with his thoughts. His para-legal, Marla, is fantastic as well. She was quick to respond via email and text. During the week of the divorce there was a paper that needed to get done quickly and she talked me through the process and calmed me down during a very stressful time at work. You will not go wrong using Brian as your attorney! I feel lucky and blessed to have found him, you will be as well!

I am on disability and my financial situation dictated that I find someone willing to work with me on that front. My wife and I met with Brian and were impressed with him. He is very friendly with an easy manner. He has a way of taking tense and intimidating situations and deflating them, making those situations much more comfortable and easier to handle. He is great at helping you stay centered when everything around you seems to have gone haywire. For us, he was a steadying presence in the most chaotic and disruptive situation of our lives. My case was a very contentious and difficult one. Brian worked long and hard for me and always got back to me when I had concerns or questions. My wife and I were in a place where every new development felt like an emergency, so there were a lot of times when we would get a little more worked up than was appropriate, but Brian was very patient with us and helped move us from a panicked state to a much calmer place. One of Brian's strengths is his ability to make legal processes and documents understandable for the layman. Obviously, dealing with a legal situation can be very confusing, but I was always able to understand clearly what we were dealing with after Brian had explained things to me. Needless to say, it was very comforting to know that I wasn't going to be left in the dark and confused by legal terminology and procedure. Brian represented me very ably in the court room. He seemed very comfortable and confident in that environment, and did his best to minimize the amount of pressure I felt. I was particularly struck by the feeling that he was fighting hard to protect me and my interests. I feel like Brian is the kind of lawyer that will fight for his clients, because I saw him fighting for me. When the process was over, I ended up in a better place than where I started concerning my custody situation. I have more time with my son than I did before all of this, and I have Brian to thank for that. His hard work and dedication to my case yielded positive results, and believe me when I say that he went far beyond his responsibilities to help me. Considering my financial limitations, I did not think it would be possible to find anyone as capable and engaged as Brian was. He did what most lawyers would not. He put helping a client in need over immediate financial concerns. With all that said, I personally feel like Brian is genuinely a good person. My situation was a difficult and frustrating one, and because of my disability, I can be a difficult person to deal with. The fact that Brian stuck by me with care and understanding through what had to be a frustrating case for him is something I will always be grateful for. If you want a lawyer that will represent you capably and who will always do right by you, then I cannot recommend Brian Johnson enough.
