Visited with my mom and aunties for a birthday celebration. We were in on a Tuesday for early dinner - one of two tables seated at the time. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable, and not afraid to make a recommendation (always extra points for that). I ended up with the crab cake appetizer and shrimp & grits main course. Both absolutely superb! Unfortunately, the rest of the gang wasn't as thrilled as I was with their meals. I can chalk that up to both perceived value for the dollar, as well as (perhaps) their entrees not being what they expected. Still a solid 4 stars, even with the complaining aunties. Maybe next time I'll go solo and see what I think. read more

We stopped by for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised by menu that was very appealing. There is clearly a very engaged chef in the kitchen who takes great pride in the offerings. Our party had a range of things.....salads, soup, sandwiches, salmon, and even a side of collard greens. Mind you that we rated the greens AAA+ because the chef really has to know how to prepare. The grill cheese sandwich was superbly prepared and included sliced apples and toasted almonds......definitely a sophisticated grilled cheese for an adult palate. If this lunch was a preview of what dinner has to offer I can't wait to return to Peoria. The staff could not have been more attentive and we appreciate the fact that they went out of their way to accommodate us even though they were about to end lunch service to prepare for dinner. read more

I've been here three times and the food has been good but this visit left a very bad taste in my mouth and will probably not return based on this experience. We were celebrating my wife's birthday with a party of 12. After dinner, we had began to cut a cake that we brought in to celebrate the moment. The waitress stated: I don't know if y'all know it or not there is a cake cutting fee! We were all charged an extra dollar on our bills rather we ate cake or not. I completely understand if they did not want us to bring the cake in but the waitress saw the cake when she initially took our order and didn't mention anything about the cake cutting fee!‍ if that was the policy, she should have stated this at the beginning of the order and avoided making this celebratory moment an unpleasant dining experience for my wife. read more

This is my absolute favorite place. They always make you feel like you are the only patrons in the restaurant. Tonight I had the filet and my husband had the New York strip. Great place! Busy atmosphere on a Wednesday night. They did great with accommodating gluten and dairy for one guest. Many of the items on the menu are already gluten free including the duck which was very good. I really enjoyed the scallops. My food could have been hotter including to tomato soup which was just ok, wouldn't get it again. The cheddar biscuit was good. Serving were on the smaller side. read more

Superb whiskey selection - I don't think there is a better one in the Peoria area. Cozy décor, with a beautiful bar. Great place to quietly sample and enjoy a wide range of whiskeys. Careful, though - some of those whiskies are quite rare and pricey! The food is equally wonderful. The shrimp and grits was sublime, and the jumbo sea scallops are possibly the best scallops I've had. While I've not had it, my wife raves about the apricot and brie stuffed chicken breast. The owners and staff are amazing!! As is the food :). My daughter and I visited Hearth without reservations on a Sat evening, which of course, they were booked. With the high ratings that I'd give it try to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Well we were underwhelmed! Reservation system on line depends on owners phone and it being in town? Got beyond that after a follow up phone call asking why no reply to resv request. The server was not very sympatico. Long lapses when he was no around. Food was OK except the salmon which was perfect. Don't get the high ratings. No comment te anniversary. Just got off a two week cruise with real service. Now we know don't trust ratings read more

If you are looking for a nice sit down restaurant where the quality of food, spirits, and atmosphere is appreciated, this is the place to go. You truly feel relaxed and at home. While I have never dined here, We have stopped several times at the bar for a good drink. This is a great place to sip on a bourbon from their extensive, impressive menu , or you can have the bartender mix you a simple Old Fashioned. It is a nice atmospheric spot to relax. Hearth is just the best. The owner is always there, and is just the nicest man. Makes me really happy that the food and people are wonderful so I can support such a great local business! The food is terrific. Stand outs for me are the scallops (which are a new menu item I think), the crab cakes, and the grits and mushrooms with wilted greens. Also, don't skip the salad here. They have a smoky bleu cheese dressing that I could eat by the spoon full. They also have a really nice wine list, and a fantastic whiskey list. They do scotch and whiskey flights, and have a flight club where you can earn rewards for drinking whiskey. YUP. Just go here. You won't be disappointed. read more

We stopped for lunch on a Saturday. Nice variety on the lunch menu. I had the chicken Cesar sandwich with sweet potato fries. The bun was exceptional! Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Fries were awesome with a light balsamic drizzle. My hubby had the catfish sandwich. He liked it. We got the key lime pie for dessert which was good. Our bill for 2 entrees, one beer and dessert was $37. We will go back. read more

There are so many restaurants in the heights, it was hard to choose one for my b-day, but decided on Hearth when I spotted shrimp and grits on the menu. Had the shrimp with a salad; husband had pork chop dinner and chilled carrot soup. Everything was good, solid comfort food. I think plates might have been licked at one point. We didn't get dessert since a cake was waiting for us at home. The bill was about $100 for soup/salad, two mains, and three drinks from the bar. Not bad! Ambiance was fine- nothing crazy. It definitely has a warm, home-y feel. It was pretty dead but we went out early on a Wednesday, so hopefully they are having busier weekends. I'm always nervous about developing a favorite, and then it going our of business. **Just saw a poor review of the smoked grapes (found in the salad)- I really enjoyed them! Love the overall vibe in the heights and this restaurant is no exception. The local feel is warm and welcoming and the menu is delicious, but sets a different tone then those around it. Hearth has more fusion with southern cooking and stands out among the rest! I live in California now, but whenever I make it back, I'll be sure to visit Hearth! read more

Went to Hearth for lunch - very pleasantly surprised! Interior has been completely remodeled and tastefully decorated with a lot of great finishing touches. Local art and photography was a nice addition - The owner has put a lot of time and thought into the decor and it showed. The two other people I was with had the salad with chicken breast on top - simple but well done. I had the grown up grilled cheese and thought the flavors were excellent- the balsamic sweet potato fries are not to be missed! We didn't have drinks, but the wine list was impressive and they rotate out new wines as they get them. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. brought us the dinner menu to look over when we mentioned coming back for dinner sometime. They buy local produce, which i liked. Loved this place. From out of town and we found this place on yelp. Always appreciate a farm to table restaurant. (Went for lunch) My bf ordered the cat fish po boy and he loved it! Said seasoning was perfect and didn't have the over fishy taste. (4 other ppl while we were there ordered cat fish po boy also.) I had the veggie Burger. Which they hand make In house. LOVED IT. Made with black bean and quinoa and mushrooms with avocado and tomato and onion to top it. We met the owner Hugh and he was so nice and talked to us about the place and the menu. He said veggie meatloaf at night is similar to veggie burger and said he has worked through many different recipes before they found the perfect match and I would agree a GREAT Veggie burger. I don't eat meat so always a treat when you find good vegetarian options! read more

This was the first restaurant my friend and I had dined in for quite a while due to covid, and we were super impressed by everything. They clearly are taking great strides to operate safely, as we were distanced well from the other tables. Our food and drinks were DELICIOUS (I got the swordfish special- highly recommended), and we even got dessert. (The chai spice creme brûlée was fantastic.) Every staff member was pleasant and great to talk to. My only regret is that I don't live closer to come here more often! read more

My friend and I happened onto this place when most of the other restaurants in the Heights weren't open for lunch. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at a nice high-top table outside of the old Noir. All was perfect. Then I wanted to take another friend to lunch for her birthday. I called ahead and requested the very same table. We got there right on time, to find the owner/manager giving away the last high-top table in the location I'd asked for. The poor waitress seemed mortified, as she was told by the owner/manager WHO he'd just seated! After quite a long wait to figure out what had happened, she came out and apologized, explaining that "the same table was also requested by someone else with my last name for the same time." We settled for another table and the owner/manager seemed to avoid us as he was filling water glasses. Otherwise, the food and service by our waitress was very good. read more

Had always wanted to try French Toast, sadly it closed before we could. However, Hearth was a silver lining to that smokey cloud of a kitchen fire. We ate in the bar area, as the restaurant seating was all reserved (make reservations early). Nevertheless, the bartender and waitress gave us excellent service. The owner checked in a couple of times to see if we needed anything. The drinks were good (absolutely dirty- a take on a dirty martini, and a straight up manhattan), as was the food. This is a great restaurant that will hopefully remain another stop on the Peoria Heights dining strip. read more

My wife and I had dinner at Hearth. I very much liked the table for 2 we sat at. We got to sit facing each other, and the table is longer than it is wide, so we were close to each other and there was still more than enough room at the table. It felt intimate. A pleasant change from sitting corner-to-corner at a table for 4. Moreover, the tables are far enough apart so you don't hear the conversations at other tables. A welcome change from some other restaurants. I was motivated to write a review about of this nice seating experience, but I certainly don't mean it to take anything away for the food, which was also quite good. The potatoes were memorable (but I've forgotten their name :). We will definitely be back soon. read more

I can't say I would recommend The Hearth in Peoria Heights. The service and food are definitely inconsistent and there are many other really terrific restaurants in the area to choose from. On multiple occasions I received the wrong food item and the food was lukewarm. I also find the atmosphere in the dining room unappealing and impersonal. I rarely leave poor reviews, but this establishment would be one of the last on my list. I do appreciate the outside decor during the seasons. read more

Did not enjoy our time there this evening. We had reservations at 5 for outside. It was 86 and the sun was hot. We were sat at the farthest table from the door in full sun. It was a huge table for 6. All other outside tables were available but when I asked for more shade they said they were "reserved". We were the only ones sitting outside for our entire dinner. It was miserable and hot. I would advise you should ask for shade and a table for 4. I was also told when I made reservations that we had to be gone by 6:30. No problem there, couldn't wait to leave.
