I also love this league so much because I get to see these cool gyms sprinkled throughout NYC that you would otherwise have no idea existed. This one is in the basement and others have been on upper floors, but some of these elementary/middle schools are BALLIN. Like DAMN, these gyms be nice af! I know what you must be wondering, but no, we didn't win. I had an open look from half court to win the game, and it just barely hit rim. It was one of those where it felt great leaving my hand too. The entire staff was so warm and welcoming from day one. The school building itself is beautiful, clean, and well-kept. The teachers and staff are caring, supportive, and skilled. The home-school communication is absolutely top notch. I always know my son's progress and am informed about all of the events that go on. It seems like there is always something fun going on at St. Kevin's, including the walk-a-thon, monster bash, trunk or treat, family movie nights, marching in the Christmas parade, and the Christmas Carol sing along...the list goes on and on! There are so many opportunities for families to be involved in the school community and for children to bond with their peers. There are also a variety of sports and other extracurricular activities for students to get involved in. Yes, academics are important and the school is very strong in that regard, but St. Kevin's recognizes that school is supposed to be an experience and that they are educating the whole child. The new principal is exceptional. She empowers teachers, families, and students and is truly interested in hearing everyone's voice and promotes a clear vision for the school. She really values feedback and is an intentional, focused, and dedicated leader. I didn't set out to write a novel with this review, but it is difficult to keep it succinct because St. Kevin's truly is a wonderful school with too many wonderful qualities to list. If you are thinking of sending your child here, please do. You will not regret it. At St. Kevin's your child is seen as a unique and growing individual, not just a state test score.

More importantly, the values they formed while there and still carry today are heartwarming. I see that same sense of values forming in my children now. Many parents are involved in the school, in a good way, volunteering and chairing for fundraisers. They have a new science lab which my kids are excited to use and each kid gets their own chromebook to use. The teachers I've interacted with are very friendly and keep you up to date on your kids using the classdojo app. The art, music and spanish classes are great as well. They also have an after-school program for when you can't pick up the kids on time or if you are a working parent. Early drop off is available as well. I can't say enough good things about the school.

Showed up 15 minutes early and didn't have to wait long to speak with a counselor. Being unfamiliar with the system I was a bit anxious fearing it may have stringent or unreasonable requirements or something trivial that I missed may somehow disqualified my daughter's enrollment. I sat there close to 40 minutes with Kenny, the counselor. He was easy going, approachable and patient. Didn't try to rush things, Which is important because I don't write all my questions down before hand, being patient puts me at ease and gives me time to retrieve all the questions in which I had a lot. I walked away understanding the process, requirements, time frame, the options available, where to go for further research. What I appreciate most is him understanding my question despite its awkwardly phrased. I now know what my next step is. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you
