If I could give 0 star, I will, because I almost lost my beloved 5.5 yr old daughter forever.
My daughter went to the weekly summer camp at this studio this Monday 8/16. It was her first class at this studio. I dropped her off to class and went home. my husband arrived 9 minutes late at the studio to pick her up. When he arrived, the teacher told him someone had already picked up my daughter. They found everywhere in the studio and could not find her. My husband called 911 right away. When he found a police, the studio teacher told my husband and the police that some old lady called my daughter's name and picked her up. So they thought that the old lady was her grandma and let her pick up my daughter. The police had other police officers drive around and look for my daughter.
Around 20 minutes went by, a couple with their child who were walking on street found my daughter crying and walking by herself. They stopped her and asked her questions. But my daughter could only answer simple questions. They saw her wearing ballet shoes, so they guessed she was from some dancing studio nearby. They called around studios nearby and finally called the studio that my daughter went. They walked her back to studio where my husband was waiting. After my daughter came home, I asked her if an old lady or anyone picked her up from the studio, she said no one called her name or picked her up. She waited for us for a while and didn't see us so she just walked away by herself, because she wanted to go home and she thought she knew where home was. The dancing studio director contacted me afterwards explaining they confused my daughter with another Asian girl. And my daughter walked away by herself when teachers were talking to other parents. So they did not verify parents before letting my daughter go, and my daughter just walked away from studio to street by herself. I have sent my daughter to different dancing studio, summer camp and other classes before, this had never happened to us before. All other places that we went have very organized pick up policy to make sure all kids are not dismissed without parents. To me, this place is extremely disorganized!!! My husband and I and our daughter were traumatized for that half an hour. My daughter was crying and shaking after she got home from the studio, and she couldn't stop until I gave her ice cream to calm her down. I couldn't sleep well since that happened. The director contacted me afterwards saying apology but she said that she contacted a school psychologist who told her this was not neuro typical behavior of a 5.5 yr old. My daughter has no psychologist problem! I could not believe that happened to us, and I couldn't believe they said that about my girl after all this happened to us!!! It was truly a nightmare!!! read more
