I made an appointment and Matt spent over an hour of his own time working with me and adjusting my hearing aides. He scheduled two more appointments to insure they were working correctly. These were done on his own time. This is great service! The friend of mine that originally went in says that the hearing aides he got from Matt changed his life and the service he received from both Matt and his office staff was top notch. My hearing aids had failed as I had dove into my pool one too many times with them still in my ears. :) I had a new hearing test done and brought the test results and the hearing aids to Dr. Dethloff. He and his whole staff were friendly, helpful and top notch professionals. Dr. Dethloff re-programmed the hearing aids and they work perfectly. Highly recommended and if I ever need an audiologist again, Emerald Coast Audiology is who I'll turn to.

The exam consisted of the automated machine (that they use on babies) which seemed to do a thorough job, as well as a short in-booth "beep" session, bone conductivity test as I requested, and the Dr. reading words while I was in a booth for me to repeat back. In the end, the Dr. summarized the findings saying I had a __% hearing loss overall and that hearing aids would most likely help. My hearing loss was of an unusual pattern, and I was super disappointed that a generalized ___% hearing loss was all that Dr. Gray had to say. I wanted to know how my specific ranges tested, and how that impacted my ability to hear conversation, etc.. Overall, I expected more to be explained to me in regards to the findings. Much more. I tried to engage an intelligent conversation about the findings, but Dr. just didn't seem to be engaged. Dr. was nice, but seemed to lack any kind of enthusiasm or passion for the profession. He told me he couldn't do a hearing aid consult today because he had clinic (though I had told the receptionist at time of scheduling that I wanted a hearing aid consult as well as the testing) and to schedule for that. A 30 day hearing aid trial costs $100 if you choose not to purchase. I paid $81 cash rate for todays consult. I am choosing to see another audiologist, as I would like for my provider to show some (much more) enthusiasm, and explain and discuss my particular findings in much more detail and how it relates to the dysfunction of my day to day hearing.

This is my first time having a hearing evaluation. Ramon-"Hearing-Aid-Specialist" provided the…read moreevaluation to include otoscopy, audiometry consisting of air & bone conduction testing. He provided various tone and threshold test to generate an audio gram. After the evaluation it was determined that I would benefit from hearing aids for mild to moderate hearing loss for upper frequencies. He discussed the various hearing aids, and fitted me with a Starkey hearing aid for a 7 day free trial. I had to admit I was sticker shocked at the expense of the hearing aids, and the owner explained the reason for the cost and that he provides a bundled package that includes adjustments as needed, cleaning/repair as needed, etc. I was impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the hearing aid center. Because I am still evaluating other options, I asked about obtaining a copy of the audiogram for a second opinion, and was told by the owner that he would only give me a copy if I made a purchase of the hearing aids. I can't complain, because his services were free, so I paid for an audio-gram by different audiologist who did not have a conflict of interest in selling hearing aids. To my surprise the audio-gram concurred with the Hearing center recommendation, but I was not 100% sure because I did not have a copy of the hearing center audio-gram. I would have rated them 5 stars out of 5, but will have to give them 4 stars do to the lack of an audio-gram. Since then I have visited two other hearing specialist who were surprised that the hearing center did not provide a copy of the audio-gram.

Hearing loss affects not just the person suffering from the hearing loss, but their family, friends, and co-workers also! The testing was thorough and the results were explained in a way that was easily understood by someone without a medical background. My husband drove me to the ER, but I was getting sick so violently I couldn't get out of the care. ER personnel came out to our car with a wheelchair, waiting patiently in the warm sun till the spasms were over. From the moment I was wheeled in, everything was handled calmly and orderly and kindly. It was a weekday morning so it wasn't really busy and I was seen in just a few minutes. I was wheeled back to the ER where the real work began. Now, I'm in pain and there are things that have to be done before they can deal with the pain. I was patient through that. I understand. And what they had to do...take blood, set up an IV, hook me up to monitors, etc was conducted with efficiency and gentle care. Then came the pain meds. One had to be "pushed" through my IV. Having gone to nursing school (but not graduating), pushing a med via an IV is an important skill and my ER had it! She explained all that would happen as the drug entered my body. She kept reinforcing her explanation as the drug began to take effect. I appreciated that! A second pain med had to be administered and by the time I was rolled to get a CT scan, I was feeling much better. The PA in the ER knew exactly what to, popped in frequently to check on me and practically held my hand as the stone passed. The facility was SPOTLESS. All the staff were calm and kind and seemed to really like being in the medical field, helping people. I usually have more questions than the average patient, and each person I came in contact with STOPPED and took time to answer all my questions. You don't want to have a medical emergency when you're on vacation. But I am truly thankful that Ascension Sacred Heart was close by for my needs. Great place. Great people.

Nurse and doc tried to tell me I have high blood pressure and threw me on an EKG machine... I guess to make it look like they actually did something since he wouldn't write me a prescription for the anxiety meds I am already prescribed. News flash my blood pressure is fine... probably was the whole time. Was fine when Went by Publix and checked it right after I left their office. Don't ever go here if you have ever taken Suboxone and expect to be treated with any kind of dignity or expect them to write you a prescription of anything that's gonna help your problem. I got anxiety doc! I'm not f'ing depressed. Don't want SSRI's. And I don't need to talk to a rehab doctor. Only reason I went here is that the people taking appointments over the phone told me, "yes of course Dr. Halloman can write you a prescription for the med you are currently taking." If I could say overall the experience was an expensive waste of time. To hell with this place. They don't deserve a half star. 11-17-25
