If I had known this in advance I would never have wasted my money or time. While looking at frames one of the employees was adjusting another customer s glasses and she never could get them fitted right. He told her they were still hurting his nose and ears and he would have to go somewhere else to get them fixed right. The girl wasn t much help to us while we were trying to find a frame either. We didn t find anything that we liked so we asked to get a copy of her prescription to take with us. Having her glasses made at the mall is much quicker & easier (not to mention half the price) since my daughter is at school now and will only be home on the weekends. Dr. Kramer is not open on the weekends to adjust or repair her glasses. We discussed soft contacts for my daughter but did not pursue them. The girl did not seem too educated about the lenses. The number of visits required and the cost was high also. They were upset that we wanted to eventually get the contacts over the internet instead of their office. Dr. Kramer charges more for the contacts. I called 1-800-contacts and they verified that their contacts are made at the exact same place private doctors purchase their contacts. His office staff really helped explain what the differences were between the different frames and lenses they could use to fill my prescription. For the most part I can work out the differences in the frames myself but the lens side of things I find very confusing. I don't have vision insurance but the staff worked with me to find the best performance for my budget. By the way the new office is really nice, and there are many more frames on display than when they were on Broadway. Dr. Nick overall is a decent dentist - not the worst, not the best. At the end of the day, this office does the bare minimum and it is up to you to find out what your insurance will cover before your visit, as they will not take any responsibility for providing you with accurate information. My wife and I had been going to Dr. Nick for several years and recently transferred our kids to his office from their pediatric dentist. I brought them in for their first appointment, and was told their x-rays would not be fully covered by our insurance. I didn't check with their previous dentist or our insurance company before this appointment (falsely assumed Dr. Nick's office would help with this), and could not remember when the last time they had x-rays taken. I told them to go ahead with the new patient x-rays with the understanding they had checked with our insurance company and it would cost us around $70 per kid out of pocket. At the end of the appointment, I was surprised to find I owed over $300 out of pocket for the x-rays and other procedures, but I figured this was probably more of an insurance company issue, and kicked myself for not contacting their previous dentist to have their records sent over. About a week later, we received a bill saying we owed Dr. Nick another $200. I called the office and was told our insurance company didn't cover everything from our last visit, even though I was of the understanding the office staff had given me accurate information on my out-of-pocket x-ray expenses. I expressed my frustration with being essentially charged over $500 for 3 teeth cleanings because the office did not take the time to discuss their treatment plan or provide accurate insurance coverage information BEFORE the visit. The staff member explained it was my responsibility to contact our former dentist to obtain their records, and I was also responsible for contacting my insurance company to confirm our coverage. Would have been good to know it was up to me to get this information when we booked the appointments 6 months ago. I ended up sending them the money for the additional $200 they said I owed, and included a note with the payment asking them to cancel all of our future appointments. What happened next is why I am writing this review. The office manager called me at 7 p.m. the next week but did not call to apologize, reduce the charges, or try to keep our business. Instead, she literally called to argue and shift the blame for the breakdown to me. She reiterated they had no responsibility to obtain previous dental records or verify insurance coverage before a visit, and this was my responsibility. When I repeated my dissatisfaction with having to pay over $500 for a teeth cleaning and my frustrating that we did not over review any treatment plans before the visit, she told me she reviewed our files the night before our appointment and assured me they were one of the most affordable dental offices in town. No apologies, no adjustments, no regrets.
