I had to have my conference roommate make the call as I can't hear anything on the phone. "Come on in anytime and we'll get you taken care of." What a relief! I was there within an hour with dead Oticons. The good doctor there (sorry I didn't catch your name, I'm deaf, haha!) had me test one in a charger. It worked! He's lending it to me for the time I'm here. Who does that without charging an arm and a leg? I was blown away by the generosity! The good folks here genuinely want to help. They saved my week at the conference in seminars and hanging out with old colleagues. My hearing is so bad I thought about just hanging it up and getting a return flight home. She gently takes a tool and takes out the excess ear wax. The last time I had wax removed, the doctor used a water bulb that he squirted into my ear, and it was so uncomfortable because I got dizzy from the water filling my one ear. Anyway, this way by Dr. Solat rocks!! Her patient care is fantastic and kind, and it was so easy to schedule for her office because you do it all online! I highly recommend Dr. Mandi Solat! Over the years, I've learned the nuances about why it doesn't help to just crank up a hearing aid, and the more subtle benefits of consistent use. Even when I have been a less than ideal patient, they've consistently encouraged me to get the most out of my hearing aids without being overbearing. I've always appreciated the honesty of these discussions. Education extends to the items that they have recommended against too. I have decided not to purchase things like stethoscopes and rechargeable batteries because they were able describe to me how these products weren't practical enough for the real world yet. When something was ready, however, they reached out to me to let me know. For 6 years, they did not push any of the incremental upgrades to my first set of hearing aids. When a big breakthrough did happen, I was introduced to a new product in a demo. Moreover, they said "don't believe me here in the demo." They had me take the hearing aids for a few weeks, use them at home, at work, and in my real life. The upgrade sold itself, and I couldn't be happier about the improvement in my quality of life. I really feel like I'm getting healthcare that is customized to me. Because of my interest in technology, I was exposed to all the iOS hearing aid features that my newest hearing aids can access in terms of customizations, location services, and usage data. This gives Beltone information that they can then use to recommend adjustments. As far as I know, I'm the only patient they've had this discussion with because the vast majority of hearing aid users are not interested in working with this technology. We romanticize a notion of healthcare when people made house calls, took time, and really understood the patient. On the other hand, if she feels that a visit with a specialist is needed she doesn't hesitate to make a referral. I've never been kept waiting more than a few minutes past my scheduled appt time and have never felt like I was rushed or didn't have time to ask any questions I had. She in fact spent at least an extra 45 minutes with me at one recent visit - I was much sicker than I realized and she recognized right away that I needed to be transferred to the ER. She made all the necessary calls, and kept an eye on my condition until the paramedics arrived. She is prepared to deal with urgent problems like the one I was having but also takes the time to go thru everything health-related at least every year and makes sure that I'm up to date on my vaccines, etc. I feel very lucky to have found such a competent and empathetic medical provider.

Now after two years, and two annual visits, the last of which was virtual, my five star rating is every bit as valid. There's not a hint of pretentiousness here. She's professional, yet easy going. For instance, there's a certain diagnostic test recommended for women within my age group. For personal reasons I choose not to have one. While she expressed its importance, and urged I have one, she respected my right to choose. I respect and appreciate that. Also, being she's independent, and not part of a busy practice, with multiple physicians, you're all that matters here. There's not a labyrinth of room filled hallways where you're placed inside an exam room waiting for what feels like forever for a doctor to go "knock-knock". With Marie, it's just you. She's there for you at exam time. No long waits. I'll never again choose anyone other than a nurse practitioner as primary care provider. And as long as Marie is available. I'll not choose anyone other than her. She has her own practice, not an office full of employees. When you call she'll likely answer, not a staff member. If you leave a message she won't take long to respond. If you're forgetful and forget to call in a refill, and you run out, she's responsive.
