I don't eat them but I homemake my dog's food and use them for her. They are farm local for just under $6. Love local. I also buy garlic powder and sea salt in bulk. No wasted containers this way and it's cheaper. Browsing the food areas are neat for those harder to find items. I always go in to browse and come out $40 in the hole. Thank God I don't have dietary restrictions (my middle name is carb!) Or else I'd be buying so much more from here.

One thing I really liked about this shop is its size - it's HUGE! It is bright and clean and has loads of variety. Lots of beverage alternatives (Finally, not your run of the mill soft drinks!) The shop made me think of my sister, who has specific dietary needs. While I was thinking of her, wandering the aisles, she called me! How's that for perfect timing? I think she'd love it here, and will have to bear this in mind for next time she travels this way. They offer a number of glutten free items, which even I wouldn't mind trying, like breads. These are just different that what you can buy ready made, or what you can usually make at home (out of regular wheat ingredients).

My first visit to a Whole Foods Market was years ago, after completing a job interview in Yorkville…read morein Toronto. I definitely remember what I got: a slice of tiramisu. At that time, it was the only Whole Foods in the greater Toronto area. Whole Foods has grown on me, likely because Markham has one and I frequent it often. I don't fit the profile of a typical Whole Foods shopper who tends to carry expensive handbags, must get everything organic, and can afford all things expensive, including tiny bottles of elixirs that extend their years on planet Earth. I like their dairy-free items. I love Carbonaut bread and the entire bakery section, including tiramisu. There are specific items that I get at this store. If I'm looking for romaine lettuce or celery, you'll likely see me at a grocery store that offers these items at normal, cheaper prices. Four years ago, I was in the Glebe and saw this Whole Foods store. I didn't go in. I had already got what I needed at a Metro. On my most recent visit, after spending a few hours exploring the area with a friend, I realized that I needed almond beverage and lemons. I had yet to set foot in any grocery store. They were good reasons to check this store out. I had parked underground. The elevator got me to this store. I exited the elevator on the main floor to hit Winners. This store has a cafe that occupies the entire floor. It was busy just before noon. People must love getting coffee and a baked good here. When I returned just past 5 pm, you could hear crickets on this floor. The cafe was closed. It was different. My local one is still open when I'm there at 7 pm. I have yet to hit the cafe at any Whole Foods location. I took the escalator up to the second floor, which is where the entire supermarket is. I immediately found almond beverage. Organic. Sugar-free. Perfect. I also found the produce area. The Rainier cherries looked good. They were also so expensive that I blocked the price out and moved on. I got a couple of lemons. You could get a bag of six. The price was the same if you calculated how much one lemon was going for, so you might as well pick your own pristine-looking lemons. I looked around. It has the usual salad and hot food bars. You pay by weight, which does add up if you aren't careful. There were lots of snacks and drinks to choose from. A can of flavoured carbonated water was going for $2.69. It makes you wonder how this store determines the prices that it sets. It was enjoyable looking at the plants and flowers. It's a nice grocery store. I had an equally nice woman at the checkout area. I paid for my items with a debit card. I didn't need a bag. My lemons were already in one, so I carried it and my carton of almond beverage to the elevator. It was convenient taking the elevator down to the underground parking lot. I walked to my car, paid for parking, and left. The lemons and almond beverage were great. I'm glad that I got what I needed at this store. I had a fun time shopping here. It's my second Whole Foods that I've been to where it has two floors. We'll see if I return in another four years. Maybe I'll try the cafe... haha! (262)

They have a lot of processed foods like vegan cheeses and spreads. I'm glad that they do because the regular grocery stores often have a limited selection of these items. They have frozen meals, vegan & non vegan foods, natural cleaners, low-waste products, vitamins and supplements, skincare products, and lots more. They have a pretty small bulk foods section so I've stuck with bulk barn for when I need to stock up. Their fruit and vegetable selection isn't great. You'll definitely need to make a separate trip to a grocery store for those items. I've found that a lot of their items on sale are expired. I realized this when I bought a package of oats to try and threw them out once I tasted them and realized that they were stale - and a full week past the best before date. I'm all for selling products that are about to expire but it's a risky thing to sell food past that date. Their tea selection is great! So much choice and variety. They also have mixes like turmeric lattes or beet lattes sometimes. Recently, they stopped selling my favourite tea brand which was upsetting as I now have to order it online. The store is great but not a one-stop kind of place. You'll most likely have to stop elsewhere for fruits and veggies. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out because they have so many brands and items you won't see at your regular grocery store.

Also, my wife watches the food channel all the time and now wants to cook with only natural and organic foods. We found Natural Food Pantry in Billings Bridge Mall, which makes it totally handy in the sense that we can shop there while doing other shopping. It sells everything - cleaning products, dried foods (in a great bulk area), frozen foods and produce. They even have helpful books as well. The prices vary depending on what you are buying. The natural soaps are cheap, but the cleaning products are about double what the regular brands sell for.

Well ,I was pleasantly surprised to find the isles brightly lit and the displays brimming with beautiful fresh Ontario produce. I started ,like most of us ,in the vegetable section. We all sort of weave a delusional right to left pattern as if stumbling through some giant pumpkin labyrinth in the middle of Farmer Cathy's field. We touch, squeeze and smell around the first few turns...meanwhile eyeing the cup cakes and stuffed bread rolls coming up in the distant rows. In our cart we toss some beets ,a bag of rotting carrots and wilted lettuce. None of which will reach the pits of our stomach but end up in a smelly landfill providing a delicious snack for some seagull trying to make it back to Nova Scotia. Ditoxin Methalhydrate and silica nitraxte sounds more like a grade 9 chemistry class then a pack of cupcakes..in the cart they go along with the clang of a frozen pizza that unsurprisingly contains the same ingredients as the cup cakes. I remove my shoes in the meat aisle, my feet were so sore from sitting at my desk all day. As I bent down to remove my shoe I slipped a delicious sirloin steak into my purse."This guy makes a killing...just look at the prices..who cares!" I thought as I adjusted my skirt and hair For who I don't know ,the store was empty except for some deadbeat late night teenager throwing her live away. My feet felt cold on the newly waxed floors "Maybe a slip and fall tonight, that may help$$.I pulled the pregnancy test off the shelf and laughed ,it'd been such a long time that I'd really connected with anyone.Threw it down the sleeve of my coat just in case. The ice cream looked so delicious, wish I could fit that in my purse.I set it in the top of my cart and wrenched on it hard enough to get a corner of the lid off.Slid one finger under the rim....ummmmmm choclate with salted caramel.. I licked my fingers clean like some old alley cat and headed for the checkout. Ordo
