My…read moredaughter already had a stigma against psychologists from when I took her at age 10 to address anxiety issues. When I recently discovered my daughter was depressed and self-harming, I found Tammy, who claimed to have experience in this area. Tammy slowly gained my daughter's confidence (despite Tammy's unprofessional foul language -- something my daughter brought up on several occasions), but her approach quickly turned to confrontation and threats as my daughter's cutting led to suicidal ideation. Rather than delving into why my daughter was self-harming and how best to deal with her issues, Tammy repeatedly threatened my daughter with calling Henderson Youth Services as my daughter's thoughts evolved in the wrong direction. This only exacerbated the situation and, to make a long story short, Tammy made good on her threats. My daughter was locked up in a mental institution for 4 days. This came about because of a lack of communication and understanding between the therapist and the patient and also because of misinformation given to me by Tammy. My daughter has now been severely scarred by these events and will never accept the professional help that she so desperately needs. In addition to her depression, she has reverted back to all of the early childhood fears that we worked so hard to overcome (separation anxiety, fears, nightmares, etc.). As if that's not enough, I can't get my daughter affordable health insurance for 5 years now because of this "pre-existing condition". Thank you for all you've done to ruin our lives, Tammy.

I have been with previous therapists where when the session ended I didn't feel any different from when I walked in and was desperate to gain just a drop of something to work with. He got mad and basically refused me service I had to call my Childnet worker and she advocated for me to be able to meet with a woman. Everything was going fine until the therapist in the group told me to stay after group because I had a question that I was not comfortable sharing about in front of everyone because it is a coed group. This has happened with many patients where the therapist asks for patients to stay after group it was not something they just did specifically for me. While we were in group the therapist started having technical difficulties and had to end group early. I called the office and asked what I should do they told me to wait and see if she called me and if she did not then to call the office in the morning. I waited and in the morning I called the office like I was told. A male got on the phone and was telling me I was asking for a therapy session I told him I was not I was simply trying to ask a question about parenting which was the class I was taking. Eventually Gary came on the phone and was really rude again telling me that I was asking for a therapy session and that they were going to refer me to therapy in there group I told them no that I already was receiving services outside of them and I am pleased with the other office. I called my Childnet workers and both of them told me they could not do anything because they were not on the case anymore. I asked for a patient advocate and was told they did not have one. Finally Gary told me that he called Childnet and that they said they would not pay for the classes and that they were discharging me. The parenting class is part of my case plan to get my kids back and now that Childnet is not involved I cannot receive services any where else. So just a word of advice if you have any traumas at all especially if you don't like speaking to men about personal issues do not go to this office they will screw you over and make you look bad

We went to this doctor for reunification therapy, and her practices were unexpectedly concerning…read more In fact, after my daughter later met with a different therapist, that therapist recommended I contact the state to file a complaint. The experience felt mentally abusive to my children. Her solution to every issue seemed to be "more therapy," and it often felt as though the focus was on generating additional income rather than helping our family. For example, we asked a simple yes-or-no question about whether she had provided specific direction to one parent. Instead of answering, she sent a lengthy, multi-paragraph email promoting herself as the ongoing family therapist and asking questions about how continued services would be paid for. The actual question went completely unanswered. This was just one of many instances that made it seem she was primarily motivated by money. She also set expectations with a 9 year old but did not follow through, essentially lying to a child. This created such a distrust that all three of my children now have a difficult time trusting therapists. Her documentation is, in some cases, a misrepresentation of a larger situation. She has at times, (unsolicited) offered to update her documentation to be holistically inclusive of all facts, but fails to deliver after repeated reminders. She has an established path, and numerous therapists have explained that she should have deviated once it was not working. I failed to see her deviate, only double down on a non-winning formula that, of course, required more therapy. Many people, including relatives, agree that the kids are worse off today--after our experience with Lis Sappanaro-than they were before meeting with her.
